POWERS
sol's earth powers are pretty good. he is able to make giant golems move and earth-bend walls to protect himself from magical attacks.
despite being able to control his fairly strong powers, his father is disapponted in him because he has commoner magic — something that even he himself can't change.
he used to be very disinterested in using his powers and often dreaded his magic classes but his childhood friend urged him to get better at it so he can protect people the he loves.
usually sol uses his powers to create very detailed sculptures that looks like they will move any second, or mud-based paints for a new painting technique he's trying to come up with.
the only time he is seen directly using his magic to battle is when the protagonist further provokes a sol who's already in a bad mood.

BACKGROUND
anhelo sol dubois is an only son coming from a well-known noble family. however, rumors like "marquis dubois is twice lady asturias' age. did she marry him for his money?", "i heard his younger sister is an illigitimate child", "marquis dubois is such a cheapskate i heard he has a room filled with piles of gold coins and he counts them one by one every night" surround his family. if you mention any of these rumors to him except the last one, sol's mood will surely turn sour.
his father, marquis erik raoul dubois is known for his family's wealth and his accomplishments for being a skilled knight. he was married to the eldest daughter of the duke of leon, lady agata henriquetta asturias whose family is known for having powerful magicians. their marriage was purely strategic. it was a loveless marriage.
they had a mutual agreement that they would not attempt to have kids anymore after lady henriquetta had given birth to a son. but after giving birth to sol, lady henriquetta was pregnant with another child (gasp!). marquis erik wasn't the father — obviously. it turned out to be her personal butler! enraged, the duke sent him away along with all the other male servants. he decided that he would raise her bastard as his own to prevent himself from being utterly humiliated.
sol was trained by talented magic users despite his father pinching pennies because he wanted his only heir to become exceptional in magic. his older sister didn't receive any private tutoring before she went to the academy. being given these many opportunities made his sister dislike him. despite his father favoring sol over his siblings, sol was closer to his mother and the servants growing up because they showed him genuine affection even and never expected a lot from him.
during their childhood, the rumor that his younger sister was a bastard arose and children stopped playing with his sister. one noble in particular, roseline, was super haughty and insulted his sister so bad she cried. sol and his sister were often together after that happened. they even tried looking for her real father. they didn't find him.
one time, a group of older kids ganged up on them and tried to rob them. a "wind magic user" made the older kids' eyes sting so bad they all ran away, tripping in the process. that was the time they met jun. the three have been friends ever since. in order to visit the siblings, jun secretly helps clean up the horse stables — paid most of the time with food.
APPEARANCE
sol has white hair and blue-gray eyes. he stands at 187 cm and weighs 67 kg. he is quite slim. his collarbones are prominently displayed in his usual outfit.
sol's default outfit is a black button-up shirt, black pants, and a white blazer made of a satin-like material. his outfit has several highlights — silver earrings, a pendant necklace, and a stylish silver belt.
during fancy parties and formal events, sol is known for his sophisticated and stylish suits. his multitude of silver accessories and his confident gait attract most of the party guests' gazes to him.

INITIAL IMPRESSION
sol is the protagonist's upperclassman. at first, he seems to be quite aloof because of his nonchalant attitude and intimidating height. the protagonist bumps into him in the academy's hallway and picks up a book on philosophy that he had dropped. he thanks her cooly and walks away.
the next time the protagonist sees him, roseline is bullying his sister. when the incident starts gathering on-lookers, a shadow runs past her, envelopes the girl with a hug as if to shield her from roseline. suddenly, an earth thud about 20-ft tall sends roseline flying.
INTO THE RABBIT HOLE
when the protagonist opts to visit the art room, she is be able to spend some time with sol. at first, her attempts on small talk tend to be short-lived but when he senses that she's genuinely curious about his art, he brightens up and talks freely about his art's inpirations and techniques.
the protagonist accidentally thinks aloud and tells him that he's handsome. "thanks. you can always come here to witness this work of art." an awkward silence ensues, but sol is completely oblivious to it. he just went from a 10 to a 4. the bell rings and the protagonist excuses herself.
sol continues to paint by, whistling happily by himself and thoroughly absorbed by his watercoloring. not even a minute passes by and the door slams open. annoyed because of the loud noise but excited by his sister's appearance, he waves the paintbrush wildly at her.
lucielle goes over to him and smirks upon seeing the count of monte cristo. she knows very well that sol only brings books about philosophy and classic literature with him to look cool. sol sees her eye-ing the book. he quickly hits her face with a paperball and runs toward the door in order to avoid the topic and her inevitable retaliation.
she playfully retorts and "waterbends" the nearby rinse water towards him a.k.a chase sol and then chuck the container's contents towards him. jun enters. sol is hit on the back but the splash damage also hits jun's face. sol looks almost sheepish — which is rare since he always either looks stone-faced or shameless.
INTO THE DEPTHS OF HELL

sol does as he pleases. if he wants to paint all day, he does. if he wants to praise someone, he doesn't hesitate. compliments are natural for him, anyway. if he wants to appear stylish at a party, he raids his house for hidden jewelry. if he wants to spend more time with jun, he skips his classes and jun will inevitably insist to tutor him.
sol's brazen actions lead him to a lot of scolding. he knows where his actions lead him. and most of the time, he acts before he thinks. but he's never regretted it one bit. he's not one to care much for rules to begin with. what's the use of rules if it's not going to be convenient for him.
ever since he was young, he's been surrounded by rules. however, he knows that he has more freedom than his sister. his father can't do anything but reprimand him. however, he knows that his father is just itching for an excuse to throw lucielle out. that's why he does everything he can to help and protect her.
sol doesn't have time to be judgemental but paying back is a different story. sol has never forgotten a time that anyone has made her sister cry. these transgressions, no matter how small, are going to be returned, and he's not going to wait for karma to do it.
after roseline insulted lucielle during their childhood, someone vandalized a part of the castle wall by carving a huge 'roseline's farts smell bad' hoping that the crown prince will see it and mention it to roseline.
inherently childish, sol is easily excited by ice cream and the thought of seeing jun. but after attending aisling academy, he tries to act more mature. he's a teenager and he wants to appear cool in front of the person he likes.
this unfortunately includes, trying to appear like an intellectual and carrying a book everywhere he goes — this is magic theory, why did you bring moby-duck? — and trying his best not to laugh at a lame joke but his facial muscles fail him and he ends up looking even weirder.

COLLECTIBLES
a photograph of two horses ⸗ sol named their two horses after the god apollo and his mortal lover calliope. if they ever have a foal together, sol says that he will call it orpheus. lucielle says that they can't because they're both guy horses.

sol hates- he soooo hates him. oh my god. he's so stuck-up and everyone knows he's a friggin' cheapskate. he probably made all that fuss about his parents and the servants because he just didn't want to spend money on having more servants.
sol avoids him but if he can't he'll stay for a lecture, seething on the inside. sol immediately drowns out his long speeches since he's already repeated everything he's said more that he sounds like a broken record by now.
sometimes, he doesn't notice his father has actually become more lenient because sol thinks that he's still the same unreasonable person he used to be. it's probably because of his old age and declining health.

MOTHER
lady agata henriquetta asturias.
she's a very loving mother to her children but she's in a strained relationship with her eldest daughter. sol is reminded of the times where his mother told him and his younger sister fairy tales during afternoon tea. she has her own pace. it's slow and sometimes she spaces out but that's her charm. lucielle agrees.
she's quite carefree but reminds sol if he does something wrong. she shares her thoughts about what she had done before. it was true love, she whispers wistfully. it was definitely wrong but she did not regret it one bit. lucielle was a blessing to her. sol agrees.

⬤ "i'm just saying. stop wasting your time befriending commoners and hanging around that girl who lives in our house."

azula estrella dubois.
despite not really being antagonized by her, sol doesn't like his older sister because all she does is reprimand him just like his father. she also hangs out a lot with him so that might explain why she doesn't want to refer to lucielle as her real sister.
after graduating from the academy, she was married off to a rich and influential duke's second son. despite her early decision to get married, she's a very strong fire magic user. if she was born as a male, she would have been a royal guard or a knight.
MAIDS

anhelo is on friendly terms with the house's servants. despite the fast rotation of the maids (because of his father's motto), there are a few in particular that he is familiar with because they've been there for so long or because he finds them interesting.

OLD MAID
no one knows her real name. she's been there before azula was born. she's probably older than sol's father — and his father's ancient! she knows everyone and everything that goes on in the house. she's in charge of all the current maids and sol finds it interesting that she doesn't seem to lift a finger but her father doesn't fire her for some reason. sol never talks to her because he finds her very intimidating.
⬤ "are you well? you look pale."
⬤ "lord dubois. it is fine. i have rested well last night. the marquis might find me slacking off. shall we continue this conversation some other time?"
⬤ "did miss nancy really get some sleep?"
⬤ "i couldn't sleep last night. i saw her. she slept for only three hours! and she was already out doing chores after making her bed. she's not human!"
NANCY
she works hard the most. sol has never seen her take a break. she always seems to be moving about. does she even sleep?
⬤ "what are we having for dinner?"
⬤ "we're having josephine for dinner if she doesn't stop eating all the ingredients."
⬤ "what's that, marie? you're having me for dinner? ;)"
⬤ "josephine, stop being silly!"
sol sighs, exasperated. he knew he shouldn't have asked that with josephine around.
MARIE
she's in charge of hunting game, harvesting from the dubois' backyard ("we have a garden, why do we need to buy from those filthy merchants?" — marquis dubois). she's the best — and only — cook in the household. breakfast, lunch and dinner would be very different without her so he would be very sad if she left. sol likes her a lot because she makes the best ice cream.

JOSEPHINE
always tired. sol has seen her discretely take wine bottles and taste test the boiling broth while marie prepares dinner. she's primarily in charge of cleaning the stables and sometimes being marie's sous chef. however, she's often found snooping inside the mansion or volunteering to go to the town market to buy ingredients. she's the 'courier' between sol and jun because she often goes to town. jun lives nearby.

sol uses 5cm earth thump to trip lucielle. it's super effective!
YOUNGER SISTER
growing up with lucielle, they've always faught. they annoy each other at the slightest provocation and sol isn't gentlemanly enough to not fight against his younger sister.
however, after he heard her crying at night, he accompanied her and found out that she's being bullied. acting in a roundabout manner, he declares that he's the only one who can make her cry and vows to protect her (the vow is silent because he doesn't want lucielle to think that he's a softie — even though she already thinks that!).
she tries to be hella optimistic despite being insulted and having her heart broken. and after enrolling at the academy, she hasn't cried. not even once. she's also determined to graduate with passing colors since she isn't a magic user herself.
honestly, she's more mature than sol at time. however, she's still that hyper and loud sister that sol gets annoyed with (but secretly loves). her curiosity and determination are her best traits.

⬤ "i just think that you might have something on your mind. i'm here to listen. i talk a lot but i do that too... sometimes. if it's just my imagination, then i'm pleasantly surprised. les miserables is a wonderful book to read. it took me a week to calm down after reading it. okay, i'm rambling now. anyway, have you seen that unidentified flying object. it boggles my mind that no one is talking about it..."
HIS KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR
he's the only commoner in his neighborhood who is capable of magic. and he has water magic that is rare even for nobles. he uses it to help the town fish and other odd jobs. if he got paid everytime he helped someone, he would be very rich by now. sol thinks that instead of money, he's been raking an endless amount of air supply as payment he's so damn talkative.
what sol likes about jun despite his loquacious nature is that he pays attention to his friends and is the first one to ask if they're okay and how their day went. he loves to talk but he also genuinely cares about the people around him.
jun inspired sol to work better to make his powers work. sol has been harboring a long-term crush on jun but has no plans on telling him ever but this doesn't stop him from trying to look cool in front if him, ever since getting to see each other more often after attending aisling academy.
he's friendly and very knowledgeable about magic theory. he helps sol with his homework and with catching up whenever sol ends up skipping class. he cares a lot about sol and lucielle — two of his bestest friends — but he tells sol that he should attend classes because it's important.
he reads a lot. sol doesn't but that doesn't mean he's not in awe everytime jun discusses his favorite part in a book he just read or is frustrated about the ending. sol wonders how jun manages to be excited in getting a new textbook.
⬤ "i... don't remember? also i haven't done anything wrong to your sister for at least a week!
⬤ "changing your ways now doesn't mean that i'll forget everything you've done. be careful when sitting down. farts always come unannounced."
⬤ "stop acting like what you just said was really cool! why did you suddenly talk about releasing gas anyway?"
⬤ "it's whoopie cushions. he's planning something."
ROSELINE
roseline is the bane of sol's existence. she's worse than a wet sock because he always seems to find her antagonizing his younger sister. since lucielle has become a close friend of the crown prince, roseline has been threatened by her presence. however, for sol, that makes no sense. lucielle liked roseline for always hanging out with her.
however, after the rumors, roseline — the friend she liked the most — had hurt her feelings. sol being protective of his younger sister, wanted to fight roseline. of course that wasn't possible. she's the crown prince's fiance. that's why he tries to get back using ways that he thinks would not incriminate him.
after finding out that roseline is going to start attending the same school as him, he gets excited. almost 10 long years of waiting, who would have thought that fate would lead her straight to him? 10 long years worth of payback. it's time.
sol does not appear in the childhood friend's route at all except during common route events found early game.
⬤ "seems like your sister's moved on, hasn't she?
⬤ "yes. luci told me that when school started, she went to tell you that she doesn't want to be rivals anymore."
⬤ "lucielle's a funny girl. even i was never infatuated with roseline as much as she had been. she was obviously head over heels for her."
⬤ "i remembered luci always went to the palace to challenge you into giving up your engagement with her."
⬤ "she wanted to race to the castle moat and the first one to canonball on the moat wins. i had to decline. and i remember you wrote something on the castle wall?"
⬤ "she deserved it for breaking my sister's heart. luci even went so far as to go down on one knee and offer her a pretzel ring. but roseline had to accuse of her of stealing you. she even called her names."
⬤ "weren't you just as petty? i heard someone filled her bed with small rocks."
THE CROWN PRINCE
sol's confidant of sorts. sol and the crown prince are acquainted with each other because of little lucielle. she had considered the prince as her rival for roseline's affection but ever since she realized that roseline's never going to acknowledge her feelings, she gave up.
sol continues to be on friendly terms with him, their topics often about their younger siblings. during the crown prince's route, the prince somehow feels threatened by lucielle being friends with the protagonist. sol has also figured out why lucielle gave up on roseline. because of the new girl.
⬤ "excuse me, but what are you doing here? this is my private chamber. do you need an audience with my parents?"
⬤ "no. i'm looking for your brother? i can smell his perfume in here. it smells like alphabet soup."
sol's eyes scan the room for possible clues.
⬤ "what? oh, he just passed by here."
sol pauses for dramatic effect.
⬤ "then whose feet are those?
THE CROWN PRINCE'S BROTHER
sol hasn't gotten a lot of chances to interact with the second prince but sol has heard a lot about him from his brother.
⬤ "dodge!"
the loyal bodyguard moves efficiently to the right and sol's mudball misses him completely.
⬤ "i see you're as competent as ever."
⬤ "i see your arm's as strong as pasta cooked al dente."
annoyed, sol looks for the crown prince.
⬤ "princey! your guard's broken. you should replace him with someone nicer."
THE LOYAL BODYGUARD
it all stemmed from sol's curiosity. how strong is the crown prince's bodyguard? is he stronger than sol? is he competent? he couldn't stop himself. everytime he sees the crown prince, he starts looking for his bodyguard and attacks him sometimes with mudballs, paperballs, and even uncooked pasta. the loyal bodyguard is annoyed by sol's eccentric way of greeting him but accepts this as a thing that just happens.

⬤ "are you trying to pick a fight? because i'm in the mood to fight, girlie!
⬤ "bring it on!"
⬤ "did you know that the crown prince is going to have party this weekend?
⬤ "yes! i'm actually going."
⬤ "don't forget to seduce him."
⬤ "w-w-w-what?!"
⬤ "if i was a beautiful girl such as yourself, i would have done it myself."
⬤ "why do you want to seduce the crown prince? is it because you don't like roseline?"
⬤ "...no? it's because you deserve the crown prince more than her."
⬤ "okay, you got me. but he deserves someone other than that jealous chihuahua."
THE PROTAGONIST
depending on your choices, sol can be a dependable but decidedly eccentric upperclassman or your worst nightmare. he's in charge of helping increase your art stats. being at odds with him will drastically slow down your chances of having sufficient art stats. it will also increase your chances of pissing him off.
you will meet him by default if you haven't gained any capture target's (or alex's) affection points during this event. when roseline bullies the protag, sol comes in and defends her — out of spite for roseline than actually caring about the protag.
after a while of good interactions, he will present you with small gifts and even go as far as defending you from the rose club (even if it doesn't concern roseline herself). you are also gonna get introduced to his younger sister and best friend.
if you decide that you don't want sol as a friend and intentionally pick the annoying conversation options, you'll get random events like "dodge the giant boulder!" if roseline likes verbal insults, sol proves to be pettier and more violent.
