35 Questions for Writers (Round 3)

The first time I did this was April 2017, then I did it in January 2018 and it's been over a year and half since then, and I'd like to think a lot has changed about my writing since then, so I decided to do this again and see how my old answers compare lolol (the 2017 answers are in green, 2018 in blue, 2019 in black) (also i'm procrastinating woops?)

1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean?

I needed an account just to read and was (still am) a die-hard Inspirit so I just went with it. I do want to change it though.

I'm a highkey inspirit AND I STILL WANNA CHANGE IT

TWO YEARS OF ME SAYING I WANTED TO CHANGE IT AND I FINALLY CHANGED IT LOL. It used to be inspirit7ifnt but that made me cringe everytime so I changed it to hamsterboo (hamster = hamstergyu = sunggyu and boo comes from boo seungkwan)

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

My Eunji/Hoya one shot 1 Backwards, 4 Across, 3 Down (click on link to be redirected)

Gambling With Death (click on link to be redirected) with 216 subs (still unreal that 216 people decided to give it a try)

Last time I did this, GWD was just posted so it was my one shot but gosh

GWD is still my most subscribed story, but the number skyrocketed to 624 after I advertised it (the 200 people itself was unreal, this new number is insane and I'm still getting new subs randomly)

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

Uh because Baekhyun has been ruining my life lately and Take You Home was amazing.

Because Ji Chang Wook is a piece of art and a freaking masterpiece.

IT'S STILL JI CHANG WOOK BECAUSE BAE. WATCH MELTING ME SOFTLY

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

I don't consider most of my AFF friends, more like acquanitices simply because we never speak so...

But out of the ones I do speak to, YifanForever and TeaMinT are the ones I always turn to because they've got my backs....mostly...

I talk to YifanForever and TeaMinT quite a bit.

^ Still those two practically every day to every few days

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Of course!

Korekrypta's The Blood Brother Code (I've read it 5 times?) and amber_rose's Rewind 2003 (I've read it 3 times)

Uh nothing particular recently but I do reread The Blood Brother Code quite a bit.

^ Same still applies except I've read Running with Wolves a lot.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

278 and I'm pretty sure I haven't read half of them.

298 and I haven't read anything new/updated since December. I also haven't read majority of the ones i'm subbed to.

291 - I still haven't read most of them but I did go through and clean a few out

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

Uh...I don't know? I haven't written much and out of those that I've written, they're all over the place. I have one high school, two college, one detective and one office/working.

THINGS WITH SADNESS. I JUST WANT TO WRITE A CLICHE ROMCOM T.T

I have a thing with murder. The FBI agent watching me must be so confused as to if I'm a psychopath or just weird

8. How many friends do you have?

56. I'm not good at making friends.

80

92

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Abusive relationships (YifanForever said something similiar). I wrote a one shot where Yixing was the victim in abusive relationship, and I want to write something that expands on it to show how much of a vicious cycle it is (for both males and females), and that it doesn't always involve physical violence.

I'm just scared that I might end up romanticizing it in some way that wasn't intended and people reacting harshly to that.

Meh

Tbvh I have no idea when I wrote a one shot about Yixing being in an abusive relationship - I'm gonna need to find that if I still have it, or if I deleted it. I wrote "meh" last year but I never expanded on it so I guess I'll do that now since I still feel the same way - I'm going to write what I feel is what I want to write. I've grown up since I first started writing, so I'm more aware of situations that are bit more TW than others to write about but I'm also more aware of how to be careful with it and to learn from it.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

A better writer.

Writing. I get writer's block for months on end sometimes and other times I write so much. Like I wrote roughly six 1500 word chapters in one week in October.

Still want to improve at my writing.

11. How many subscribers do you have?

Unique: 165 Total: 175

Unique: 411 Total: 451

(this number went up so much and omg i'm so grateful ;-;)

Unique: 894 Total: 1003 (wao omg)

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

Published on AFF: 6 (I took one down to edit it)

Published elsewhere then took down: roughly 7

6 and I have many planned.

7 and one in the planning stages

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

Uh like 2? I don't write something new until I finish the one before unless I decide to write two at the same time.

Many.

Old stories that are published: all
New stories that are in planning stages: one

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I am forgetful, so I write them down.

I use evernote to write them down (it's on my phone and laptop so if i ever get an idea, I can immediately write it down) because I tend to forget certain details that I like even if I remember the main plot.

I haven't come up with anything new that I'm not actively planning so nothing really

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Co-author for beta? Yes.

Co-author for writing? In the works of one.

LOL TeaMinT and I spent a legit hour or so planning one out but never got around to it.

I am a co-author as a beta for YifanForever

Not for writing a fic together (TeaMinT and I went through a few of those and never wrote them) but I'm a beta for YifanForever (Immortals and Forever) and for JaeKnight (The Imaginary One)

16. How did you discover AFF?

Through my sister. <-- hasn't changed lmao

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

Are you kidding of course not.

HA please. As if.

No.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Why would I <-- hasn't changed

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

Korekrypta. (It was YifanForever's answer too) Her writing style and passion for writing inspires me quite a bit. And the fact that she replies to every single comment despite getting SO MANY is so admirable. She's actually part of the reason why I got into Exo as well lmao

Koreykrypta is a senpai for me because her writing techniques and writing style is so great but as for someone who encourages me to write and do my best - YifanForever <3

It's still Korey, but recently it's mostly YifanForever (Reya) - she's the reason why I got back into writing.

20. How many karma points do you have?

In the 2000's

Who knows.

I don't even remember

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

I said this last time and I'll say it again: Keep writing. Just because there aren't people who are commenting (or subscribing) doesn't mean you give up. If you started writing, that meant that you started because YOU wanted to. If you were willing to spend so much  time and energy into creating something, follow through with it unless you completely lose motivation/don't like the story anymore (because it's up to you). <-- hasn't changed

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Bit of both. I write out important details of the plot (kinda like the plot diagram), and then I write down important info about my characters. The stuff in between is just figured out as I go.

For the most part idk what the heck I'm doing but I do have a general story outline. For something like Gambling with Death and Withering Petals, it's very detailed and methodic in terms of what happens since it is a mystery fic so I need to make sure my ish stays constant and thus I do plan it out. Otherwise - nah.

I don't spend a lot of time for something that I know exactly what I want to write, I'll just say "chapter 1- this happens" but like I mentioned before, things that are very detail oriented require a lot of planning.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

Haven't written enough for that, so no.

Nope. Thankfully people are nice.

Still a no! If it's honestly just rude/mean, I'd tell them off and downvote. If it's constructive, I'll take it happily.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)

. I don't even know the beginnings on how to even start that.

Also, it makes me uncomfortable :/

SAD SCENES. YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD BE USED TO THEM BY NOW but it drains me after I write heavy angst.

I don't know why I said , not like I read or write it lmao but the heavy angst/heavy topics still applies. It hits me hard whenever I write Withering Petals.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Gambling With Death. It's a Yixing x OC mystery romance fic written for Korekrypta's challenge.

I just finished a story Yongguk angst fic and I'm putting Withering Petals and Thank You For Listening on mini hiatus until my writer's block clears up and I have motivation to write.

I'M STILL WORKING ON WITHERING PETALS SMH but I'm almost done, and after that is Distant Torment and a Jungkook x OC fic.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

I plan them, but don't start them.

Good lord I have a problem.

^ same.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

I try to do 500 a day since I tend to keep adding details (such a change from a few years ago when I couldn't describe stuff for my life) but nowadays I've been busy with finals prep so haven't gotten a chance to.

Nope. My schedule is all over the place and sometimes forcing myself to sit down and write just makes things worse.

Ha. What's a schedule. I'll end up getting inspiration to write when I have absolutely no time to and when I'm free I'm just sitting there watching tv.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Yes.

Yes.

Love: An Unusual Emotion is the epitome of that growth considering I went through and edited it 3 years after writing (it's still pretty bad haha)

A lot. My first fic was a hellish mess and I'm forever happy that it will never see the light of day ever again. Even if I go back to something I wrote back in 2016 and what I last wrote, there's a lot of writing style differences.

Don't even bother looking for Love: An Unusual Emotion - it's gone. I hated it so much gosh I don't even remember what it was about, but definitely I've improved so much. I will eventually go back through GWD and edit it!

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

Since I haven't written many, I'll say Gambling With Death,

It's a tie between Gambling with Death and The First and Last Time because GWD was my first multi-chaptered fic that I spent countless hours into and TFALT is something that I wrote so there was something that people could relate to in some way. Plus I wanted to show some realistic relationship issues that weren't caused by betrayal or annoying parents.

Ugh this is actually really hard. I'm really proud of myself for workng so hard to write and finish GWD, and The First and Last Time (out of my stories) was really well written considering it was so short, but tbvh Withering Petals is such a dark and heavy story that's from a psychopath's POV that I really like how I wrote it and how everyone commenting seems to be really put off by him haha.

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

Love: An Unusual Emotion

NOT GONNA SAY. IT'S TAKEN DOWN FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER.

That fic mentioned above is the one that my second answer refers to, and I agree. I don't even want to mention the title again.

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Hopefully editing my own original novel :)

Still trying to come up with a decent mythological/fantasy fic idea beCAUSE I CAN'T SEEM TO COME UP WITH ONE

LMFAO as if to my first idea (it's been almost 3 years since then and nothing bECAUSE IM A BUSY UNI STUDENT THATS DYING). However, that mythological/fantasy fic bs still applies because my brain likes murder fics too much. At least my newest fic, Distant Torment, has a soulmate element.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

26

59

92 \o/

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Plotting but not writing.

That I can indulge myself into someone else and become them for a moment.

Also that it's a stress reliever of sorts.

Bringing what I imagine to life (and what I said in blue)

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Not having enough time, brain power, or ideas to write.

Wanting to write but not having time or energy.

^ same

35. Why do you write?

It's fun.  It's enjoyable to do.  I'd probably lose my mind if I couldn't write.

Publishing a book is something that is on my bucket list and I doubt will ever happen as an engineer, but idk it's also a stress reliever. Plus the idea of bringing ideas to life through words and painting a picture through words is something really cool.

Publishing is still something that would be really cool, but at this point I just love that feeling when you're in such a zone and words just start flowing??? It's an incredible feeling

Long story short, my writing self from early 2017 was an idiot
