Oh Jaemin

personality 

To most people, Jaemin Oh is the miracle kid that survived three different kind of cancers. And Jaemin hates that. He's a mischevious and free spirited kid that longs to explore the world for a place to belong in, to find a fresh start so that people stop seeing him as the sick kid. So to antagonize that image, Jaemin seeks adventure, pranks people, and becomes an adrenaline seeking daredevil that does semi dangerous things. He doesn't care what you think of him; his life motto is you only live once.

Jaemin is a go with the flow kind of guy. He doesn't care much for rules and prefers to do things his own way. He hates restrictions and has a penchant for getting into trouble. Whether it's setting up a practical jokes, doing dangerous things with his friends, Jaemin is a daredevil that looks for adrenaline and fun to placate his longing to explore the world.

Jaemin is postive minded. He doesn't get offended easily and looks for the brighter picture. He kind of had to to survive his childhood cancer and he takes pride in being able to remain calm and cheerful in his group of friends once they cause trouble. 

Jaemin is also goofy, likes to make people laugh, is a little bit of a klutz by nature and a little weird at times. He laughs at things people don't and laughs a lot in general. He can annoy people, but most of the time people just laugh at him. 

He's also awkward with girls. His friends complain its a perfectly good waste of his looks. He gets shy around them and most of the time ends up embarassing himself.

Jaemin is a super friendly and attentive person. He never hestitates to share. It probably stems from being so alone most of the time in the hospital but he approaches people, befriends them, pays attention to what they need and is not afraid to give. He's also highly empathetic and can understand whatever people are going through. However, Jaemin can get a bit clingy&jealous as he is afraid of his people abandoning him and can be a bit insecure.

Jaemin also feels a lot of underlying guilt to his parents. He feels bad that they have to work so hard to pay his medical bills. Although he doesnt let his parents nagging stop him from doing what he wants, Jaemin does his best to get good grades. Jaemin is naturally smart and scores within the top 10 of the school.

Jaemin has a natural curiousity and likes exploring and adventure a little too much. He often fails to think of the consequences and will do almost anything. Which is one of his downfalls because he's easily impressionble and gullible. Plus because he's also nice and giving, Jaemin is also kind of a er. He has been scammed of all his montly allowance before.

Surrounded by a supportive family since he was young, Jaemin Oh had it all. He was handsome, smart, nice and athletic. Everything was perfect until he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of nine. Lightning struck his perfect life into pieces. Told by doctors he only had about two years to live, Jaemin and his family prepared for the worst. However, every time doctors thought Jaemin's time had come, Jaemin continued to desperately hold on to the thread of life. 

Just right before his sixteenth birthday, his cancer somehow magicaly disappears. Doctors are bamboozled. Jaemin believes its his second chance at life. He wants to do everything: see the world, make good friends, date a nice girl now that he's no longer bedridden, but he also wants to give back to the world. His ultimate dream is becoming a doctor so that he can save kids just like him. But alas, his family is struggling to pay for his years of medical bills and so Jaemin gives up on that idea for now settles back into his old life. 

But everywhere he goes, his friends and classmates still treat him like a patient. He can't stand the pity in their eyes even though they're just trying to be nice to him. Jaemin craves for the adventure of his life away from all the monotony. He wants to live life to the fullest. 

So for now, he settles the voice in his heart telling him to explore the world with his pranks. He's an extreme prankster and extremely mischevious. No one can stop him and his desire to explore. He skateboards despite the fact that his parents are vehemently against it. He dyes his hair pink because he feels like it. Who cares if he's still in high school? Jaemin is ultimately sick and tired of being treated like porcelain and is ready to break free. 

Jaemin only finds out about the curse on his sixteenth birthday when his parents finally tell him what's going on. They used to lie and say the spirits he saw were hallucinations from his cancer because they wanted him to focus on recovering.

• when his friends pull at his cheeks (but usuallly tolerates it)

hobbies;

• skateboarding, hoverboarding, wants to ride a motorcycle when he's older

• art: painting and sketching, you name it. he picked it up when he was a sick kid with nothing to do. He's actually pretty good at it 
• volunteers at the hospital in his spare time 

fun facts; 

• has a group of four friends: Chenle, Haechan, Jeno, and Mark, they call themselves NCT and hoverboard around together. They do dangerous tricks that make Jaemin's parents sweat drop.
• has a really good memory; he can look at things two to three times and usually memorize it. this is why he does so well on his tests even though he doesn't study 
• has a bunch of cherry blossoms painted on the bottom of his skateboard, he calls her Sakura 
• because he and Xiyeon stick together a lot, there is a rumor going on in school that Jaemin owes Xiyeon money for his ridicuous medical bills. Why else would two polar opposites hang out with each other?

Best Friends | Chenle, Haechan, Mark, Jeno | 16 | Humans 

They are the brothers Jaemin has always wanted but never had. They've got an unbreakable bond and they do almost everything together. They appreciate Jaemin's penchant for adventure and let him lead the crew around on excursions. Though Mark is the most reasonable one in the group and tends to check Jaemin's craziness. 

Older Sisters | Jina, Jieun, Jaeseul | 24, 22, 20 | Humans 

They are the super protective older sisters that will do anything for their baby brother. They coddle him to no end. Jaemin loves his sisters but sometimes find them exhausting because they always fuss over him and his antics. Jieun is the closest one to Jaemin and understands the freedom he wants, but is quiet and doesnt really speak out against the other two sisters. 

Jina works for an architecture company, Jieun works as a flight attendant, and Jaeseul attends Sogang university 

Parents | Oh Sera & Oh Minhyuk | 46 & 48 | Humans 

Jaemin's parents love him and are terribly happy Jaemin survived. However, they are not around much as they work like cows to pay off Jaemin's medical bills. 

Oh Sera is a kindergardner teacher while Oh Minhyuk is a mechanic. 

OTHER CHARACTERS: (this is just how I imagine them to get along) 

Im Yeoreum: as fellow blossoms who are awkward and selfless, the two don't interact very often, since Yeoreum is a Senior and Jaemin a is a sophomore, but they get along. I think Yeoreum might be jealous of Jaemin's ability to be adventurous and continue exploring because she's so anxiety ridden, but I think Jaemin wouldn't recognize that part of her because he's kinda dense. Perhaps she could tell him later about that part of her and the two would become closer friends, perhaps they will just stay as friendly acquaintances. 

Kim Nayoung: gives off a bold vibe, and the two don't really have any feelings about each other. Though both easygoing, Jaemin is more lax and goofy while Nayoung does have a temper and can be violent. 

Jeon Somin: Somin and Jaemin become acquaintances who get assigned to a group project together and as Somin becomes more comfortable around Jaemin, more of her old self starts to show and they become better friends. 

Kim Minjae: The two instantly hit it off become good friends. Why wouldn't they? They have similar personalities and even similar names. 

Nam Sangwoo: Although its not like the two of them fight or anything like that, the two simply don't mix. Xiyeon and Sangwoo are similar in character, but for Jaemin, he feels strangely drawn to Xiyeon. He can withstand Sangwoo if he needs to, but the two are like oil and water. Although Sangwoo reminds him a lot of Xiyeon herself and Jaemin understands why the two of them get along, he gets jealous of Sangwoo a lot. 

Son Dongwoo: sorta friends -- the two get along well but would not go out of their way to hang out with each other one on one. Dongwoo's talkativeness wears Jaemin out and Dongwoo's indecisiveness slightly annoys Jaemin. Why not just go with the flow? 

Son Hyejoo: doesn't really like her since she seems judgmental and super ambitious, but later realizes she isn't that bad once he hears about her from Minjae. 

Min Seohyun: he gets pretty close to her as she is his age and the two have similar natures. However, she seems to be terrified of Xiyeon. 

Woo Kitae: I feel like Jaemin wouldn't feel anything particular about Kitae... Like Jaemin would probably see that he's nice to Yeoreum and that would probably be the end of his thoughts on Kitae. 

Kang Joon: Although Xiyeon seems to like Joon, Jaemin would probably terrified of him. Joon is a lot like Xiyeon, except suuper merciless and lack of social interaction, loyalty and the positive traits of Xiyeon. Plus, the way he's too calm freaks Jaemin out because he's never really sure what Joon is planning. Jaemin also would be concerned about his hunger for power // what if he actually eats Somin? 

interactions 

At first, Xiyeon approaches him after school right after his parents had just given him the talk about his curse. She tells him she can fulfill all of his wishes if he just gives himself to her at the end of his puny lifespan. Hearing how Xiyeon can help him travel the world, send him to medical school, shield him from other demons, help pay off his medical bills, Jaemin agrees to be her "pet". They sign a magically binding contract, of course, Xiyeon had been observing Jaemin and noticed he was gullible and wrote the contract to her favor, but nevertheless, Xiyeon became his guardian. 

Jaemin is the class clown at school. He's generally well liked by students, although people keep asking if he's okay after doing all his pranks and tricks on his youtube channel. Jaemin is easy to get along with and makes people laugh. And teachers like him even though he's kind of a pain. The funny thing is, Xiyeon sits right next to him in class and they call him out for dying his hair pink and say nothing to Xiyeon. 

Xiyeon at first finds him annoying and regrets not just eating him alive. Why is he so upbeat and mischevious? Why can't he just stay out of trouble? Xiyeon is also surprised by how Jaemin wanted to become a doctor as his penultimate wish. It was her first time meeting such a selfless human. Most humans she bargained with asked for money beyond their dreams, power, or good looks or something stupid like that whereas this little kid who just barely survived cancer wanted to explore, change and give back to the world. How thralling. At first Xiyeon just guards him while he tries to get her to open up to her. She's mostly cold and caustic and even though Jaemin sees the horrible things she's done to other people, he doesn't give up on her. He firmly believes Xiyeon is a good spirit. Once he says that out loud, he sets Xiyeon on a rampage. She disappears for a few days maybe and sends her best friend to guard Jaemin.

She thinks of just assigning the guardian task to her best friend, but realizes after awhile that Jaemin had already grown on her. His weird and goofy antics cheer her up, he shows her what it feels like to be human. Xiyeon finally understands what empathy is. 

The two are polar opposites, clash a lot and argue a lot at the beginning. Jaemin causes a lot of trouble and Xiyeon usually has to clean it up. They also bicker and tease each other a lot as they get closer. But later on they find that they have one similarity. They both searching for a place to feel like they belong. They later realize it was not a place, but rather each other.

- Because Jaemin likes animals, he is absolutely enchanted by Xiyeon in her animal or hybrid form. He loves her fluffy tails which she finds annoying but lets him pet her anyway later on. 

Jaemin, at first is very starstruck with Xiyeon. He's utterly enchanted by her. The spell wears off as he soon sees the negative parts of her: her arrogance, manipulativeness, inability to trust and her scars from the past. And he sort of resents her for taking advantage of him, until he sees the good parts of her. Xiyeon unconsciously starts treating him like less of a pet and he sees that she is just, loyal and courageous. It's strange how Xiyeon knew him like the back of her hand even though they argued a lot. That was when he knew he was in love with her.

Although Xiyeon returns his feelings later, she wonders if he truly loves a demon like her and wonders if he likes her because of the creature she is. Her kind were meant to seduce men after all. Xiyeon ends up developing a conscience because she realizes she is not the best match for him; she's not good, she's evil. When she voices these thoughts to Jaemin, he points out she would have never cared whether she was the best match for him in the beginning. He points out how Xiyeon has changed. 

How the two usually end up arguing:

Jaemin lands himself into trouble, Xiyeon has to clean it up and nags him about it. Xiyeon gets annoyed he's not listening and Jaemin usually says/does something stupid/ funny to cheer her up.

Or Xiyeon is being perfectionist about something and Jaemin can't see why she can't just go with the flow
