APPEARANCE : mikyeong stands at 5'5", weighing in at around 53kg. usually, she likes her appearance to look like she hasn't made much effort. her hair is either straight or has soft curls, and if it's just for every day, her makeup is light. the colour is mostly on her eyes and lips. she does paint her nails occasionally but she often just can't be bothered. she has a birthmark on her upper left thigh. her ears are pierced; she has multiple in her left ear and two lobe piercings on her right. she also has a small shark tattoo, because y'know, she loves sharks!

FASHION STYLE : as decided by suhyun, mikyeong's style could best be described as either a tumblr or instagram aesthetic page come to life. she loves to look like anyone she sees on those pages. she likes fashionable things, but she's not one to go out of her way to get expensive clothes. she'll be happy enough with second-hand stores and garage sale clothes honestly. if it's a lazy day, it's the usual hoodies and either leggings or loose-fit jeans. to sleep, she doesn't really wear pjs, just a large shirt and some comfy boy shorts. for parties, she likes to look cool though, so that's where she tries the most with her look because she doesn't care how her classmates see her on the average day.1 2 3 4 5

ELABORATION : mikyeong is someone who, if given the opportunity, will literally be friends with anyone she meets. whilst she isn’t the most confident person in the world, she enjoys meeting new people. it was one of the things she was most looking forward to upon coming to university. some people think that she’s naive when it comes to the important people in her life, because she’ll willingly do almost anything for her loved ones. mikyeong herself understands why people might have that idea, but in her mind she’s just a considerate person. to her, the little things are just as important as the big ones, so she’ll always be looking for ways she can help people out.

this is also where her stubbornness can come out too, however. mikyeong can be stubborn about several things: admitting she’s wrong, trying to get something done (even if it’s meaningless, she will lose sleep over something if she’s that bothered about it), and usually she’s quite stubborn about whether the thing she’s doing is good or not. For example, when her sister questions her late nights, she’ll always insist that everything is fine, even if she’s been pouring over her work half the night.

as what you might call a side effect of this, mikyeong rarely worries for herself or what’s in her best interest when someone she cares for is hurting. she’s a very kind and empathetic person, but sometimes it frustrates her friends and her family when she stops thinking about herself. and again, she gets fairly stubborn about it all, insisting that she put others first.

aside from all the stubbornness, mikyeong is easy to get along with. she likes to think she’s one of the funnier ones in her little group of friends despite being told numerous times by suhyun that “laughing at your own joke doesn’t count as getting a laugh”. truthfully, she is a very witty person. she might not have the funniest jokes but when it comes to quick wit humour, she’s your girl. she’s the first one to turn something you say, even if it’s only a few words, into a playful jab at you, or some kind of terrible pun/dad joke and she loves nothing more than to annoy kiseok with this “ability”.

mikyeong also tends to find herself worrying about school more often than not. her friends say she’s too much of a stress-head sometimes and mikyeong knows and admits it to be true, that being one of the few things she’s not stubborn about! even though she never leaves her work until the last minute, and she never misses a class, she still stresses out and tells herself that she’s not going to get an assignment done or something is going to come up and she won’t make it to her classes. her friends and especially her sister have often tried to tell her that she has nothing to worry about, but mikyeong already knows. she just can’t help it. she likes to plan things out to make sure everything with schoolwork goes accordingly.

one of the things that makes her worry the most is that she can be very easily distracted. she can be in one of her classes writing notes, and become distracted in doodling on the page, only to miss half of what the teacher was saying. sometimes she even loses her train of thought halfway through a sentence because she started thinking about something else entirely. most of the time however she’s able to just laugh about this and make her usual jokes with her friends. she tries her best to never get distracted that way when she’s with daeun though.

mikyeong is someone who loves to create things, and not just movies either! since she makes her own movies, both for class and for her own enjoyment, she creates her own special effects for it too. she loves to get her ideas down in drawings first, and always has a book on hand to draw in should she be inspired by something out in the world. she’s a very intelligent girl too despite the bad attention span, so she enjoys sitting for hours either reading about film and the industry or watching videos to learn brand new techniques for her effects.

despite being quite a clever person, mikyeong is a bit more impulsive than she would like. sometimes, she just wont think a decision through and say yes to something she really shouldn’t. though she does like this about herself because it’s given her a lot of great things, it’s a curse also, because it means she buys a lot of things she doesn’t need, orders more takeout than she should. she’s often times a bit dramatic too, so paired with this it can be quite difficult to deal with her. she’ll have knowingly spent a lot of money on something and the next day she might be going off at herself about it dramatically, and won’t listen to anyone for at least a few hours. this can happen over a lot of things, but by this point in life daeun is really the only one still getting used to that.

PICTURE PERFECT?

mikyeong has always appreciated how fortunate she was to be born into a loving family. she was born to her doting parents dami and kyungsoon, and closely guarded by her caring big sister mijeong. they raised her and her sister in busan, where she attended school like any normal kid. she didn’t have a huge group of friends growing up but she had a few good people in her early years. there wasn’t much that happened in her life then, things were as normal as you could imagine. she did well in school, was well behaved (most of the time). it was high school where things really took shape in her life.

around about a month after she started high school, her father passed away after suffering a sudden heart attack at work. it shattered mikyeong, and she had to take time off for a little while. she had a difficult time talking to anyone in school when she returned. her old friends who went to the same school had made new friends and forgotten about her it seemed. they expressed their condolences to her, but didn’t invite her to sit with them at lunch anymore, didn’t invite her to anything at all. she figured they had more popular friends now. that was when she first met suhyun.

suhyun approached her at lunch one day, and asked if she could join her since she looked like she needed a friend. by that point, mikyeong was happy to have anyone to talk to. she and suhyun hit it off quickly, and became best friends almost right away. it was in their second year of high school that both girls decided they wanted to work in the film industry. they loved watching movies together and even joined clubs for it. mikyeong’s favourite genre was always horror. sometime in the next year, she told suhyun she wanted to be able to do the makeup they did in the scary movies. suhyun let her practice on her, regularly scaring mikyeong’s mom and sister half to death whenever they saw her. high school was also the time that mikyeong became aware of her uality, and she wondered if her old friends had realised it first. her mother, sister and suhyun were all accepting of her being gay, though it took her mother a while and there's still that sense of tension there from time to time.

despite the fun she had then, mikyeong struggled with depression after the loss of her father and friends. whilst it was never too severe, some days where much harder than others. to this day, she hasn’t completely overcome it yet, but she's much better than she was. she occasionally has a moment in time where it can be bad, but it’s not a very common thing. it’s often in a time of great stress. suhyun always helped to try and make her feel better, by taking her away from the house where it was just the two of them, and then filming their own little movies on suhyun’s dad’s crappy old camera. mikyeong always knew there wasn’t really such thing as an easy life, and she was grateful to have wonderful family and a great friend to help her.

after graduating, mikyeong and suhyun both decided to take a few years to ready themselves for university life. whilst they were dead set on what they wanted to do, they didn't feel ready. mikyeong turned 20 not long after graduation, and spent the next year working two jobs, so she would have enough money for herself, and to give her mom what she could to support her through paying rent. by then her older sister had already married and moved out with her husband, and had given birth to a daughter, so mikyeong was happy enough to help despite her mother insisting she should keep her money. she eventually started applying for courses with suhyun, and not long before her 22nd birthday, she moved away to university.

LIKES
- rain; she loves everything about the rain, from the sound it makes to the smell it leaves behind. plus the fact that it's kinda romantic sometimes
- horror movies; though she loves movies in general, her favourite genre is horror
- disney; a bit different from horror but she loves it all the same. her favourite disney movie is probably cinderella
- technology; she'd probably wither and die without all her electronics, namely her cameras, laptops and beloved phone
- video games; she absolutely loves video games. she doesn't have consoles but she does have a second laptop just for games. some of her favourites include sims, and the american mcgee's alice games.
- classical music; she really likes classical music, it helps her to relax after particularly stressful days.
- drama shows; she's always watching either crime or medical shows, she can't get enough!
- doctor who; she's always been a total nerd for the world of doctor who
- criticism; she likes to improve herself and her work, so she's always open to it
- studio ghibli; she's a huge fan of the ghibli movies, her favourite probably being howl's moving castle (which she also owns the book of!)

DISLIKES
- dirty rooms; she's far from being a neat freak but she can't stand an untidy room.
- mushrooms; try to feed her one and she'll launch it at you. aggressively.
- eating healthy; though she doesn't dislike healthy food, she hates actually having to eat it regularly - you're more likely to see a cheeseburger on her plate than a salad
- people who change depending on who they're with; mikyeong has never understood people like this, and she's always said that she wouldn't want anyone to act differently with her than they do anyone else
- selfishness; mikyeong hates selfish people with a passion and cannot tolerate them
- lettuce; people call weed the devil's lettuce but to mikyeong the devil's lettuce is just actual lettuce
- coffee; she works at a coffee shop but hates coffee, go figure! she does love the smell though
- romcoms; she finds them kind of annoying, though she likes movies in the genres separately
- elevators; she doesn't like them at all, she's always scared they're going to either break down with her inside or the cable will snap
- bugs; though not the type to straight up squish a bug she finds in the house, she doesn't like bugs at all

HABITS
- nagging; half the time she doesn't even realise, like she can walk into the dorm looking at her phone and tell someone to wash something or put something away
- hair; if she's nervous or feeling uneasy, she'll play with her hair to focus on something other than her thoughts
- falling over stuff; it can literally be the smallest object in the world and she'll still find a way to trip over it
- selfies; it's the main reason why her phone is constantly dying, she just loves selfies (but she's not vain by any means!)
- laughing when she shouldn't; do i need to say more?
- avoiding eye contact when lying; she doesn't really lie often but when she does, she's bad at it anyway as her lack of eye contact will always give her away
- staying awake till ungodly hours; sometimes that one episode leads into that whole season, and that's okay
- ruining papers; though she keeps her room and other things in order, she shoves papers from school and anything else straight into her bag and crumples them beyond recognition

HOBBIES
- making short films; since she's a film student, she's always making her own little movies when she can, usually horror.
- practicing sfx; even though she can't always film horror project for her classes, she practices the makeup for her own horror films.
- playing video games; she's an avid gamer, and sometimes gets that tiny bit too competitive playing online games
- reading; she loves to get into a good book, particularly if written by stephen king or ray bradbury
- planning activities; she loves to do things with her friends & girlfriend, so she's always planning fun things for them to do (and date nights too)

ROLE : some would say she's the mom of the dorm but she's not responsible enough for that. mikyeong is just the one that makes sure everything stays clean, mostly because she can't help herself. she's also the one who suggests movie night every night.

LIFESTYLE : mikyeong enjoys living in the dorm. she always comes out of her room in the mornings to greet everyone whilst getting breakfast, and if people are home she likes to sit and chat with them for a while before going off to do her own thing. she keeps her room clean and she rarely leaves dishes or trash out in the communal area

PET PEEVE(S)
- loud eating; if you value your existence, you'll keep your mouth shut when you eat with mikyeong
- piles of dirty dishes; it bugs mikyeong to see dishes stacking up, which is the reason she nags
- people being condescending; it drives mikyeong absolutely insane if someone is condescending towards her
- slow walkers; mikyeong hates being stuck behind slow people, especially if 1) she's late or 2) they're on their phones (she doesn't mind if they're old though)
- being left on read; if she sees someone's message, she'll reply, so she would appreciate if people did the same for her
- people eating in her room; she chooses to never eat in there unless she's sick, so it annoys her when other people do (especially when they leave crumbs everywhere)

ROOM DESIGN :

mikyeong loves a stylish bedroom. she loves to have a lot of wall decor including horror movie posters, little pieces of artwork, fairylights etc. she likes neutral tones when it comes to other decoration, like her bed spreads, cushions, rugs. the fluffy chair cover she has it one of her favourite things, and it makes doing work a lot more bearable! she likes to have a few candles, preferably vanilla or a musky scent. flowers are always a plus, and she has a few on hanging wall holders, as well as one on her desk and on her bedside table. her laptop she uses for school always stays on the desk, accompanied by books. in the corner of the room, she has her tripod for filming, and in a small shelf next to it, her cameras. on the wall opposite her bed, she has a collage of polaroids of her and her friends and family, as well as her girlfriend.

THE FAM, THE SQUAD AND THE OTHERS

JEON SUHYUN (AKA THE NON-LITERAL LOVE OF MY LIFE)

best friend #1: 10/10 : passionate, loving, spontaneous, headstrong, intelligent
since the day they met in high school, mikyeong and suhyun have been as thick as thieves. they would always sit beside each other wherever they got the chance, and got closer and closer as the years went by. having loved the same things and being interested in the same kind of career, they chose to study film together at university. they're 100% the type of friends who's intense love and care for one another will only ever come out in the form of insult jokes. as a general rule, they never really take themselves very seriously, unless it comes to making up new, stupid nicknames for kiseok, such as cat boy. suhyun is always the one pushing mikyeong to do things if she'd doubtful of anything, and will always tell her she can do it no matter what. she's not afraid to open up about her troubles to mikyeong, and will offer her any advice she can for her own problems in life. essentially, suhyun is like mikyeong's 2nd sister, and she wouldn't know what to do without her! fc: jimin park

best friend #2: 9/10 : kind, honest, talkative, lazy, sarcastic
mikyeong met kiseok in her first week of university. both she and suhyun were invited to a house party by someone in their film class, and kiseok was also an attendee. they met him whilst he was already drunk and telling the persons cat how special it was and that he loved it. in that moment, mikyeong knew he was someone she had to be friends with. kiseok has two cats of his own that mikyeong adores,(seol and soju) and in the beginning kiseok thought that was the only reason she wanted to be his friend. but soon enough the two & suhyun formed a great friendship. kiseok is a fairly sarcastic person, sometimes even mikyeong can't tell if he's being serious or not. he's one of those people who expects you to understand sarcasm through a bland text message and gets annoyed when you don't. he's kind of lazy so he's always the last one to show up when they meet, and always blames it on the cats even though mikyeong & suhyun know better. after one incident of him meowing whilst drunk, they always poke fun at him and say how he wishes he was a real cat. jokes aside, kiseok is a very sweet guy and will do anything for you if he cares about you, as he does with the girls. and mikyeong thinks he might have a thing for suhyun, but she's still flexing her detective skills to try and figure out for sure. fc: seo kangjoon

older sister : 9/10 : protective, supportive, short-tempered, selfless, workaholic
mijeong is, in every sense of the word, motherly. at 30 years old, she's quite a bit older than mikyeong, and she milks it for all it's worth. since she knows she'll see mikyeong more than their actual mom, she always takes it upon herself to check in on her regularly to make sure that she's doing well. she'll scold her if she's waking up too late or if she hasn't eaten at the time she calls, and sometimes it frustrates mikyeong. but she loves her sister too much to ever say anything against her, and she knows she only means well. they've been close for as long as mikyeong can remember, since mijeong helped out whilst she was still a baby. she would always pick her up from school when they were both young, and it always made mikyeong feel safe. when they see each other these days, it's always a lot of jokes from mikyeong and life advice and sometimes extra food from mijeong. mikyeong admires her sister, since she has a good job, a good life and a beautiful family (her husband and 3 year old daughter). she also likes to convince her to get drinks with her whenever she stops for a visit, because she knows she'll 100% get drunk right away. they bicker like your usual siblings and sometimes mikyeong just zones out if mijeong is particularly difficult. but at the end of the day, they're still the best friends they've always been. fc: ha jiwon

Awesome! Okay, so as you can see, I am having a huge trouble on finding some roomies for the hugeass room which where we are right now. First things first, do you want to live here? i do. i was supposed to live with my best friend this year but she's having to commute from her aunt's house because of finance, so i'm in need of a place to live!

What can you do? Can you do the laundry? Set up the appliances? Clean the whole dorm? Help us with our thesis? Oh, can you cook too?? well yeah, i can do the basics like laundry and cooking and stuff. appliances, not so much, i'm liable to destroy our entire dorm trying to set up a washing machine.

Can you make homemade kimchi? This is for homework! i wish, i love that stuff. i should've got my mom to teach me.

LOVE OF MY LIFE

PERSONALITY : daeun is a very quiet girl who appears to be shy before you get to know her. she’s not someone who makes friends well on her own, and it isn’t down to any trust issues, she just generally is a shy girl before she opens up to anyone. once she does, you’ll find that she’s quite talkative! she enjoys spending time with her friends and having a good time with them. daeun was always raised to be focused on studying and getting a perfect education, which is why she never really bothered to have many friends. she realised upon coming to university however that having friends was something she really needed. whilst it takes her some time to actually talk to people and befriend them, she opens up rather quickly if she gets on particularly well with them. she can be funny when she wants to be and is very good at self-deprecating humour (though most of it isn’t really how she feels).

as said, daeun is very studious. she spends a lot of time working on her literature assignments and will never miss a class. despite this, she’s never one to judge people who aren’t the same as her. she knows that her work ethic is only so strict because her parents engrained it into her that this was how it was supposed to be, but as she grew older daeun knew that wasn’t true for everyone. even still, she stuck with her ways until now because it was what her parents wanted, even though they didn’t really want her to study literature. daeun chose literature because she wanted to be an author.

daeun can be quite particular about some things, which often causes a bit of stress for herself and mikyeong. for example, she can struggle to make decisions about things, which leads mikyeong to impulsively decide for her depending on what it is (such as going somewhere with people), and daeun getting frustrated over it. mikyeong always apologises for it, and daeun knows that she means well. she overthinks things a lot, which is the biggest reason behind this. though she’s usually punctual in her daily life, there are times when her overthinking leads her to make a decision right at the last minute and end up being late or not able to do it.

daeun is a bookworm too. even if she wasn’t studying a course that required a lot of reading, she’d still be found regularly with her nose (and mind) buried into a book. she’s big on sci-fi, fantasy and crime novels, and she has so many books at her place that mikyeong continues to fall over them whenever she visits. her favourite book that she’s read (so far) is the illustrated man by ray bradbury. she’s definitely someone who will get so lost in a book that she’ll stop being able to hear you if you speak to her. she hopes one day she can create a fictional world that makes people feel the way she does about some of her favourite tales. (and mikyeong said she’d turn it into a movie!)

though she’s particular about a lot of things, when it comes to food daeun literally will eat anything. even she says it’s the one thing she and mikyeong connect on at a spiritual level; they both really just love food. daeun isn’t fussy about eating, no matter where she is. of course, she has the odd few things she doesn’t like, such as mushrooms (like mikyeong), sweetcorn, and cucumbers, but overall she’s the ideal person to make food for, because she’ll eat basically anything you give her!

daeun is a very kind girl, but she’s cautious about her kindness unlike mikyeong as she knows how people can take advantage of those who give to them so freely. if she cares about you, she will do a hell of a lot for you, and she will always be there if you need her. otherwise, she’s careful about who she does favours for. she wouldn’t borrow money out to people she didn’t know well for example, unless she could tell it was absolutely an emergency. generally speaking though, daeun is a good person (and mikyeong loves her for it!).

FIRST MEETING : mikyeong and daeun first met halfway through their second year of university. they often laugh about the fact that their meeting is literally the biggest cliche. the two met in the library of the university, when mikyeong accidentally knocked daeun's things off the desk she was using. when she was apologising, mikyeong recognised daeun. "have we met?" "oh yeah, at haseul's party!" she had seen her before at the same house party she met kiseok at, and at a few other parties since. she felt a sudden nervousness seeing her up-close though, and was at a loss for words. mikyeong thought she was gorgeous. as she and suhyun were about to leave, she quickly asked if daeun wanted to hang out with them the next day and grab lunch together. daeun happily accepted, admitting with a laugh that she could use more friends. they exchanged numbers, and parted ways.

DEVELOPEMENT : after the day in the library, mikyeong found herself spending much more time with daeun. she got along well with suhyun and kiseok which made things more comfortable and easy. mikyeong found it amusing that she took to calling kiseok cat boy very quickly. she almost felt proud. but she soon began to realise that despite all this, she didn't actually know if daeun was even into girls. she decided to ask suhyun if she could find out for her, to which suhyun agreed. suhyun caught up with daeun on campus one day after that and asked her what kind of relationships she'd had, mentioning her own brief ex-boyfriend to try and get it out of her. suhyun smiled when daeun admitted she'd had a girlfriend in the past, though she did pity her since it sounded like it ended badly. "my ex-girlfriend was... difficult. i could say much worse but i'm a good christian girl."

as a result of them talking, daeun began to confide in suhyun when they were alone. at first, suhyun thought she might have been into her since she was the one who asked after all, and she worried that mikyeong would get the wrong idea. daeun soon began to distance herself from the group, only talking with suhyun over the phone. suhyun chose not to tell mikyeong this was happening. she could tell by now that daeun wasn't actually into her, but daeun herself wouldn't tell her the reason why she started to become distant. mikyeong and kiseok wondered where she was when they would meet up for lunch, and mikyeong had noticed that if she ever saw daeun, daeun wouldn't look at her. eventually, she grew tired. they hadn't spoken in weeks, and mikyeong was upset that none of them got a reason why. suhyun decided to finally tell her the truth, despite knowing how angry she might be. though mikyeong wasn't angry, she was just frustrated. she decided that she would find daeun and get her explanation.

mikyeong ran into daeun on campus and asked her if they could have a chat somewhere. daeun resisted at first, but she felt guilty, and eventually agreed. mikyeong asked her what was going on and if she was alright. she told her that if she was having problems, they were all there for her. daeun tried to insist that there was nothing, but as mikyeong persisted, she came out with the truth. "i like you, okay? i started to like you, like really like you and i got scared because my last relationship was so ty i just didn't need or want that again. i thought it would be easier to distance myself but it's hard when you really like someone." mikyeong was surprised. she had never experienced a relationship yet, so she couldn't understand daeun's feelings completely. regardless, she asked daeun if she wanted to go on a date, and that she would prove to her that it would be worth it. after that, the pair went on a lot more dates together, and daeun came back to hang out with the other two. right before the end of their first year, mikyeong asked her to officially be her girlfriend.
