GNOMMISH gnommish is the name for faery language. it's what his mother spoke when she wasn't on duty, it's what he was taught a long side his kingdom language. the language is much like egyptian language. you have to decipher it. when heard it sounds as though you are hearing bits of melodies put together. faery language is know to be is much easier to read, than to hear and speak. even the slightest bit of off tune could up you're whole sentence.

appearance. a striking man, honestly. neul never fails to gather attention from those around. males nor females. it could be due to his faery side but he simply just glows (in a natural way). from his his frame : wide shoulders, paired with a lean, only slightly muscular body(earned from training and what not). to his skin : smooth, speckle free, and slightly sun-kissed. to his face : soft yet strong features, plump lips. and to even his hair :silky, soft black. there aren't any specific traits he has physically and that's simply because he is only half faery. but when he uses his powers his brown eyes turns a glowing gold.

a level-headed man. naturally a thinker before getting into action. thought, there are times he doesn't need to think because his mind is already made up (like killing other pirates without hesitation). there's not a chance you you will see neul get worked up, rather it be over something truly exciting or something that'd make any normal person angry.and rather than a yelling voice, the most you'll hear is calm irritation (like when he's speaking with johnny) or disgust grace his tone. it get's rather irksome to some because it gives off the air of 'i don't care.' or 'im too good for this situation'. not the case for neul. he does care a lot, actually. he just has a great way of hiding it. with his expression usually on neutral it's pretty hard to decipher how exactly neul feels with his calm disposition.
it takes an observant eye to notice the change in neul's exterior, no matter how small, when it occurs. because it does. neul is still human after all. well, he's half, but that's besides the point.

some call it giving tough love, other call it being honest. neul calls it not giving a . there is no hesitation in his words, no sugar, or soft cousin provided after giving a hard blow to the face. with his words of course. in blunter terms, neul is harsh. while he does not readily show his feelings or deeper thoughts filled with emotion, he knows how to deliver some words that need to be said (or don't) regardless of the situations.
"a man should be honest and straight forward" were the words his father engrained into him. of course, he took this and put a spin on it.
and there isn't a moment of regret. well..maybe. but other's don't need to know that.
while he may not apologize for his how he said it or what he said. he will show subtle ways to show he he feels bad that it hurt you're feelings. but this only applies to those he's close to.

if it wasn't obvious before, neul has a mouth on him. a mouth that sprouts snarky, sarcastic comments at every chance given and doesn't apologize for it either. he's seen as a rude because of this. but contrary to (a pretty true) belief, neul is good with his words despite how rudely brief he comes off. charming and well spoken, those who actually have the pleasure of hearing him speaking civilly are immediately smitten. he speaks as though he's reading poetry. soft and comforting is best way to describe it. much different from his usual curt speech.
neul's reason for being "antisocial" is simply out of fear. a fear of having loved ones in his life, people he has built a bond with. he thinks that if he keeps others at an distance, no matter what, it'll thin the attachment he has built up. he wants love but he wants it at a safe distance. like his cousin jisoo, for example. he doesn't want to be directly involved with anyone. as soon as he finds himself doing so he immediately puts more distance. this troublesome trait has not only stopped many of his relationships from developing but has broken relationships as well. "i just can't get through to you can i!" he has heard many times.
it isn't just his distance that has called trouble but his distrust as well. anyone who comes before him is met with a cold treatment. you are seen as any enemy to him. does not trust your very being. no matter how nice you appear to be, no matter how good your reputation, and no matter how sweet your smile is.

jokes? playing around? keep that somewhere else, neul doesn't have time for it. bull? don't even bother, neul really has no time for that either. he's likely to keep out those who are bothering him with such things.yeah, it the fun out of most things before neul would rather not bother trouble himself with things that aren't necessary. which includes "fun things" by his captain's definition. so basically, if it ain't on course with what he has set, he's not stopping for it. it's great that he's a reliable person who you can trust to keep things afloat but also pretty boring.
being the reliable person he is, neul get's his or any other job you give him done well. call him an overachiever, or maybe jus a meticulous person, but when neul does something expect it to be carried out in a precise and diligent way. every detail, no matter how small, is planned and executed.
BACKGROUND.
NEAR THE SMALL OPENING IS WHERE HE SAT, EYES SHUT, HAND SUPPORTING HIS CHIN,AND FACE TURNED UP TOWARDS THE WINDOW. the breeze THAT CAME from THE OPENING brushed AGAINST his face LIGHTLY. a faint smile graced his lips as HE REMINISCED. light knocks RESONATES THROUGH HIS QUIET ROOM. HIS SMILE DROPS INSTANTLY.HE'S BROUGHT BACK TO REALITY.
YOUR MOTHER WAS AN AMAZING PERSON.
neul knew this. what was this man's point? is what he thought. "his smile is so obviously fake. who even was he?" his cousin jisoo had whispered to him after the encounter. neul knew not who these family members were. the young boy had stopped caring after meeting jisoo. jisoo had been the only family member who could tolerate to be around. the only family member who was not like the others.
his father had a lot of enemies. a lot of enemies on the same team (and same family, he later discovered). enemies who wanted his position, his life. neul also knew this. they were the most joyish, his father's "weakness" had been exposed and struck. and with his father in his "weakened state" this left the kid he so proudly bragged about up for grabs as well. as if they expected his father would neglect him, leaving neul to depend on them. neul was no naive fool. "a bunch of sick old people, they are." a repeated thought after every 'i'm here for you' (forgetting to add his father into it all) and "be sure to visit, if it get's to be too much" he got from one of his distant relatives or "close aunt".along with a squeeze to his knee or a pat to his lower back. he has never wished so hard for someone's hands to be cut off and burned to ash so badly.
my mother's life.
a war had broke out when neul was around the age 11. his mother and father being such high ranked offers for the royal navy, automatically put them in the war. neul, knew this war could make or break his kingdom. his parents whispered-yelled about it every chance they got behind closed doors neul eavesdropped in front of. who knew, the making of the kingdom was at the cost of his mother's life? neul didn't, that's who.
"she over used her powers in the end. there was nothing we could do." is what they said. young neul didn't think it was possible. "she had been a full faery, how?" he questioned back. it was only after the funeral ended, and her faery sisters and brother had come to retrieve her body, did his questioned had been answered. having a child drained her. then overusing her powers in the war killed her.
his father may have needed a shoulder the most. sure, neul had loved his mother dearly. it seemed to hit his father hard. the man had turned into a zombie. him crying and isolating himself isn't want the man needed to come home and see. so he had "toughened up" for the father who couldn't even visit his mother's tomb in the faery realm simply because he didn't have a drop of faery in him. "new flowers surrounds her every month." he describes to his father after every visit. a smile on his pretty face(that so heavily resemble his mother's) lightened up his father's mood every time. he kept those pesky relatives his father seemed to trust so much away from (deliberately) worsening the old man's mood. he humored them by accepting there offers for tea he never drunk or walks around the town, his hand playing with the pocket knife hidden in his trousers.
a horrible incident may has occurred but it brought the two closer than ever. pretty soon, the tears neul hid until night fell, stopped.
while his father may not have been like his mother, he provided help the best way he could. like, giving his mother's journals (that documented her powers and progression) to him. attached to the books was a stern warning from his father "limit yourself." neul intended to just that. since he was homeschooled, neul spent the mornings studying then the rest of the day practicing his powers, sparring, or studying his father's boat.
slowly, the two began the (genuinely) smile again.
until both couldn't.
my father's life.
"one more mission and i'll retire. we'll run the boat shop together and live happily like your mother wanted." is what his father promised. the shop was already doing well. it wouldn't take long especially with the rulers stamp proudly displayed in front.
it was supposed to be a small battle. a ridding of a few pest that had showed up and caused trouble. but something went wrong, and his father's life was the outcome.
"why does it always have to be a life?"
" im sorr-"
he cut the man off. neul didn't want to hear any apologies. he wanted to know who had murdered his fathers and how. his father wasn't some easy slay. the young lad's heart seems to break further as he finds out the attackers were dead seconds later, right after striking his father in the head with a bullet.
rage, sadness, something should should have followed. just a blank face with glass eyes. the tears were there, but they didn't fall. neul didn't know why.
YOUR FATHER WAS A GREAT MAN
neul, didn't cry. just nodded his head. face void of any emotion at that point, mind playing vicious thoughts. his cousin had been by his side throughout the whole ideal. just like last time (with his mother). though, she said nothing. held her comments about his odd behavior and deadly aura with tight lips. all these faces he hadn't seen since his father was doing good, had come again. offering fake smiles(again) and insincere apologies for his loss(again). greedy humans talked of there "good times" with neul just shortly before they asked indiscreetly what a young boy was going to do with that land and business. poor him, having to deal with running a business. he must wanted to live his life freely right?
"could they get more obvious?"
they didn't just want neul's property. the ones that were close enough to his father that is. but him as well. his relatives talked on who would get him. but it wasn't in a "i don't want the burden" kind of way. more like a 'prize to be won' 'trophy' that should go to the most deserving. he was still a young man, after all. the 16 year old couldn't take care of himself just yet. he needed guidance especially after his father's passing
but neul wasn't having any of that. he shut down everyone.
there was no more smiles, no more or much of anything from him. his family eventually turned their backs on him completely. something he more or less expected considering they all were selfish, money hungry human beings. well, all except his cousin jisoo. he was thankful for her, but wasn't at the same time. he didn't want her close by. but knowing her she'd do what she want. so he busied himself. not wanting anything to do with that business, he gave her the free reign over it. though his name still read "owner".
he didn't need an adult to watch over him, nor his shop until he was old enough. just a few perks given to him from the royals since his father's death.
the money left to him went to a new home for,not to far from his family home his cousin was staying in as per request of him. a win-win for both. she didn't have to marry nor rely on her parents;she could be as independent as she wanted.
for the next few years, neul just spent his time traveling alone (months at a time) and making maps for the royals if needed (his second main source of income) or high-paying business owners in the kingdoms he visited . along with those travels came relationships that went no where and left a trail of broken hearts that just wanted neul to open up and stay.
after a year of absence( instead of the usual months at a time), age 20 is when neul comes home. his family home this time. to a very angry cousin that sends him on errands after slapping him multiple times. he returned but he didn't stay for long.
neul's hate towards pirates was a known fact. or at least it should have been. captain johnny clearly didn't get the memo. or maybe he did but didn't care. he should have because after waking up from his drug-induced sleep, neul had killed two trying to escape. and he would try again if given the chance. but captain johnny had been persuasive, and his threats had been detailed. while neul was not scared of the threats, or the dying (because johnny was a man of his word). he was scared of leaving this world without letting a loved one know.
neul literally could not leave this world without saying his goodbyes to jisoo. as much as he tried to distance himself from her and break their relationship down, he couldn't. he cares a lot for that sassy girl. and he knows she cares a lot for him too. so he cooperates but still distrust those around him. his request for his obedience was doing his thing, no interference from anyone.
eventually, neul and the other crew grow on each other. he will never admit that out loud but he cares for them deep down.
HOW DID NEUL MEET JOHNNY? at a nice little shop that sold tea and other herbs to go. he was there on an errand for his cousin, before he left off for another solo journey. neul knew he was being followed but he made no move to stop and confront the person. if they aren't causing trouble for him, why bother? also, it wouldn't be the first time that a person(man or women), has followed him. people tend to do such strange things simply because he was a beautiful man. not to mention, neul was a man who could defend himself. the stranger could try it if they wish.
after his identity and purpose for following was revealed, neul, neul didn't bother keeping it civil. eyes glinting with malice, he declined the pirates offer on harshly and left about his business. "and if you knew what's good for you, you won't approach me again". he didn't, but the man's first mate did.
what made him join the crew? force is what made neul join. or more specifically, being kidnaped, a series of failed attempts to escape, and multiple detailed threats.
how would he describe his relationship with the other princes? in the beginning neul hated everyone. which showed very clearly from his actions and the fire in his eyes. eventually, neul warmed up to them. by the 3 years was way less hostile, and you could even say he was very close to the weaponsmaster. he still has a strong dislike towards the first mate but has his moments where he isn't so tough on him. neutral with the more recent ones except saw-bones. he may be the second he's closest to. though the only thing they share is an exchange of snappy words (their own playful banter).
how would he describe his relationship with johnny? hate at first then blossomed to love-hate. still doesn't appreciate being taken away from his family. no meant no. so he hasn't comes to terms with forgiving him yet for it. doesn't consider him a savior, or anything equally as highly. an annoyance more like it. tells him so too. unfortunately has (and still does) spend a lot of time with him because he's the navigator. so on some notes, neul believes captain johnny has his moments when he is decent to be around. knows he cares for his crew, including him. so maybe that makes him appreciate him a bit more.

COUSIN — NA, JISOO. 23 Y.O boat business co-owner — kim jisoo, bp — human — closeness, 8 — jisoo is about the only family neul has left. well, sort of. he has a couple of uncles and aunts left. but they aren't exactly on speaking terms. after his father passed, the money, the estate, and his father's small but booming boating business was left to him. angry that he wasn't going to share anything that his father left behind, his family turned there backs on him. except his younger cousin jisoo. she's a smart girl who's just as snappy as neul. from youth-hood the two gravitated towards each other. he trust her a whole lot. which is why he allowed her to stay in his home and run his father's business while he was away. when they're together it's hard to tell if they get along. but after some observation you can see the playful bickering over something small, the pointed, in side joke type of looks, and the subtle affectionate touches they give each other. jisoo has some bitter feelings towards her cousin however, and always makes some snappy comment in her letters to him. it mostly due to his lack of presence back home. she knows why he doesn't spend much time with her and hates it. she rarely sees him, only getting to talk to him through letters.

as much as neul likes to deny it. this group of men are his friends. some he's close to more than others. some meaning one (weaponsmaster).
FIRST MATE / KLAHAN not particularly fond of this one but doesn't hate him. though it may seem like it. has his moments when he's not as ty. both tend to threaten each other but they go right over each other's head.
WEAPONSMASTER / KAITO smitten with this one. neul's favoritism is obvious by the way he interacts with kaito. talks to him in a much gentler way than the others. well, as gentle as neul try to be.
CAPTAIN / JOHNNY love-hate relationship, honestly. has to spend time with this one so naturally there relationship is on a good basis. but he still dislikes him for a number of reasons. talks back whenever, however. has tendency to scold despite being younger whenever the captain decides to do something neul doesn't like.

PIRATES this does not apply to his crew — neul despises them. it may seem a bit odd considering he is a pirate himself but the lad doesn't really care his hate for them won't just go away just because of that little thing. as someone who isn't really the volant type, or someone to mercilessly kill someone, neul doesn't hesitate when killing another pirate. why? to satisfy his anger and hatred for not being to kill the pirate who killed his father.

capabilities
the user can gain a direct visual information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the user's physical sight and allows them to act when they are unable to use their eyes and allows them to hear things at distances. not only that, but they can sense/see/hear spiritual/psychic beings and other person's presence and perceive emotions, thoughts and memories of others. some users can project themselves onto the spiritual world. as a half faery, neul is not one of those individuals.
techniques. because it would cause trouble for neul if he tried to learn each and every one of these. especially considering he's half human. it would be too much for his body. he only focused on powering and perfecting one. the other ones aren't fully developed so he's only able to do those for a short periods of time.
1. dream scrying: to dream actual ongoing far-off events.
2. PSYCHIC NAVIGATION to locate people/objects or create a mental map of an area.
deeper explanation. the power to track people/objects with one’s mind and/or create mental maps of an area.
capabilities. the user can trace where targeted objects/subjects are located, but can’t identify a specific locale unless they are highly experienced (which neul is) or in short range. can tell if target is progressing. they have psychic compass within them, feeling a magnetic pull towards the direction to the target. the user can also create a mental map of an area to prevent getting lost or quickly reach the exit.
3. shared vision: to view another users sight.
deeper explaination the user of this power can share the sight of two or multiple people, the power can let other people see what user is seeing from their point of view. the user can even let others see the user's past sights and scenes as a way to relay information to them.
problems for neul, this is a lot bit of a problem. because he isn't all that skilled, he has a tendency to use this power on people accidently. it usually occurs when he's thinking too hard. the main reason it's so troublesome is because it's uses up energy regardless if the person has viewed anything or not. and when neul tries to stop himself from looking into someone's past, it causes bad headaches as a side effect.
4. visual linking: to link one's vision to others.
THE WEAPONS. neul only has one weapon that he uses and that is his father's sliver, french flintlock pistol. it has been in his family for about two generations now and is very important to him. LOOKS LIKE THIS
HOW neul FIGHTS. while neul is a navigator, and seems as though he 's an easy target, he's actually pretty skilled. and this is mostly due to his father who was a navy general. he maybe not be strong with his hits as the cap, first mate or weaponsmaster but he's quick and can do some real damage. neul's fight style is hitting pressure points with the tips of his fingers (a/n: think ty lee from avatar with her chi-blocking).

SKILLS/ABILITIES.
FAERY DUST. one thing neul is not limited on having is ,faery dust. it takes him relatively no energy to make faery dust. this faery dust can be used to shape and attack other's with. won't cause a lot of damage unless user has a enough skill to solidify it. which also takes a lot of energy. though, it depended on how much dust you're trying to solidify.
MAKING MAPS. by using his powers, and being a detailed person, neul is able to make the best map you have ever seen. there detailed in every way possible. from the realistic drawings of routes to there's little side notes placed neatly on the side what lies a head on those routes, if there are any shortcuts (are they dangerous), etc.
CHI-BLOCKING. he didn't get to learn a more brutal way of attacking an enemy from his father due to his death but neul did learn chi-blocking. it's basically a series of precise jabs to the victim's pressure points. it leaves the other's muscles useless and temporarily disabled.
SHORTCOMINGS.
RANDOM USAGE OF POWERS. because neul focused on only mastering one of his abilities and getting the others at a certain level, his other powers are a bit harder to regain control over. which basically means he could start using them at any given moment. however, he usually stops them before his vision is fully shared with another. this leaves him with a mild headache when he does.

BACKGROUND. unfortunate circumstances killed his family. over a decade of abuse - ual, physical, verbal, etc - during which he had several years in solitude except for these sessions at the hands of his noble-status "master." an awakening of powers that led him to be attached to a half-dragon daeryong who he grows close to. daeryong's death and the noble's subsequent method in keeping kaito from escaping - part drowning, part oxygen deprivation. freeing himself in desperation to protect others under the noble's thumb in exchange for himself. preparation for death only to find his new captain doesn't care about his tears. ptsd. his suicidal thoughts muffled by the agreement until muted by love for the entire crew.

WEAPONS AND FIGHTING STYLE.
weapons DAGGERS carries two to seven blades of varying lengths on his person; some hidden, some not; tries to avoid throwing them; uses a more close-range fighting style; most commonly used; also used if magic is an element of surprise or a secret for this mission ICE BLADES. combining dagger with glaciokinesis; uses dagger as a base for a larger, ice-made sword; usually cutlass or broadsword; when daggers are a disadvantage or need longer reach for battle WEAPONS OF OPPORTUNITY. pretty much anything reachable in his environment; adapts it into his current battle; unafraid to fight dirty if it'll let him win; ex: sand, heavy vase, brick, wooden plank, etc & fighting style CLAY unafraid to fight dirty. picked up different styles from the people he fought against / practiced with. kept what worked and discarded what didn't. ended up with moves from those of his pirate crew, his enemies, etc. his only original fighting moves are those involving ice and a majority of ideas came from others. not to say he doesn't think while fighting but that his moves aren't original; instead, his style is fluid and constantly evolving. a culmination of sorts of all of his previous battles.

FIRST MEETING. the first meeting of kaito and neul's? couldn't have gone more wrong. drugged, kidnaped, then given a babysitter. neul's first impression of kaito was ruled by his anger and disgust, that showed rather loudly through his eyes and curled up lip, for his hatred for pirates. he did not think of the other as a human but scum. he gave him rude words in the beginning. however, after a week, neul figured it wasn't worth it. after that, not much words were exchange, naturally. just glares from neul's part.
DEVELOPMENT.
the very first year and half, less than ideal. neul trusted no one. he talked to no one. only adding his snappy comments whenever he felt like it. bonding and other things a like, neul took no part in it. he didn't want anything to do with kaito and the others. that much was clear. the beginning half of the second year less terrible. neul fell into routine and accepted kaito's presence. no trust (yet), but acceptance.
later half of second year to neul's fourth year on the ship, things got better. neul had accepted everyone's presence, (minus the newbies that joined that 2nd year or third). but kaito especially. the two were closer than ever. brought together by neul's power to share vision. after the two viewed into each other's past briefly, they sworn secrecy to one another. and a strong trust begin blossoming through.
INTERACTIONS.
GENERAL kaito's and neul's interaction mainly consist of comfortable silence with neul's occasional humming, wordless conversations, and long-winded conversations about topics and past events that no one else knows about. kaito's eyes can be seen following neul throughout the day. when asked he normally responds with " he's beautiful" without an ounce of shame. there's a comfort and trust that have with each other that the rest of the ship doesn't have. so there's a genteler side that is shown to only kaito. as gentle as neul can be. like neul telling kaito to rest because he knows the part-kyoujin has been awake for over 72 hours now.and talking to kaito in a way less curt manner (like he does with his cousin). besides the staring, kaito buying neul flowers, making neul his favorite tea kaito blushing often, and being mesmerized by neul's golden eyes, are normal occurances on kaito's part. on neul's part, touching kaito's hair , standing far too close (responding with "because i can" when asked), and calling kaito, tokki or something equally as cute when kaito does something neul considers adorable (like the head-tilting kaito does when he's confused.).
TOUCH touch sessions in kaito's room, sitting on the bed. kaito reaching out and touching slowly. neul mirroring it after a moment. kaito's attempt at disassociating touch and pain. used to do this with captain johnny. began with neul some time in the fourth year after discussion / negotiation about no-touch zones, safewords, etc; klahan and johnny alone knows fully about. everyone else just assumes talking together.
SLEEP kaito views neul's room as a sort of safe zone and relaxes there more than any other place. sometimes, hovers outside of neul's room after a nightmare, not sure why he is there except that he is. never stays the night at neul's quarters , much to neul's dismay. it's mostly because he's afraid he'll wake the half-faery up with his nightmares. potential accidental falling asleep one day - after talking, neul napping - and neul waking up to peaceful kaito; kaito rested without nightmares. a reoccurring practice becoming natural.
