When asked about his dreams, Sky simply answered that he wanted to dance, and to hold onto the freedom dancing brought with it. The company decided to roll with it, and Sky's video became a more abstract interpretation of dreams than many of the others, focusing more on the easy enjoyment and total acceptace of whatever odd or inexplicable changes may occur within dreams. APPEARANCE Sungjae has no illusions about his appearance. While he's not ugly by any stretch he's certainly no model, with a long face and high cheeks that give him a perpetually sallow look that isn't helped by his lanky frame. His nose is a touch too big and despite being toned from dancing his muscle definition is faint at best simply due to a body type that doesn't really bulk up. He also tends to stand out in crowds due to a height of 181cm, which can't be hidden even if he ever slouched - which he doesn't. Sungjae's posture is impeccable.
STYLE Growing up poor, Sungjae never really developed his own style, wearing whatever could be afforded. These days he tends to favor sweatpants, since they can last through growth spurts, and loose t-shirts that often have English phrases he doesn't understand scrawled across them. He has a pair of second-hand trainers as well that he takes incredibly good care of as he's not sure when they'll be able to afford a new pair.

Sungjae has always believed in working hard for anything that seems worthwhile. Nothing in lie ever comes for free in his experience, and if something seems to have no strings attached it's best to be wary. He avoids handouts as much as possible, though he is willing to take some in desperate circumstances, always putting survival over his own pride. In fact, Sungjae in general is a rather humble person, knowing well that it's all too easy to lose everything if you don't keep working at it. He values this humbleness in others as well, and has a hard time socializing with those prone to pride or boastfulness. Oxymoronically, the one thing he can get rather arrogant about is other's lack of humility, gaining a sort of pride for himself in the comparison.

Sungjae isn't one to speak without thinking things through first. He's aware the power words can have, and that it can be both constructive and destructive. He values honesty, but he does his best to not be so honest as to become blunt. He's careful, calculated, and generally rather quiet because of it. He observes far more than he speaks and only offers his thoughts when asked, or when he feels quite strongly about something. For all his caution, however, he personally rarely takes things to heart, recognizing that not everyone is quite so careful with how they phrase things. He does have his triggers of course, his mother being primary among them, but if it seems no harm was inteded then no harm will be taken.

Sungjae is the sort who places a lot of emphasis on sentimental value. As such, he's a bit of a hoarder, holding onto anything with even the slightest bit of value to him, which, having grown up with very little, is just about everything. He's rather stubborn about it as well, and things often need to be secretly spirited away when he's not looking in order to keep his space at least somewhat neat. He holds experiences close to his heart as well, able to recall names and faces with surprising accuracy, particularly when they're connected to an important moment in his life. He always tries to learn from his experiences, good or bad, and his impressive associative skills seem to have deveoped from this. Or perhaps it's the other way around. Honestly Sungjae doesn't put too much thought into it one way or another.
BACKGROUND
" Do you feel like you're second hand? "
Sungjae's story begins not at his birth, but two years prior, with a young woman by the name of Lee Haneul. The youngest daughter of a family that was already far too large for their parents' meager paychecks, Haneul had decided early in her life that she needed to get married to someone as quickly as possible so she wouldn't be a burden to her parents longer than necessary. However, in her haste she ended up with a less than honest man. One who ran out on her when he discovered she was pregnant with their son. Haneul's parents were horrified, but they were willing to take on the extra burden. However, Haneul, driven by guilt, ended up getting an abortion instead of adding to her parent's financial strain even further. This decision got her disowned by her disgusted parents. With no education and nowhere to go, Haneul found herself desperate and with nothing left to lose. She eventually found herself working and living in the thriving Cheonyangni red light district, where she soon found herself pregnant once again.

This time Haneul went through with the pregnancy, and Sungjae entered the world on a sweaty summer's day in June 2000. The nineteen year old Haneul did her best to support the newborn, but it was a rough existence for both of them. Haneul did have some help with little Sungjae, but her coworkers could only do so much, and Haneul vowed not to have any more children. So Sungjae grew and Haneul did her best. The two were extremely close, and Sungjae became very protective of his mother when children at school dared to mock their living condition. He saw first hand how she was working herself to the bone for what little they had, and his respect for her and all other women became heavily ingrained in him from an early age because of it. That said, growing up with as little as they had was difficult, and Sungjae became restless as he aged, eventually taking to roaming the streets once school let out just for the sake of feeling free. It was on one of these city prowls that he came across a dance crew practicing in a park. He was 12 years old.

Sungjae found himself returning to the dance crew's practice park several times over the next month, and they took notice of the dirty little kid that was suddenly hanging around all the time. One of the only females on the team asked if he'd like to try his hand at dancing with them, and he shyly agreed that he'd like to at least try. Sungjae ended up proving a natural and he officially joined the dance crew shortly after his 14th birthday, when the group decided he was good enough to compete with them. He went to competitions when he coud, having picked up a part time job afterschool to help support his mother which often conflicted with practice. However he perservered, as he absolutely loved dancing. It was a freeing experience, and the one part of his life that didn't feel draining. At one of the dance competition in late 2016, Sungjae found himself approached by a scout from BBC, who had been impressed by his moves and offered him a chance to audition. With support from both his mother and his new girlfriend, he agreed to try.
TRIVIA
Education — Sungjae started his first semester at SeoulArts as a Dance Major, with a minor in education, in September 2017. If being an idol doesn't work out he wants to teach dance and eventually open a dance academy for underprivledged youth (the academy was Hana's idea)
Dance Style — Being in many ways self-taught, Sungjae doesn't have much of a set style of dance, though naturally he tends more towards hip-hop and modern since they require much less exactness when compared to more classical styles of dance. He also has a healthy dose of Kpop in his style since the ony formal dance training he ever got was at BBC
Dance Covers — Since starting at BBC, Sungjae has been learning all the popular KPop dances so that he can use them as a special talent of sorts on shows. His focus is very much in male dances though - while he can do some point dances from girl groups he prefers not to.
Fans — To be honest, as much as he appreciates the fact they allow the group to suceed, Sungjae does find that the fans can go too far sometimes. He tries to show them respect, but when they make him uncomfortable it's usually pretty obvious. His biggest peeve is "shippers" - he doesn't care who anyone falls in love with, but he has a girlfriend and he's not cheating on her with one of his bandmates thank you very much. And really, that's his personal business regardless.
Training — Although never the closest with the other trainees, Sungjae has been with BBC almost from the start so he's definitely a known face in the building. He sometimes will help out newer trainees with their dancing if they're struggling, and even offers pointers to the older ones if they ask. But as he mostly kept to himself otherwise he doesn't have any "best friend" within the company
Ideal Type — If he and Hana ever go public he'd naturally refer to her as his ideal. While they're an unknown quantity however he'll just describe her anyway. Words usually used are passionate, hard-working, determined, and confident. He never describes any physical features, even when prompted, stating that if a girl has a good personality she'll naturally look beautiful.

Sungjae is about as close to his mother as one can get to a parent without crossing any lines. He feels quite protective of her and she's one of the few topics that can get him riled up enough to get into an actual argument. She's very supportive of his bid to become an idol, and he in turn is supportive of the fact she still works as an , though as with all the Pal Pal district workers she's moved her business online, leaving their old home to be demolished.

TRAINEE LIFE When Sungjae passed the intense audition process to get into BBC he wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, he found he fit in well in the trainee environment, already being used to a very full schedule thanks to his dancing and part time job (which he had to quit once training began). His dancing was refined, but the major focus went into his vocal ability. His singing technique was nonexistent, and to the present remains rather nasally despite his coaches' best efforts, and he's got a decent rapping voice as well after years of practice. He got along well enough with the other trainees, though because he spent any free time he had with his mother or Hana he never made any particularly close friends.

HEADLINES
SOLAIRE'S SKY RUDE AT FANMEETING — During a fansign, sometime after debut, someone gave Sky a copy of an explicit fanfiction featuring himself and one of the other members. It naturally made him extremely uncomfortable and it showed on his face. Due to his not wanting to embarrass the fan - who's face is clearly seen in nearly all videos of the event - he kept the reason quiet, but that subsequently made him look bad and gets him into some hot water with the netizens for being rude and ungrateful.
SOLAIRE'S NEWEST MEMBER HAS A GIRLFRIEND? — Hana and Sungjae aren't exactly an unknown couple amongst their old classmates - they have been dating for nearly four years after all - and naturally one of them starts talking when Sungjae is revealed as the next boy of the month. (It's up to you whether you want BBC to confirm or not since HanJae is definitely still going strong)
SOLAIRE'S SKY INSULTS BTS? — Sky, being as quiet as he is, doesn't show much reaction to other groups, or really know all that much about them aside from those he meets personally. This ends up getting him into hot water when Solaire is shown at an awards ceremony during BTS's performance - and Sky looks a bit bored. The fans get a bit up in arms about the perceived insult, and Sky apologizes, though privately he still thinks the song was really only mediocre.
SOLAIRE'S SKY GREW UP IN CHEONYANGNI — Naturally it's only a matter of time before his childhood and single mother are uncovered by fans who can't leave well enough alone, and of course it's a pretty big scandal that he's a literal son of a . Sky defends him mother rather vehemently, channeling a bit of Hana when he points out the limited options for single mothers in South Korea, and how else coud she support a young son? He does end up having to take a short break from the group while the public settles down.
In general when Sky is in the headlines it's either because his reserved nature is being misinterpreted or something has come up with Hana again. He has his staunch supporters but he's certainly one of the more "problematic" of the boys.

If there's one word that best describes Hana, it would be driven. If there were another, it would be loud. The combination of the two results in a rather unforgettable young lady who makes a point of making herself heard no matter how deaf the people around her wish to be. She's a miniature force of nature, fueled by passion and a whole lot of caffeine, and her causes are seemingly infinite. Hana is always ready to jump onto a new cause, be it animal welfare or ecofeminism, nothing is too obscure or separate from herself. She's a passionate woman, very much controlled by her impulses, though not so much that she's ever overwhelmed. Hana is surprisingly organized for one with as hectic a schedule as hers.

Naturally, she needs to be in control if she actually hopes to accomplish anything, which she absolutely does. Hana is an optimist through and through, and a strong advocate of fighting against any injustice you see in the world. She can't abide those who complain about the state of things and then proceed to watch as said things continue to occur. "If you aren't dead then get moving" as her grandmother always said. Hana lives by this philosphy, and she's more than willing to get her feet wet and kneel down in the muck to try and reach for the dreams of a better tomorrow that linger at the forefront of her ever active mind. She may not be the smartest, but she'll make damn sure she's the most active in any situation she may find herself in.

Hana, in essence, is truly a force of nature. She's not easy to forget, and she's quite proud of that fact. Really it all comes down to her optimism and naturally empathetic nature. She simply can't allow sleeping dogs to lie if the dogs really ought to be up and running around freely. She can't abide anything she perceives as wrongdoing, and she won't rest until the world is a better place for the next generation. Who better well appreciate it - she's working her off over here!
LOVE STORY
" Some legends are told "
There are a lot of tales about how exactly Hana and Sungjae came to begin dating, and almost none of them are correct, though all have some element of truth. The known facts of the matter are that despite being classmates the two met outside of school, and they began dating two weeks after than initial meeting. Both were fifteen years old and no one expected the odd pair to work out. Hana was too loud where Sungjae was reserved, and Sungjae was poor where Hana was from a well-off middle class family. However the two have managed to maintain a healthy relationship for nearly four years with only typical bumps in the road, able to find compromise and support with each other even if everyone else is against them.
" You're about to bloom "
The details of their relationship, known only to them, are that they met when Hana snuck out of the house to attend an LGBT rally that happened to be occuring near where Sungjae and his group were rehearsing for an upcoming dance battle. The two happened to cross paths as they headed home, and Hana volunteered Sungjae to be her bodyguard as it was well past midnight and "a lady wouldn't want to run into people of ill repute in the dark without some backup." Hana chatted the enire way back to her home, and upon arriving she gave Sungjae a kiss on the cheek in thanks before clambering up a tree to her open bedroom window. The next day she showed up at the dance practice and watched as if she'd always been there. Once again she insisted Sungjae walk her home, and this time she managed to get him to talk some as well. This went on every day for two weeks, when Hana boldly annonced that she'd quite like to consider him her boyfriend if he'd be interested. And he was. Sungjae finds Hana's passion absolutely stunning, and she adores his contemplative nature. They play off of one another, encouraging their strengths and balancing out flaws in a rythm that's become natural in the past four years.
" Just one mistake is all it will take "
When Sungjae began training at BBC the two knew that his having a girlfriend could seriously affect his chances at debut. Hana was more than open to putting them on "pause" but Sungjae insisted that it was ridiculous. They already had plans - once they graduated from university and Hana managed to secure a job at the Korean Parliment they would get married and begin serving as a foster home for particularly troubled youth. Being an idol threw that for a bit of a loop, so they've decided to play by ear for now and decide later how to proceed based on the situations they find themselves in.
INTERACTIONS

People often assume that Hana is overpowering within the relationship, as most people have trouble comprehending that strong independent women are perfectly capable of listening to a man if needed. In reality, the two are actually quite equal when it comes to decisions, and both make a point of talking to the other whenever new information comes up. One of their first ground rules for the relationship was that nothing should be kept secret between them, and it's a rule neither has broken. Both are happy to engage in open discussion whenever they have dissagreements, and both care about the other more than they do about being right so compromises are never difficult to reach. Sungjae feels comfortable around Hana, and he quite likes that she doesn't expect him to hold up his end of the conversation all the time, while she appreciates that he actually listens to her rants about her latest cause and can talk to her about them later on. They have an easy trust that is unbreakable by outside forces, and neither can truly imagine life separated at this point.
STATUS — Dating (Since May 2015)
ENDING — Up to you! I do think these two would stick things out no matter what, but pressure from the company could result in their taking a "break" of sorts until the fuss dies down. If you wanted to go extreme, Sungjae would likely leave the group for her if it was the only option available to him.

SCENE REQUESTS If he's chosen I wouldn't mind a couple scenes featuring Hana being herself and possibly making some of the other members uncomfortable with her brashness, but in general I think it could be interesting to see interactions with some of those more... intense fans shall we say? I touch on it a bit in the app but I've always wondered how idols really feel about those fans who get entirely too invested and possesive of their personal lives - I know I would be uncomfortable!
