PERSONALITY 

Jaejin is an endless fountain of questions about everything around him. He's always ready and eager to learn something new, even if admittedly he's going to lose interest the second the next new things catches his eye. Keeping Jaejin focused on anything other than music for extended periods of time simply isn't something that is done. He's flighty and inconsistent and even in conversations he spews nonsequitrs like a dolphin spews water. He's high-energy, go-go-go and it can be difficult for even the most agile of thinkers to keep up with the absolute whirlwind that's perpetually dominating his mind. All this can lead people to think that Jaejin is rather unintelligent, but while he's certainly no genius Jaejin actually does recall quite a bit of his ten-second interests, able to pull out random facts about pretty much any topic thanks to his endless questioning. He honestly likes learning and asks questions in order to better understand the world around him. And that won't exactly work if he can't remember anything he's learned after all.

Jaejin wants to know everything there is to know about the world. Sure it's a lofty goal, but it's one he fully believes in and will stand by resolutely. He's a hardcore optimist when it comes to literally everything, and the impossibility of certain tasks flies right over his head. There's no shame to trying everything once. Or twice. Or several hundred times. Failure is just a temporary setback after all, at least according to Jaejin. Nothing in life is truly out of reach if you want it badly enough is pretty much his life motto, and he sticks firmly with it. He's incredibly skilled in always finding an upside to just about any situation, to the point where he straight-up ignores the negatives. This tendency has gotten him into trouble plenty of times in the past, but he's resolute that positivity is always the anwer, even when everyone around him disagrees.

In general Jaejin isn't very socially aware, despite being extremely social a person. Jaejin loves people, and he's certainly on the far end of the extroversion scale. He's always happy to be the one to initiate a conversation, and he can generally keep it going with his army of random facts for hours if the other person allows it. He tends to steamroll conversations though, turning the casual back-and-forth of chatter into a monologue that's occasionlly punctuated by the other person either offering their thoughts or responding appropriately during one of his rare breaks to breath. His bright, enthusiastic personality tends to be rather overwhelming for people, particularly if they themselves don't have the same energy that he does. Unfortunately Jaejin usually fails to notice when he's making people uncomfortable, due to being far more academically intelligent than socially adept, despite firmly thinking he can do both.

 

From the very begining Jaejin was a curious child, always wandering off from his increasingly frazzled parents and older sister to explore the world around him. He likes to joke about how often he nearly got himself run over or otherwise injured, but he really did terrify his parents on a regular basis. He was very active as a child, but even then he never held an interest for very long. His parents' only respite was the fact he managed to do decently well in school despite his attention span (or lack thereof). In fact, Jaejin adored school. A whole place dedicated to learning! He'd often stay late in the library grabbing random books to skim through and expanding his knowledge base.

That was life for Jaejin for quite a chunk of his current length of existence. It wasn't until he was thirteen that he really discovered music and finally found the one thing in the world that could hold his focus. Of course, his parents didn't fully believe him when he begged for guitar lessons, worried they'd be spending money on something he'd just lose interest in within a few weeks. However, two months later he was still doggedly requesting the lessons every day, three times a day. His epiphany had been triggered on his walk home from school when he'd crossed paths with a busker, and he'd been absolutely entranced by the easygoing performer. From that day he'd decided he wanted to play music, to make people feel things with a simple collection of sound. And finally his parents gave in to his pestering and got him guitar lessons.

Jaejin took to music like a fish to water. Not insomuch that he was naturally talented - he actually had to work quite hard to gain any improvement - but in his intense passion and dedication for the craft. He began singing along as soon as he could, teaching himself using online tutorials and his guitar. When he turned sixteen he started busking in Hongdae whenever he had an afternoon off, and when he graduated from highschool a year later he decided to keep busking professionally for a while before going to university, as he wasn't sure what he wanted to major in just yet. In the end he didn't need to figure it out when he was scouted by a BBC representative and subsequently passed the audition into BBC with an acoustic cover of "Gee" that he still plays to this day. It's his signature guys, he can't just stop!

 

Tactile Jaejin is a very touchy-feely person and has no real sense of personal space. He's the type to give hugs out during hand-touch events and to climb on people if he can't see something (though he at least usually knows the person he's climbing on - he does know enough to not start clambering over complete strangers except in emergencies)

Girl Group Dances While Jaejin won't automatically volunteer to do them he usually ends up pushed to the front anyway since he's small and cute, so he knows quite a few by virtue of always getting stuck doing them. And he does have fun, so no harm no foul
