appearance.

— If one was being kind they might say that Gayoung is a cool beauty. If one had actually met Gayoung they might be more likely to say she has a strong case of resting face that she's happy to wield with pride. Gayoung knows she looks unapproachable most of the time and she honestly quite enjoys the power that comes with it. She even uses makeup to emphasize her most intimidating features, favoring a smoky look for her eyes and bright red for her lips. Her hair is usually left lat and straight, as it is naturally, as she's found that style lends itself best to the look she's going for. The fact she stands at 170cm certainly helps as well, though she'll usually say she's a bit taller to make her 55kg look less heavy (though again she'll often lie about her weight being lower).

fashion style.

— Gayoung actually wears pretty normal clothes despite all the effort she puts into her makeup. Simple, generally somewhat loose shirts and boot-legged jeans make up the majority of her wardrobe, and what doesn't fall into those categories is most likely workout clothes, consisting of tight black leggings and loose tank tops which generally sport a logo of some sort. She does own one pair of running shoes for workout purposes, but other than that her feet are clad in three inch heels at all times. She likes that they give her even more room to tower over people, and she's also genuinely comfortable in them after spending so much time learning how to dance in them. For accesories she usually has a choker of some sort on, and will wear shades whenever she's outside, but otherwise her clothing is all she's got on.

persoNaliity.
Self-Aware, Confident, Hardworking, Dependent, Stubborn, Simplistic

" You got your high brow "
Gayoung is, intentionally, rather unapproachable. Her aura is one of complete confidence in herself and her own importance to any given situation that she ends up in. Whether or not she was intended to be a part of something, if she's in the vicinity she's part of it now. At 22 years old Gayoung has had, and made good use of, a decent amount of time alive and she's gotten to understand her own strengths and weaknesses rather well. As such she's able to almost seamlessly slide herself into any crack that fits with what she knows she's good at, and she's somewhat decent at getting away from situations where her weaknesses would shine too brightly, though admittedly she isn't as good at it as she'd like to think. That said, her self-awareness can all too often manifest itself in stubboness, and when faced with something she's certain she can't do Gayoung simply won't attempt it at all, opting to sit out or make herself scarce until such a time when she can begin showing off her talents again. She's so certain of her own ability to read herself that any critiques or suggestions from others generally roll right off of her, particularly when they pertain to her prior-known weaknesses or come from someone younger.

" You need everyone's eyes just to feel seen "
Gayoung isn't afraid to make herself known. In fact, she makes it something of a point to be seen in whatever setting she's found herself in. Gayoung thrives on the limelight, truly believing that fame and having her face known across the internet is the only way of truly succeeding in life. Being ignored, especially if she's trying to showcase her skills, is her greatest fear, and she'll often become even sharper with her words and actions as a direct result of feeling that she's not getting adequate attention from the people around her when comparted to the amount of effort she's putting in to get their attention. And Gayoung is certain that she deserves the attention she's coveting, so she doesn't really feel that bad about trying to always steal it. If there's one thing Gayoung has, it's complete and utter confidence. Even when she does something stupid she'll be entirely unflustered and will easily laugh it off with everyone else. Any attention is good attention for Gayoung, so catching her blindsided or making her uncomfortable is a feat practically unheard of. Of course, she isn't the best at being very sympathetic to those who do have a sense of shame, so it's not uncommon for Gayoung to unintentionally make people feel embarrassed or just plain awful when she's reaching for the spotlight.

" You got your head in the clouds "
Despite her brash exterior, sharp tongue, and general "bad girl" persona, Gayoung is actually something of a dreamer. She honestly believes that if you work hard enough and long enough for something it has to come true. As such she's more than willing to put 110% into anything she thinks will help further her dreams of stardom, no matter how boring or unimportant they may seem. This simple outlook extends to the rest of her life as well, directly resulting in her ability to write people off or embarrass them with no shame - if they really want it, they'll just work hard and things will turn out well in the end. She believes that good things come to those who work for them, and she doesn't see any problem with just being herself in the meantime. Sarcasm is fun, and some people just can't take a joke.

" You think you're cooler than me "

background.

" It's your scene "
Gayoung grew up in the city of Chuncheon, two hours outside of Seoul. Or more specifically, she grew up in the surrounding suburbs, and lived a typical suburban lifestyle, complete with the white picket fence. Gayoung did well enough in school, but she found the suburbs to be boring, and often took the train with her friends and their older siblings into the city to shop around and generally loiter. It was in the city that she discovered KPop, when she heard a Big Bang song playing in one of the stores and immediately fell in love with it. Upon doing some more research she discovered to her delight that idols were a huge deal in Seoul, and her eleven year old heart latched onto the idea that she could be one someday. Her parents, ever supportive, agreed to get her vocal lessons, though they coudn't afford to get her dance ones as well so she settled for learning KPop dances in her room. However, her vocal coach noticed that her alto voice was better suited to rock and roll, a genre she already enjoyed, so he encouraged her to focus her singing more on that. Not really understanding that there was a difference, Gayoung was happy to oblidge.

" Switchin' your walk "
It was when she was sixteen years old that Gayoung got the opportunity to audition for an idol entertainment. Specifically, for SM. She was on an overnight trip to the city with her class, and she spotted an open audition sign while they were there. Her and her two best friends snuck away from the group and Gayoung bounded onto the stage, belting out her best rendition of CNBlue's "I'm A Loner" which had been released earlier the same year. The SM judges informed her that her voice type simply wasn't needed in their company, and utterly heartbroken Gayoung returned to very angry teachers, and ultimately very angry parents. Their anger ended up redirected through her, and she got absolutely pissed at her vocal teacher for not teaching her how to sing like an idol. As a peace offering they started working more on her head voice so her range expanded, but her rock habits were already too far ingrained in her execution that she could never fully shake them. However, two years later, when she moved to Seoul upon graduation to start pursuing her dream more aggressively, it proved to be just enough to get her into a relatively new company: Rainbow Bridge World.

" Who do you think that you are? "
Training under a real label was an absolute dream come true for Gayoung, who threw her everything into training. She didn't exactly make friends with the other trainees, always a little to brash and a little too dismissive of those not as skilled as she was, but her effort did put her in the final lineup considerations for Mamamoo in 2014. Ultimately her trouble keeping her tongue in check got her booted, and she watched, heartbroken yet again, as her dreams slipped just past her grasp. She stayed with RBW though, renewing her contract through the end of 2016 and hoping if she showed them how dedicated she was that she'd be granted a solo debut. She did get to play a role in Vromance's MV in 2016, but when her contract ended the company informed her they had no plans for another girl group in the future, and she was getting a little old to debut. To support herself, Gayoung got a job as a barista at a small café and took to auditioning wherever she could for whatever companies she could. She had some interest, and was even scouted by YG at one point after a performance on talent night at the café, but nothing ever panned out. When, two years later, the exhausted but still stubbornly determined Gayoung heard about I'm A Star she leapt at the opportunity. Surely after all her hard work and dedication, this will be it?

fun facts.

— She was Shopping Cart Lady in VROMANCE's "She" MV
— Although Big Bang was the first band to catch her eye, and she still likes most of their content, Gayoung's favorite groups are actually CNBlue and Sistar
— She's a cat person and will go on full defensive if someone says about them
— She does technically speak some English but she doesn't count it as a language she knows since most of her vocabulary is swear words
— She homoromantic aual but doesn't know. She thinks all friendships are as close as hers are, and that she just hasn't had time for guys yet

rElAtionships.

— Mother | Kim Haseul (54) | Home Maker

Gayoung and her mother have always had a good relationship, and Haseul has always whole-heartedly supported her daughter's dreams. That said, she does wish Gayoung would get a "real" job soon and is less enthusiastic about I'm A Star than Gayoung was expecting. Haseul just hopes her daughter's heart won't be broken by the industry again.

— Father | Han Youngbae (54) | ??? Something with money, Gayoung honestly isn't sure

Youngbae wasn't at home very often due to his job, but he's equally supportive as his wife when it comes to Gayoung's dreams. Moreso even, being the one to happily slip his daughter financial assitance whenever she discovers new opportunities, and he's even continued paying for voice lessons so she doesn't get out of practice, not that his wife knows. The only thing they can agree on is that they want their daughter to be happy.

— Best Friend | Lee Miseul (22) | Secretary

Miseul and Gayoung have been attached at the hip since grade school, and the two hour distance between them while Miseul was in univeristy didn't do anything to dent their bond. Their relationship is built on snark and a deep-seated trust that can cause great confusion for people when the two get mixed and sarcastic comforting occurs. Miseul isn't afraid to give Gayoung a kick in the pants if she thinks her friend needs it, and Gayoung is happy to return the favor when she can, though Miseul has more ego than the oceans have water, so it's not often she needs it. (FC; Stellar Jeonyul)

— Best Friend | Kim Johyun (22) | Starving Uni Student

Johyun joined the duo of Miseul and Gayoung in high school, when the soft-spoken new girl burst out laughing after Miseul proudly sassed one of their teachers, landing them both in detention. Though she's nowhere near as savage as her friends, she enjoys their banter and can more than take anything tossed her way with grace, if not a comeback which she's always late to think up. She's studying to be an environmental engineer and doesn't get to see her friends much around studying and generally dying of stress and deadlines, but they still try. (FC; Berry Good Johyun)

— Co-Worker | No Seyoung (19) | Part-time Barista

Seyoung is Gayoung's favorite person to work with at the café, as she's a dance major at SNU and the two enjoy discussing the idol world, something they're both interested in. Seyoung has even given Gayoung some dance pointers when the café wasn't too busy, and Gayoung has attempted to return the favor by offering her thoughts on Seyoung's dances, though she doesn't really know enough to give any solid feedback. (FC; Momoland Jane)

"hello, welcome to "i'm a star," please introduce yourself!"

— Hey! I'm Han Gayoung but you can call me Elsa. I look forward to showing you what I've got!

"what would you say is your strongest talent? singing, dancing, or rapping?"

— Singing for sure. But you'll see that for yourself soon. *Winks*

"why did you decide to join this show?"

— Because I am a star! I've hit some roadbumps but I know I've got what it takes, and I won't give up!

"thank you for your time! please say goodbye to the viewers at home!"

— Get ready to be mindblown kids, I'm not your average idol!

trainee life.

— Gayoung's only claim to the idol life was her four year stint at Rainbow Bridge World, which was a rough ride from start to finish. At eighteen she was a lot older than several of the other new trainees that she was working with, though thanks to her prior vocal experience she only had to deal with young teenagers in her dance classes. She put her all into training, pulling late nights on the regular and doing her absolute best to stand out during every trainee evaluation. It paid off when she began working with the ladies of Mamamoo as they prepared for a tentative debut. However, Gayoung's intensity and sharp sarcasm clashed with the equally hardworking but generally more relaxed and goofy Mamamoo women and she was ultimately pulled out to avoid the conflict hurting the group's chances at success. Gayoung did try for a debut for two more years before she was let go, supposedly due to her age, which at 22 was getting rather high, but also because of her poor teamwork skills.

strengths.

— Gayoung is a rock vocalist through and through, though she can handle idol songs decently enough despite her vocal color clashing with cuter sounds due to intense training. She's also a rather solid idol dancer due to that same training, though without a choreography and a minimum of 72 solid hours of practice she's really nothing impressive.

weaknesses.

— Aside from not wanting to touch rapping with a fifty foot pole, Gayoung is terrible at "cute", which is rather unfortunately considering the current mainstream interest in it. Anything she attempts comes out cringe-worthy as she's almost literally incapable of putting in honest effort when it comes to anything that could be associated with the color pink or some form of bubble pop. She's also not the best at taking orders from others, especially when they're younger than her and perceived to be less experienced. She tends to take control of groups she's in during the show with little regard for whoever is actually supposed to be in charge (assuming it's not a mentor, who she'll begrudgingly listen to if they're younger and will give full respect if they're older).

comments. Well I do hope she's alright! I'm happy to fix up anything you notice!
