APPEARANCE.
The best term for Hayoung would probaby be delicate. Years of classic
ballet lessons and endless fad diets have left her slim and paler than
perhaps is healthy, though her mixed heritage contributes to people not
really noticing anything off. She does have toning from dance, but if it
wasn't forsome surgery to raise her cheeks and narrow her nose she'd
likely look quite sallow around the face thanks to often being
malnourished, something reflected in her meager 46kg for 164cm. As it is
her ribs are easy to pick out from under her skin and she covers
the ever-darkening bags under her eyes with ever heavier makeup. She does
her best to make herself look natural, but nothing can completely
conceal how exhausted she always is.
FASHION STYLE.
Pastels and ribbons abound in Hayoung's closet. She likes clothes that
flow, trending towards skirts and dresses far more than pants. Her tops
are often tighter than her bottoms, cinching around the waist to
emphasize her petite figure and keeping close to the rest of her form as
well. Honestly most of her style comes from simply being accustomed to
ballet outfits, so most of what she wears could usually be danced in. In
terms of shoes she prefers sandals with low heels but she does have a pair
of converse that she uses if she has to.

ALL YOUR GOOD AND BAD SIDES.
PERSONALITY TRAITS. Here
PERSONALITY.
" You want the greatest thing "
If one thing can be said for Hayoung, it's that she goes all in on whatever she sets her sights on. Her dedication to her craft is constant and intense, leading to long nights and constant attempts at perfection. Hayoung won't settle for anything less - if something's worth doing it's worth doing right. So regardless of how much she actually cares about what she's doing, Hayoung will do her best to make sure it's done well. Procrastination and slacking are bad habits in her mind, and ones all too easily succumbed to if given the chance to take hold. And so she never gives them that chance, staying well ahead of schedule and keeping herself constantly occupied with whatever needs to be accomplished. Idleness is, after all, the begining of all vices, and Hayoung refuses to allow anything of the sort near herself or her public image.
" Trying to look like you don't try "
Of course, hayoung would never let on that she's busy because she's actively trying to be. Ballet is all about looking effortless while actually exhausting oneself, and this has bled into every other aspect of Hayoung's life. It's all about the external image she's projecting, more than the reality brewing just under the shallow mask she presents. Hayoung is all delicate smiles, agreeableness, and general politeness that gives her an aura of sweet innocence. It's very difficult to get Hayoung to engage in in-depth conversations mostly because she honestly isn't sure how to approach them. Unless she's very intimately involved with a topic she won't engage in conversations, instead hovering at the edges, trying to give the impression of being involved without truly being so.
" That's what you could "
In general Hayoung isn't particularly good at human interactions beyond the shallow. She needs other people to direct her and note what's worth caring about and what isn't. She has little real agency of her own, having spent her life following orders and relying on external praise and direction. She reflects the world around her, liking what society expects her to like and acting in response to those around her. SHe doesn't seem to have much of her own personality or interests, instead conducting herself as she thinks best suits whichever situations she's put into. Some consider her rather calculating because of this and while it certainly indicates a level of social awareness Hayoung honestly wouldn't know where to begin not acting in such a way. Her identity is so tightly ingrained in pubic acceptance and appearance that she's unable to separate the two in her mind, or in her actions.
" Imitation of life "
BACKGROUND.
" I don't want to hear you cry "
Unsurprisingly Hayoung grew up in a highly controlling family. Her mother was a failed actress who wanted her daughter to succeed where she had not. And so from a young age Hayoung was enrolled in ballet lessons and competed in child beauty paegants. For eight year she underwent strict schedules, moving from school to lessons and back again with little time between. Her mother was always micromanaging every aspect of Hayoung's life, which resulted in her losing control of her own life. Hayoung's father walked out on the family when she was eight years old, and her mother ended up moving the two of them back to her homeland of South korea to live with Hayoung's grandparents. The move was jarring for Hayoung, but being so young she adapted quickly and was soon back to the familiar schedule - school, lessons, school, lessons, on and on and on.
" Like a friday fashion show "
ALthough the paegant scene wasn't as prominent in Korea has it had been in Los Angeles, Hayong's mother discovered another way to get her daughter famous and admired: the idol world. While Hayoung continued improving her ballet, her mother set out to discover ways to get her daughter into an idol company. At twelve years old Hayoung had her first audition for SM Entertainment, where she underwent several auditions before ultimately being turned down. At fourteen she auditioned for JYP Enertainment, her sixten audition since starting at SM, and this time she found herself with an acceptance. And so she began training at JYP Entertainment in April of 2014.

SHOW ME EVERYTHING.
RELATIONSHIPS.
Mother | Kim Younghwa (46) | Theatre teacher at SOPA
Younghwa has always been the ring master of Hayoung's life. She desperately wants her daughter to be everything Younghwa wasn't, and Hayoung meekly obeys her mother's every whim. Hayoung honestly doesn't see the problem with being a smaller carbon copy of her mother, and Younghwa doesn't see anything wrong with living vicariously through her child, so they get along relativey well even if the relationship is quite one-sided power-wise.

TRAINEE LIFE.
Training honesty wasn't very different from what Hayoung had already
been experiencing with her own mother. She did struggle in vocal lessons,
and her classical dance style often caused her to struggle with the
looser and less precise KPop dancing she was now expected to do, but
her mother expected her to do well and so she trained hard and
without complaint. She did naturally improve with time and she was liked
rather well by trainers and trainees alike as she never caused any
problems and did her best to be helpul. When it came time to film SIXTEEN
she was a no brainer to include Hayoung in the lineup, and she got quite
far in the show before being cut in the final round due to her
needing to improve her stage presence. Taking the advice to heart,
Hayoung worked to imrpove just that and when she was sent to Produce
101 she'd figured out exactly what the right combination was to get
herself liked by the people around her. This led to her securing the top
spot of Produce 101 and she proceeded to promote with IOI for a year
with the other ten winners of the show. She was genuinely sad when the
group disbanded despite not being best friends with any of them, but she
was happy to be added to the JYP project group upon her return to
the company. Now she hopes to finally get a permanent debut with Play
girls and finally achieve what she's been trained for her entire life.
