BACKGROUND jeong yahyeon was born into a middle-classed family in seoul, south korea. she had a pretty much normal childhood as she attended school properly and got average grades with a few close friends, there weren't many outstanding events in her early life.
ever since she was young, yahyeon has had an interest in music and wanted to become an idol. although her voice isn't god-like, it sounds nice on its own way and everyone encouraged yahyeon to pursue her career in singing though others began to say that besides a pretty face, yahyeon couldn't do anything and that everyone can sing like her.
in secondary school, she was scolded by her family when she told them that she wanted to be a part of the industry. however, they were convinced that yahyeon would be able to live better if she could do what she had always wanted to do so they let her follow her dream. at first, she was only interested in being an idol but as she got atteched to the industry, yahyeon learned that she could be something more than an idol. on her sixteenth birthday, she got a laptop from her parents and the girl began to learn about producing and making music though it took her roughly a year and a half to be completely good at this field.
yahyeon didn't have a good technique in singing so when she first auditioned, cube entertainment rejected her. when she applied to sm at age seventeen, they accepted her because of her face but after two years of training, she auditioned for another company as she believed that sm wasn't her style since they didn't let her make her own music and mostly rejected the songs she wrote.
then, bighit happened. it wasn't famous as other agencies but she was hopeless so with every last hope she had, yahyeon auditioned for bighit. a week later, she received the news of her acceptance and told her family about it. the little girl started her life as a trainee from that day and bighit was rather happy to discover a talent.

THE BEGINNING in 2012, jeong yahyeon auditioned at bighit entertainment after training at sm entertainment for two years. she sang secret garden ost—you're my spring and was accepted for her fresh and sweet voice. yahyeon was still a high school student at this point and coping up with both school and training was hard but still, she chose to not abandon her studying and so, her years as a trainee of bighit entertainment begin.
NO SWEAT, NO VICTORY although having a beautiful voice that is loved by many trainers, yahyeon was considered as a trainee with little potential since her singing technique didn't stand out much. she couldn't rap and wasn't a good dancer as well so she really was having a hard time catching up with other female trainees. however, yahyeon isn't the type to give up easily so biting her tongue to stop herself from and screaming because she was just so tired, she wanted to give up... and she stopped herself from wanting to give up.
yahyeon trained harder than ever. sure, she didn't stand out that and wasn't the top of her class but people acknowledged her efforts and they saw how much she had improved as days continued to pass by. both dancing and singing. her voice was getting more stable and she was able to hold high notes, the coaches were very happy with the result yahyeon gave them. she definitely spent a lot of nights in front of the mirror, alone in the room but she managed to show a new side of hers through the evaluations.

yahyeon met jaewon at mino's birthday party and mino introduced jaewon as "the shy and forever single teddy bear" in hope that his best friend would date jaewon. well, yahyeon only laughed at that why jaewon's face turned bright red as he obviously didn't want mino to do that! though it was a joke, they had a proper conversation in which jaewon found out that yahyeon is also a producer like mino. knowing that jaewon is also a songwriter, mino suggested that the three of them should make a song together some time and why not? anyways, they had a lot of fun at the party and exchanged number afterwards.
