Origin story

It begins like any other stories, Kat was born seven minutes after her twin sister Ana to parents Alexandra and Vadim Kondakova. That is pretty much the only normal thing in her life. Her parents were members of Союз/The Union, a secret society that was specialized in espionage and terrorism, based in Moscow, Russia. Kat's parents were important members of the society and Kat's mother was 'chosen' by Dmitri Alexandrevitch for an experiment. It consisted in injecting serums into her mother's body so that it would transfer to the foetus and give them powers. So when they were born Kat and Ana had Telekinetic (for Kat) and Telepathic (For Ana) abilities. They were raised to be the secret weapon of Союз, as well as being trained as spies and assassins. But as they grew up Dmitri Alexandrevitch deemed them not powerful enough so he decided to merge them, which would inevitably result in one of them dying. Of course Kat and Ana protested and rebelled against it but even their parents were in favor of the merge, so they didn't have much of a choice in the need, they were not fully in control of their powers to really fight against an entire organisation. It happened when they were eleven, they were put into metallic coffin-shaped tubes, that were linked to each other and to a electric machine. Kat doesn't know how the whole process worked but she still remembers the pain of the merge, she felt like she was being electrocuted and burned alive at the same time. Kat absorbed Ana's powers, which led to Ana's death, because as Alexandrevitch said she was the 'strongest' of the two. Little did everyone knew she also absorbed her sister's spirit, which means that they both Kat's and Ana's spirits are living in Kat's body. Kat's feels extremely guilty for Ana's death even if Ana always says to her that she is happy to share a body with her. Kat promised her to a find a way to put her spirit back into her body.
 

From that point, Kat made it her mission to stop the experiments, that continued after their birth, on other unborn babies and to rescue the children that were still trained by Союз. She waited until she had full control over her powers to attack the facility where she trained. She attacked during the night. First she helped the children escaped and when the sirens started and guards arrived, she puts them into illusions and made them kill each others. To this day she still doesn't feel regret for such a cruel act, after everything they've done to her, her sisters and the other children, that was the least they deserved. Unfortunately, Alexandrevitch wasn"t there at the time so she couldn't kill him. She then went to the US to be as far away from Russia as she could. She was seventeen when she arrived in New York. Having no money she started to work at a coffee shop. Everything went well until one day. It was a stressful day and in the afternoon , when the coffee shop was packed, a customer came in very agitated, he ordered his coffee and while he was waiting for Kat to prepare his coffee he got impatient and hit his fist againt the counter and yelling at Kat. And she just lost it. Her powers 'activated' on their own and hit every persons in the room. Some were put into illusions, others were mentally tortured and objects were flying everywhere around them. Fortunately she was able to calm herself before killing someone but she had to erase what happened from their memories. That day she resigned not wanting something like that to happen again.

When she was recruited for the Project, she immediately accepted because she wanted to be able to protect innocent people and most importantly she wanted to prevent what happened to her sister and herself to happen to other people.

Anastasiya Kondakova | Twin Sister
Kat and Ana are extremely close. Being twins they had a special bond, they always said that they were each others half, and now Ana tells Kat that they are complete. They can communicate via their minds, so sometimes Kat will just stand there not moving for a few minutes, it's because she is talking to Ana. Ana is aloof, sarcastic and insensitive but she is also caring, loyal and courageous which are qualities she shares with her twins. Since the merge Kat's personality change and now her personality is a perfect mix between her and Ana. Sometimes Kat lets Ana take the lead of her body, which means that Ana is in control of her body. 

Dmitri Alexandrevitch | Enemy
He is the leader of Союз. Kat swore to kill him for everything he did. Even if she is part of the Project, she is still searching him and she still wants to make him pay.

Alexandra & Vadim Kondakova | Parents (Estranged)
Kat was never really close with her parents. She rarely talked to them. After the merge, they left the facility and Kat never saw them and she doesn't want to.

— She is quiet and reserved at first but when she starts to get to know people she opens up and talks a lot more. She is very protective over the people she considers her friends.
— She is afraid of getting to attached to people, because she is afraid to lose them, so that' why she waits for them to come talk to her.
— It takes her quite sometime to trust someone. She will do research on them until she is convinced they are worth trusting.
— She drinks appromatively 1 million cups of coffee a day. No more realistically, she drinks between 8 and 12 cups of coffee. It helps her with her migraines.
— Her mind reading power is always 'on' so she hears every one thoughts all the time, that's why she has very painful migraines.
— She often has nightmares of the day her sister and herself were merge.
— If she is speaking fast or if she angry she speaks in Russian.
— She is deadly afraid of spiders. Even if she has enough powers to nearly kill the whole planet, she can't kill one tiny spider.
— She reads a lot.
— She likes to dress casually. She usualy wears skinny jeans with oversized sweaters or crop tops and a leather jackets. Except for a special occasion, she doesn't wear dresses.
— The night is her favourite time of a day. She likes to walking at night, it helps her relax and think.
— Her favorite food is Russian food and then American food.
— Her favorite fruit are peaches and watermelons.
— She likes to light scented candles in her room.
— One of the things she always does when meeting new people is looking at their memories to know if she is in danger. 

Alright. Good morning, my name is agent cameron adams with the united nations. my specialty is in military psychology, so i'm here to determine if you'll be a good fit for our project. Now, Can you tell me about yourself?

The girl in front of Agent Adams seemed lost in her thoughts and it looked like she hadn't heard him. "Oh come on let me talk to him, he's cute! And he won't even know it's not you!" "I said no Ana!" "You're no fun сестра" She could feel her sister pouting. "Okay maybe later on the interview, ok?" "Fine". She then seemed to remember that she wasn't alone. 
"Oh! I'm sorry good morning to you too Agent. I suppose you already know my name since you were involved in the recruitment, but I still can introduce myself if you want, I'm Katsyarina Kondakova, 22 years old, born and raised in Russia. I left Russia when I was seventeen and now I live in a small apartment in Brooklyn and I used to work at a coffee shop."

i understand that you have some special... abilities. Can you describe what those are for me?

"I am a Psychic, which means that my mind is my most powerful weapon" Kat moved her hand and the folder in front of Agent Adams levitated gently in the air. "I have Telekinetic abilities that ranked from levitating objects to blasting a powerful discharge of psychic energy accross a wide range." She paused, thinking, before continuing "I also have Telepatic abilities. I can read and control minds. I hear what people are thinking 24/7. And other things that are not very pleasant."

do you have any weaknesses that i should know about?

"Well my powers are so intense that I have to be in control all the time, if I let my emotions override me, I loose control of my powers and I can do damage that are irreparable. Also if I'm in big crowds my mind reading power is useless because there are too many thoughts in my head." She hesitated before continuing "I... I don't like to work in teams, I have a hard time trusting people. I prefer to work alone because I won't be able to deal with someone sacrificing their lives for me if the need be. I couldn't stand losing someone I care about. Not again" She muttered the last part.

What would you consider your "origin story"?

"My origin story?" She took a deep breath as if to give herself strenght and began telling story. "As I already told you, I was born in Russia. I was part of an organisation called Союз, it is a secret society specialized in espionage and terrorism. They have done multiple terror attacks accross the globe and have formed alliances with other terrorists groups. I was part of an experiment. It consisted of injecting serums into us, when we were still foetuses. My twin sister and I were born with these powers. But we were not strong enough according to the leader so he decided to merge us. My twin sister died and I absorbed her powers and spirit. She now lives in my body. Two sides of the same coin if you want. I still to this day feel guilty that I was the one absorbing her powers and not her absorbing mine." Kat paused feeling the tears started to fill her eyes, Ana sensed it. "Okay I'll take it from here" "After that Kat trained again and again to be able to fully control her powers." If Agent Adams was surprised by Ana's intervention, he didn't say anything. "She planned an attack on the facility and one night after she helped all the remaining children from the experiment escaped, she made the guards and staff kill themselves. I'm extremely proud of what she did that day and I want you to know that I'm not blaming you for what happened, I'm happy to be sharing a body with you, got it you stubborn child?" She felt Kat nod her head and smiled "Good! Oh and by the way I'm Anastasiya, but you can call me Ana. Hi ! Do you know that you are gorgeous? Do you have a girlfriend."  Kat was mortified that her sister flirted with Agent Adams that she took the lead back. "I'm so sorry for my sister! But yeah, it happened exactly as she told you. After that I left Russia to come here. I work at a coffee shop for a while but there was an incident and I left. And you recruited me, so here I am."

Can you tell me about your family, friends, and work or school relationships? anyone important or close to you in your life, really. There's a confidentiality agreement at stake, here.

"Well, it only consists of Ana and I. I lost contact with my parents a long time ago and even when I was still in contact with them they never acted as parents so I don't considers them my family. For friends, can I say Ana too? I don't really have friends or work or school relationships. I'm a lone wolf if you hadn't noticed."

is there anything or anyone in your life, past or present, that may compromise you or project hero in any way?

"You mean apart for my plan to kill Alexandrevitch for what he did to us and to others." She chukled "No there is nothing else that may compromise me or the project. Just know that I will stop at nothing to destroy that bastard."

let's change the subject. what can you do for project hero?

She thought this over. "I can find any answers you want, I can control any persons you want... Basically anyhting you can think of I can do it. I don't have any second thoughts about hurting criminals to gain information or kill them if you ask me to."

how do you work best? do you prefer working in a team or alone?

"As I said before, I prefer being alone but maybe it would be beneficial for me to work in a team. At least I hope." She seemed nervous at the prospect of working in a team but did her best to hide it. "I actually have no idea of what it is like to work in a team."

you're one of very few to get to this stage of screening to be a hero. Why didn't you reject our invitation?  why are you here?

Kat answered almost inmmediately. "Because I want to protect innocent people and I know it sounds silly, but I want to eradicate all the evil in this world. I grew up being trained to kill and being expiremented upon. I don't want any children in this world to live what I lived. I want them to have a happy family and not to grow up with that the world will fall apart because of criminals and terrorists."

shall we roleplay a few scenarios? let's say a terrorist has another member of the project hostage with a bomb in their cell with them. there's also a nuclear missle pointed at new york. you know how both of these can be disarmed, but you have twenty minutes before the bomb detonates and the nuclear missle is launched. what do you do?

"I'll telepathically tell the member how to disarmed the bomb because I know they can handle themselves and the terrorist  and I would go disarmed the missile.Or if I'm running out of time, I will try to redirect the missile's course telekinetically."

the project has reason to believe that one of four individuals is the leader of a major crime ring. There isn't enough evidence to identify which one, but you and another hero have a hunch that points to one of them. we're informed that the crime ring plans to violently murder a large number of innocent people in 48 hours. what do you do?

"Take the suspect hostage and look inside his memories until I find something that makes him guilty or if my partners is inclined to it, torture the suspect until he talks. Usually it shouldn't take more than 6 hours for us to get information. It seems cruel but I don't have any pity for criminals."

you're sent on a solo mission to a remote location to gather information about new military weapons a terror group is designing. while on the mission, your cover is blown before you go in, but you know where and how to get the weapon designs. what do you do?

"I'll put everyone at that location in an illusion so that I can get the weapon designs without being spotted." She then added "I hope I didn't answer your questions too quickly or that you will think I'm a heartless monster because of what I said I'd do"

another hero tells you that they've fallen in love with you. you return their feelings. what do you do?

Kat took quite some time to answer that question. She was thinking about the realistic way she would react. "Obviously you would run away and hide yourself because you can't bear the thought that you can be happy without something horrible happening to the person you're happy with." "Well it hasn't worked so great for you so yeah I'm insecure and cautious when it came to feelings." She huffed and answered. "I would probably freak out at first. I'm not used to people having feelings for me or me having feelings for someone. I think that I would think that I'm dangerous for them and that I could hurt them or have them killed or worse kill them if I loose control of my powers. But I think that eventually I'll come around and realise that I'm not a beacon for danger and death and that I can also be happy without being fearful."
