if you walk through joongdong and ask a random student what they think of han se ryung, their response would either be 'who is that?' or 'there's a student named han se ryung?'. se ryung in general is normally very quiet and soft-spoken. her quietness is the result of having a family with stronger personalities. her parents and brother do not hesitate with their words and are incredibly outspoken. she ends up not having words to say or not having a chance to express her opinion. she's shy around new people and finds it hard to start a conversation thus, rather not have any friends. se ryung is also timid. she doesn't dare to speak freely in fear of offending others. she doesn't want to say the wrong thing and make others angry, upset or awkward. se ryung is also a sensitive young lady. she feels more sensitive towards the things said to her. she doesn't want to offend others and hates it when others say mean things about her. se ryung gets upset easily at the things people say about her but she won't show or tell anyone. she keeps all her feelings bottled up. furthermore, se ryung is kind of naive and gullible. she's lived a sheltered life. so se ryung easily believes what others say. it's sad but she's been cheated and played a few times because of this. she is an idiot emotionally. she's too trutsting of people which is sad. as an artist, se ryung is a little messy. she tries her best to keep her mess within her workspace though and no one should ever try to touch her mess. even with her soft personality, she will get angry if anyone touches her art supplies. her mess is her system. mess that up and you mess up her system. rawr
if you give se ryung a task or ask her to complete something, she will do her best to complete it as soon as possible. when she puts her mind on it, nothing can stop her. she has a lot of determination. i guess in a way, you can also say she is kind of stubborn. plus, surprisingly, se ryung has a lot of aegyo and acts cute without realising it. but this only happens around people she likes and feels comfortable around. if you're not on the above, then you'll most probably be unable to see the cute side of han se ryung.
se ryung is actually a sweet girl. people can't tell since she doesn't easily get close to others but se ryung smiles a lot. she is nice and tries to help the people she cares about. being a talented artist, se ryung is quite modest about her talent. whenever people praise her art, she would respond by saying that it's nothing special and anyone could do the same thing. praise goes in one ear and out the other but criticisms remain on her mind for a long time. whenever arguments occur in the prom committee and people start taking sides, se ryung will be one of the few who remains calm and tries to diffuse the situation despite being soft-spoken. see, she hates screaming, by others or by her. not only that, wehenever a situation arises, se ryung does her best to remain calm and think of different possibilities and ways to solve it. when she thinks of something, instead of outright telling the others, she quietly raises her hand and waits for someone to notice her before telling that person. in addition to those qualities, se ryung is also a quite an agreeable person. when the others make a decision, she just agrees and goes along with whatever the others want. even if she might not like it, she won't say a word about it. if there's a voting to decide on soemthing and you need someone on your side, just look for se ryung but make sure you find her first. if someone else already got her to agree to their idea, then too bad for you. again, as an artist, se ryung needs to be creative and thankfully, she is. art is her life and she loves the various art genres. she can draw and paint anything in any style. modern or traditional. most teachers and adults also trust her with duties or assignments because se ryung is one of the most responsible person you will meet. she does things with her determination and hates to disappoint people so whatever is asked of her will definitely be completed.

han se ryung was born on the 8th of august in 1999 as the second child to han junho and im jinhee. she has an older brother, han se jun who is four years older than her. their family is an average upper middle-class family. han junho works as an engineering lecturer at the prestigious seoul national university while im jinhee is an art gallery curator. se jun is currently an engineering student at snu as well. being the youngest child as well as a daughter, se ryung wasn't paid as much attention as they did to her brother. her parents were incredibly strict and always expected her to be well-mannered and she listened to them. unfortunately, se jun doesn't and constantly caused trouble which led to se ryung being further ignored. she tried studying hard and doing well at school to get their attention but all she got was a pat on the head before they ran off to deal with more things. in fact, se ryung mostly grew up in her grandparent's house.
se ryung began doing art at the age of seven. even from a young age, her talent in art shined bright like a diamond. it came no surprise to her family though because the talent ran in her family. se ryung's paternal grandfather was a potter. he learnt his skills from a famous pottery master from the last korean dynasty and has sold a lot of his pieces to rich families. his wife, se ryung's grandmother was a famous painter and has held many art shows over the years including some at her daughter-in-law's gallery. some of her pieces are currently placed in korea's national gallery and the blue house. se ryung studies art under her grandmother and her first art piece also belongs to her grandmother. in her words, 'you will be famous like me so i want to have your first piece.' even though se ryung's parents rarely had time for her, she was always her grandmother's favourite.
in joongdong high school, se ryung is practically non-existent. not a lot of people knows her and she likes it that way. it was no surprise that se ryung joined the arts club in her first year and even though she was super talented, still no one knew her. not a lot of people joined the arts club and those that did weren't exactly part of the popular groups of joongdong. they mostly joined the famous and more popular clubs like the sports teams, cheerleading teams, school council and dance. initially, se ryung only planned on joining the arts club but in her second year, ms. ahn saw a few of her paintings and drawings on mrs. kim's table. she sought out se ryung and asked her to join the drama club to help with the behind the scenes production. se ryung, being the type of person who can't refuse people, reluctantly agreed.

han junho + father + 48 + han junho isn't a bad father but he isn't a good one either. as a lecturer, he spends a lot of time on campus and rarely has time for his children and the time that he does have ends up going to se jun. so se ryung isn't remotely close to her father.
im jinhee + mother+ 47+ se ryung's relationship with her mother is kind of similar to the father's but slightly better since they both enjoy the same field of art. another reason why she loves art is because her mother frequently brought her to art shows as a child. it's hard to communicate with her mother but it doesn't make her love her any less.
han se jun + oppa + 22 + oppa is her biggest trouble in life. he's an attention and he takes everything away but she loves her brother all the same. se ryung is closer to her brother than she is to their parents. despite se jun's childish personality, he is the most protective of his sister and is upset she isn't more outgoing (though that can be somewhat blamed on him)

in their entire family, se ryung is closest to her grandparents. she grew up in their household as her parents were always too busy for her. they dote on her the most and always say that she is their favourite grandchild. she loves her grandparents and feels most comfortable around them.

oh hayoung + 18 + hayoung is se ryung's one and only best friend. they met at joongdong when se ryung was assigned to be hayoung's deskmate. hayoung was also an arts club member and a fan of se ryung's grandmother which was how they got close. hayoung is se ryung's only close friend. while hayoung has other friends, she also considers se ryung her best friend and spends more time with her. se ryung can tell anything to hayoung and know that the other would not judge her.
oh jiae + 18 + the top of joongdong, unoffiicial queen of joongdong. se ryung has never spoken to her and only seen her. she's envious of how jiae is so outspoken but doesn't want to be like her. sometimes, se ryung does wonder though, how it feels like to be her friend. after the prom committee was chosen, jiae tries to talk to her to make friends but se ryung, being the wallflower that she is, avoids her a little. especially since she doesn't like attention and jiae is all about attention. eventually, se ryung becomes more comfortable around jiae.

kim jaekyung + 28 + the arts club teacher. initially, didn't think se ryung would amount to much when she first saw her since she doesn't stand out. but when se ryung handed in a drawing for her class, mrs. kim was shocked. this teenager could draw this well?! se ryung is one of her favourite students and mrs. kim works with se ryung personally on her art projects.
ahn heeyeon + 30 + se ryung isn't sure about ms ahn. she's nice and recognises her talent. tbh, initially, se ryung liked her since like was mentioned before, she saw se ryung's talent and made the best of hit. but se ryung's impression of her dropped a little after she basically made se ryung join the prom committee. the drama club is mostly her and other art club members who she knows and are kind of friends/acquaintances. prom is a whole other level.
the prom committee + 18-19 + erm, they're interesting. so many strong personalities on one team and then you have se ryung. the quiet one who agrees to everything. they're all nice people, scary but nice. se ryung likes them but is just afraid of getting close to them.

se ryung has short, shoulder-length dark hair with bangs which makes her face seems smaller than it already is. her short dark hair helps hide her. no one ever notices her since her bangs nearly cover her eyes as well. with big brown eyes, small cute lips, and blemish-free skin, se ryung does not need any makeup and rarely uses it too. she will only be motivated to use makeup during family events or special dinners and events. with her art skills, se ryung is actually very good with makeup. se ryung's fashion style is more towards the girly type. she normally wears skirts, maxi skirts, shorts, oversized sweaters and normal tees. she doesn't like to dress up to stand out. she just likes to blend in. for family gatherings, due to her traditional family, se ryung has to wear a hanbok. when it comes to footwear, you can normally see her in sneakers, flip flops or flats. heels are only for special events. se ryung likes to dress for comfort and has no care for being pretty so she doesn't wear colours that stand out. when she is doing her art, she just wears old tees and comfy pants to avoid getting dirty. as for her school uniform, se ryung wears the traditional uniform with the blazer. she follows the rules on how to wear it but sometimes, you may see paint smudges at the bottom of her blazer.

jung jaehyun, captain of the basketball team, is undeniably one of the most popular guys in joongdong high school. tall, good-looking and an athlete, he has it all and all girls love it. well, almost all girls. everyone knows who he is. even those from outside joongdong knows him as their basketball captain who constantly leads his team to the championships. jaehyun is also quite sociable to all that he meets. he can easily strike a conversation with anyone and everyone. somehow, he always knows what to say and when to sy it. he doesn't hesitate with his words. along with his friendly persona is a playful guy. seriously, he loves making jokes and playing pranks. jaehyun knows how to have fun and enjoys having fun. there is never a boring day around him. plus, don't be fooled by his athleticism. most people think athletes aren't as smart but jaehyun is quite observant. he sees things others don't and pays attention to his surroundings. he is smarter than he looks though he doesn't often let it be shown.
but despite his happy, friendly and seemingly perfect outward appearance, like all humans, jaehyun is flawed. he has his vices as well. for one, jaehyun is surprisingly disobedient. when you tell him to go left, he goes right. look up? he chooses to look down instead. he doesn't like being restricted by rules or people. he's a free spirit. he does what he wants. he'll listen to you but only if he wants to. adding on to that, jaehyun has a cynical view towards life. his parents has a business relationship, they're married but only for business. each has their own affairs on the outside and the other turns a blind eye to whatever the other does as long as it doesn't affect their family and business. and being from a rich family, his parents only cares about money, hence jaehyun being cynical. he doesn't easily trust but those that he does, he trusts with his life. this might not come as a surprise considering that jaehyun has a playful streak but he can also be childish when he wants to. when jaehyun is, he gets angry at the littlest things and will stay angry until he decides to stop. not only that, he will act childish to get what he wants and annoy you like the child that he is. finally, jaehyun is also quite strong-willed. when he decides on something, nothing can change his mind. he knows his principles and won't compromise them for anything.
*he is friendly to everyone but doesn't go out of his way to talk to girls especially fangirls as he finds them annoying. when he's training with his team, they come and disturb their practices which he hates.*
your first meeting..
early in the morning, se ryung walks towards the gym, bringing her art supplies in to draw as it's one of the more peaceful places when you're early as well as having awesome lighting. she expects no one in there and her hands are full. she plans on drawing to her heart's desire before classes start. but as se ryung enters the gym, she hears dull thudding sounds. finding it weird, she walks further in and sees a young man, running around with a basketball. shocked, she drops everything on the ground. he turns around, revealing himself to be captain of the basketball team, jung jaehyun. even more shocked, se ryung stares for a second before scrambling to pick up her supplies. jaehyun runs over to help but it freaks se ryung out even more.
'hey, are you okay?'

'are you gonna keep nodding to everything i say or actually answer me?" grins

after managing to pick up everything, se ryung speed walks out of there but in her rush, still drops her paintbrush bag which has her named sewn onto it. as she leaves, jaehyun stares after her and slowly picks up her bag. se ryung was so freaked out by the entire thing that she forgot all about her brushes.
after that first meeting, the next time they officially met was during the prom committee. se ryung also hadn't gotten her brushes back and although she really needs them, she'd much rather buy new ones than have to go through the torture of talking to the basketball captain. jaehyun on the other hand, was unable to find her despite knowing her name from her brush bag. everyone he asked did not know her or never heard of her. she just appeared and disappeared like a ghost. then during the first prom committee meeting, jaehyun was sitting around with jiae, having been friends through their clubs when se ryung quietly walked in. no one noticed her but jaehyun.
jaehyun raised his arm and called se ryung. after he did, se ryung looked like a deer caught in headlights and froze. he asked her to sit with them and with her unable to refuse, she slowly walked over with her head low. he smiled as she sat and he returned her brushes. his smile grew as he saw se ryung smile softly when she grabbed her bag.

jaehyun and se ryung are quite cute together. she tries to avoid him and will do anything to not be noticed but somehow, this guy seems to always be able to notice and find this ghost. whenever jaehyun talks to her, she responds by either nodding or shaking her head, wanting to not talk as much as possible. eventually, jaehyun made it his goal to get her to talk or smile, finding her adorable.
other girls were jealous that their oppa was giving so much attention to this nobody. a girl no one knows or talks to. but somehow, he just likes her. se ryung was so unlike the girls he usually knew or hung out with. she doesn't scream when she sees him or sticks to him. she doesn't even want to talk to him. then jaehyun sees se ryung acting cute to some of the other girls and he gets jealous. jaehyun slowly falls for se ryung.
se ryung on the other hand, is usually uncomfortable in public and everyone usually ignores her, especially guys. but then, here is a guy who wants to hear her voice. he sees her when no one else does. she's nicknamed the ghost but she doesn't seem like a ghost around him. he tries to make her laugh and smile. he sees her. that was more than enough for her. jaehyun is just particularly sweet to her. yes, he is normally friendly but he doesn't go out of his way for other girls. it would be hard for any girl to not fall for this guy.
when jaehyun realises he likes se ryung, he became more protective over her. he didn't ask her out immediately because he knows her timid personality and does not want to scare her away. jaehyun wanted to make her more comfortable around strangers and him, make her more confident. jaehyun didn't realise she was slowly falling for him and wanted to take it slow for her sake.
end game..
eventually, jaehyun asks se ryung to prom. at first, she wasn't sure what to say because she wasn't even planning on attending. she was just gonna finish the decor and setting up then go home and relax. but the other girls whom se ryung got close to, convinced her to say yes. after she agreed, he realises se ryung feels the same towards him. one of the other girls told him how nervous and excited she was especially since it's her first prom. he decides to ask her out during prom.
when jaehyun sees se ryung in her dress, he had no words. in his eyes, she just sparkled so bright and her existence was so radiant. se ryung was like a caterpillar all this while, quiet and unnoticed. but after being with jaehyun more, she began to bloom into a butterfly. he asks her to dance during one of the slower and more romantic songs. while dancing, jaehyun feels the strong urge to hold her closer and give her a kiss. surprisingly, se ryung doesn't resist. after the kiss, jaehyun asks se ryung to give him a chance and be his girlfriend. se ryung blushingly agrees.
