PERSONALITY
affable:
mio is someone who comes off as cool and confident. she's friendly to those who are nice to her and always has a witty comment to remark. the rapper doesn't go out of her way to make friends but in the instance that she does, she's pretty good at keeping a conversation going with her great sense of humour and enthusiasm. when around people she's confortable with and trusts, she's very goofy and isn't afraid to make fun of herself. mio seems like nothing could phase her, which is(mostly) true. no horror movies, creepy crawlies or dangerous looking rollercoasters can make this gutsy, fearless girl bat an eye. whilst not super outgoing, once you approach her, she's very fun to be around with her jokes and energy.
open-minded:
she doesn't judge. whether you had three nose jobs or slept with fifty people, mio isn't quick to stick labels. you can trust her with your darkest secrets and trust her to understand. Mio is alert to people's emotions and she's very honest when giving advice but tactful all the same. after all, she knows what its like to be in a dark place. simultaneously, if she feels someone needs a push she's gonna give it to them. Mio is typically aware of other people's feelings but isn't above serving up the truth to someone straight when they're screwing around. so if its a shoulder to cry on or a solution to an issue you need, mio's your go-to-girl.
protective:
mio cares a lot about the people close to her and won't stand by when they get hurt. seriously, upseting her friends and family is a bad idea. she'll get into fights with anyone who wrongs her friends if it means she can defend them. mio worries about the well being of her loved ones and will be reluctant when allowing them to be in situations where they could be harm, physically and emotionally. she's wary about potentially dishonest guys or conniving girls in her friends lives. Mio hates seeing them broken-hearted and belittled.
Guarded:
Kwon miyeon maybe a friendly person, but for most, there's not much chance of getting very close. she's very selective about the people who she lets into her mind and opens up to about her insercurities. if sensitive subjects get brought up, she avoids the conversation or becomes slightly hostile. when pried at, she'll lash out when left alone, she'll wall herself in. a lot of caution and care needs to be taken when approaching her about her troubles but if her trust is gained, she'll tell you how she really feels.
self-deprecating:
whilst mio is genuinienly sociable and good-natured, deep inside, she hides her almost crippling insercurities. Mio doesn't like the way she looks and rarely ever feels as if she's good enough. she's very hard on herself. if there's even a hint of flaw, mio will put herslef down regardless of whether she is at fault for antyhing or not. Mio is also one to dwell on mistakes and embarassing moments, though she masks it well with her cool front. when she thinks theres need for improvement, she'll work herself to death if someone doesn't stop her.
Careless:
when under pressure or emotional turmoil, she becomes moody and fiesty. she'll snapped at people who try to get close and can really hurt their feelings. Mio tends to take her anger out on others because she can't take it out on herself. if the situation escalates and she is further provoked, she can become blind with rage and say really nasty things that she doesn't even mean. however, when mio realises that she's wrong, she's not reluctant to feel remorsed and isn't stubborn about apologising. she won't expect forgiveness though.
background
On august 8, 1998, kwon miyeon was born in daegu, south korea. she was a bright, optimistic child who was always full of ideas. her childhood was pretty happy spending time with her band of friends and loving parents. however, the first big change in miyeon's life occurred when she moved away to seoul at the age of 12. she found it hard to adjust to the new environment leaving all her old friends behind and starting a new school with no friends at all. miyeon felt out of place and wanted to go back to daegu, back to her friends so bad but her mother convinced her that she could have friends here too, that she just needed to start talking to them.
luckily, after about a week, she did make a friend, a charismatic girl named jung taehee and made more friends through her. over time miyeon trusted her enough to tell her about her crush. he was a boy named jaehyun who miyeon wanted to ask out one day. taehee promised to keep it a secret. miyeon was happy to have found a group to stick with. she no longer felt lonely and returned to the old her, energetic without a care in the world. but this didn't last long.
later that year, she overheard a conversation that would start a change in her. whilst in the bathroom stall, miyeon heard a voice. "who's your partner for the project?" the first voice said. "miyeon" the second voice, which miyeon recognised as taehee's responded plainly."who's miyeon?" a third voice inquired. "kwon miyeon, you know, that ugly girl who likes jaehyun?" the first voice answered. "ohh, her, taehee didn't say she was annoying?" said the thrid voice. "why do you hang out with her?". "she just follows me around, i don't even like her that much" taehee coldly stated. the squeak of a tap being turn off and the door swinging shut were the last noises in the room before the sound of sobbing echoed off the walls.
after that a few realisations were made. miyeon wasn't a pretty child. she never was. she had always thought there was a difference between her and the pretty idols she saw on tv but she could never put her finger on it. but now, it was clear to her and it bothered her so much. sometimes, when she passed by, she would hear whispers of the word "ugly". maybe they had always been said but she had never noticed those words until now.
miyeon stopped talking to taehee and her friends completely and distanced herself from jaehyun. she kept to herself for a long time and it wasn't until the next year that things began to look up for her. miyeon befriended Bae yujin, a new girl in school when the two were paired up for an activity. gradually, they became close through their similiar interests and sense of humour. because of yujin's kindness and empathy, miyeon regained the courage to trust others again and brightness slowly returned to her personality. although she'll never be as energetic as she used to be, miyeon now felt confortable socialising and began to make a few friends.
big bang are her idols, miyeon has looked up to them since middle school. inspired by their music, she began rapping when she was 15. the next year(2014) miyeon planned on auditioning for YG entertainment. but upon arriving at auiditions and seeing all the beautiful, talented auditonees, the pressure took it's toll and miyeon backed out. she missed the opportunity to become a yg trainee and it took some pep talk from her parents and yujin for her to be confident enough to try again. this time, miyeon went to fantagio entertainment as they were holding auditions. despite the initial nervousness, she passed auditions.

-she really dislikes singing. miyeon appreciates good singers but she isn't one and just doesn't like her own singing voice.
-miyeon hates aegyo. she thinks it's cringy. doesn't like doing it and doesn't like when other people do it.

-because she is worried about gaining weight, miyeon is conscious about her diet

-she isn't a morning person and is really grouchy when she doesn't get enough sleep

-but words can hurt her, even if she tries to hide it

-she gets really frustrated when she loses something and can't find it. she'll turn the dorms upside down looking for it.

-in situations that phase most people(haunted house, seeing a spider etc.), Miyeon is very nonchalant since there's no real danger

-she's really clumsy at typing/texting. when people receive long texts from her, it's guruanteed to have at least one typo.

yujin is miyeon's close friend who she's known since middle school. yujin has seen more of miyeon's bad sides than anyone else and is patient with her. miyeon values yujin very much and would do anything to protect her. they're always messing around together and are always there for each other. yujin is very supportive of miyeon's dream to be an idol.

miyeon has a fairly good relationship with her parents. they are always worrying about her health and how she's feeling. at first, they were both against her wanting to be an idol but seeing her hardwork and devotion, they eventually let her pursue her dream and supported her.

miyeon isn't sure if she is close enough to koxun to consider her a friend but the two are on good terms. they exchange small talk now and then and miyeon even gave her tips on rapping once. they didn't interact often during their trainee days so don't know each other well. miyeon thinks koxun is very pretty though.

miyeon at the time of her audition was a decent rapper, but couldn't really be considered good. however, whilst training under the company she improved immensely, her sense of rhythm got better along with her delivery. she had never danced before but was surprised at how quickly she picked it up. miyeon isn't among the best of dancers but she has no trouble getting the hang of choreography or keeping up. as for her singing...it was never very good and just didn't get better despite the vocal training. she still sounds nasally and airy as ever, so it's probably a good thing she can rap.
