Sarang also has a small scar on her left forearm which was from when she accidentally (and clumsily) slashed it with her ID way back in middle school.

PERSONALITY TRAITS :

✦ s t r e n g t h s — easygoing, diligent, realistic, spontaneous, helpful

"Hey, what do you call a fake pasta? ... an impasta! HAHAHA!"

        indecisive, conscious, pathetic, tactless, harsh — f l a w s

PERSONALITY :

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Sarang tends to be like your typical but actually not so typical down-to-earth girl. She's noticeably easygoing; someone who's fairly simple to get along with and talk to. It can possibly be why she can control her temper so well. Though not exactly the type to get A's on tests, she's very hardworking in what she does, as she likes seeing good results of her efforts. When she puts her mind to something, she turns constant and attentive to accomplish it. She's a little stupid, but surprisingly, she bases on practical things. She likes to accept things as they are in fact and not make decisions based on unlikely hopes and hypotheses (hence, the indecisiveness [will be explained shortly]). She's also very kind; usually the compassionate one that helps even the stray cats and beat-up people she randomly sees on the streets. Sarang likes helping because the guilt she feels of seeing them but not actually doing something for them vanishes. The sight of seeing somebody happy because of her makes her smile.  Sarang can also be very spontaneous often-times. She likes taking a lot of risks and is the type to live life to the fullest by doing what she wants. Therefore, when she invites friends to hang out, she actually has no plan laid out beforehand. I guess you can say that she's a "Don't think, just do." type of person who doesn't like making a fuss out of things and thus, tends to brush frustrating situations away (as they make her "age").

"Am I really too noisy?" The type to go back and forth - most probably, Sarang. She can't easily make a decision because often, she doesn't know what she wants. As a result, she's used to being dependent, so she heeds a lot of advice from people who she thinks are reliable. Also quite gullible, because of her thirst to look good to everybody, she often loses her own self in an effort to blend in. She even goes as far as fabricating her personality for the sake of keeping relationships (and so, she's kind of being an attention-seeker). It's most probably because of her consciousness to the words and actions of other people towards her that she's a little too overreacting. She hates how she's easily affected by them, so she painstakingly tries to blend in by changing what "needs to be changed" in order to be "accepted". She unconsciously keeps being under the control of those who are indirectly hurting her as a result. Even though she appears to be thoughtful because of her indecisiveness, in actuality, Sarang is fairly reckless. Honestly, she doesn't think of the consequences of her actions, is very tactless in words and actions and is the type to regret after everything has already happened. In addition, she plays 'eeny, meeny, miny, moe' when she's settling for her decision. Overall, she really has no goal in life. She's very uncertain with what she does, and often doesn't know what she really wants. Furthermore, because Sarang is not easily angered, when she's angry, she's really harsh. She tends to bring others down with her, and she intentionally points out flaws of others in her bitterness. In these situations, she unconsciously rubs salt on wounds. Therefore, it's best not to talk to her when she's angry, or someone will end up having a broken arm.

BACKGROUND :

In a surreal three-story hosue somewhere in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, South Korea lived the Han household. Ever since Sarang was a baby, she had received nothing but love from her parents. She was an only child, so she was naturally spoiled. She was so blessed to have the CEO of Kia as her father and a dedicated housewife as her mother. He was crazy busy, but the best thing about him was that he made time for his family. Sarang really liked that about her warm-hearted father - that no matter how much things got busy, Mr. Han always regarded them as his first priority. Her mother was always home with her, so she wasn't lonely. They loved her so much, and she herself often saw that.

Growing up, she had everything that she asked for. "Mommy, I want that Barbie doll." She would say, and she often got what she wanted. Even though she had a hundred of them already, she still received it. Maybe that's what shaped her to be so sensitive and tactless as she became older. She was really spoiled, no hiding that fact. Even though she didn't show it often, Sarang was really thankful to her parents. They were never the fussy ones who argued or got angry at her for buying another Barbie doll. They were always kind to her and considerate to the point that Sarang wanted them to become angry at her even once. But they never did, because they loved her so much even if she always got a C on her tests or bought her hundredth phone for the year. That was kind of frustrating for Sarang, so she thinks about it every once in a while. She would hate to be ungrateful though, but sometimes, it honestly makes her sad.

Receiving news that Pledis High was full of excelling students, Mr. and Mrs. Han enrolled her. Sarang, still very undecided, was burdened to be around a bunch of excellent and talented people. Unlike her, they knew what they wanted, and she was envious that they were so decisive on their future. She unconsciously became more sensitive the longer she studied there. Now a second year, she's still very much undecided, but because she doesn't want to let her parents down, she's trying her best to find what her ambition is in life. It's hard, but Sarang is ready to give it her all so that she can somehow repay all their kindness to her.

RELATIONSHIPS :

fc: Lee Sung Min

father — Han Sungki [48] | Kia's CEO | Austere, but actually playful and lighthearted | 3/5

As a father, naturally he wants the best for his daughter. Even though he's crazy busy, he still finds the time for his family, and in this way, he really shows that he loves them. He jokes around a lot, but as much as he's like that, he's serious when he needs to be. He often watches the television so he knows a lot of politics and business, thus he teaches Sarang whenever he has the chance.

"So do you get the whole ordeal with the stock market now?"
"Ermm... can you repeat it once more, please?"

fc: Jin Kyung

 mother — Woo Taehee [45] | Housewife | Easygoing, affectionate, concerned | 3/5

She unconsciously looks out for Sarang a lot. As the latter is her only child, she tends to be more protective and loving towards her. She tries her best to always give Sarang what she wants and shower her with love. She likes to talk with her daughter a lot (e.g. about fashion, cooking, news, her 'love life'; anything under the sun, really). Sarang is really thankful because her mother is always so nice and light-hearted to talk to, but sometimes she gets fed up because she's too nice.

"Ooh, look at her dress, Sarang-ah! I bet it would look great on you. Want it?"
"Ooh! You have a good eye, mom. As expected, hehehe."

best friend — Lee Minhyung/Mark [17] | Student | Stubborn, humorous, playful | 4/5

He loves teasing Sarang. He almost lives for it. In every chance he gets he always jokes around with her. Sarang wants to learn English from him but he often makes excuses because he's lazy. But despite being so playful, he's actually reliable. Sarang likes to think that he's her confidant. It's because Mark has always been there for her in the hardest times. He's been so supportive and always listened to her, so sometimes Sarang even forgets that he has his own worries himself.

"Sorry, I have something to do this afternoon, Sarangie~"
"You're lying, aren't you, Lee Minhyung?"
"... damn, how does she know?"

 close friend — Boo Seungkwan [18] | Student | Friendly, noisy, hard-working | 3/5

He's practically the friendliest person in the world, and Sarang doesn't miss his friend radar. Seungkwan approached her on one of her first days in school (as a first year) and he just suddenly started talking to her. They clicked after that. This guy is like a brother to her, and they often joke around in class. Whenever their friends tease each other, these two join forces and become comrades. Seungkwan often backs her up whenever they make fun of her.

"Guys, stop making fun of Sarang... I'm the only one who can do that."
"Yah, Boo Seungkwan! I thought you were on my side!"

STYLE/FASHION :

✦ Sarang doesn't like to dress flamboyantly, but she doesn't like to do it carelessly either. Rather, she wants to dress like she didn't even put effort yet still look awesome. With that said, Sarang picks outfits meticulously, but she does it efficiently without wasting so much time. Sarang likes simple clothes that match her personality, and she also likes to wear a lot of light colored ones like white, and pastels. She usually wears skirts on a daily basis, and since long-sleeved ones suit skirts a lot, she pairs the both of them.

PLACE OF RESIDENCE :

✦ Sarang lives in a modern, three-story house in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, South Korea. With a beautiful garden in front, a swimming pool, several guest rooms, three bathrooms, an enormous kitchen, a large dining room and two master bedrooms (1, 2) for the family, almost everybody who passes by stops and awes at it.

PLOTLINE : T h e  U n d e c i d e d

Whenever the topic of "what do you want to be when you graduate?" comes up, expect her to falter. She feels inferior and envious to be among students who have a set path for them when they grow up. Sarang is undecided - she doesn't know what she wants. She doesn't know if she harbors any talent. If being hardworking is one, then maybe she has a talent. Just one.

SCHOOL LIFE AND QUESTIONS

what is your goal/dream in life? :

Sarang's excited grin turns a little somber, but she tries to conceal it by smiling more widely. However, it's noticeable, but she decides to mutter, "I... I want to enjoy life." She doesn't mean it to sound forced. Not wanting to show that she has turned a little upset, Sarang tries to make it up by explaining, "It just means that my goal is to do everything that I want." Even though I don't know what they are.

how did you get into pledis high? :

At the question, she  turns a little more relaxed. "Oh, my parents heard about Pledis High. Were told it was great, and they decided to enroll me." Sarang's bright grin returns. "I really don't regret coming here, though. I have a lot of friends, even though it's a little rocky sometimes."

what do you think about pledis high and the socialite/high-class lifestyle of all the students? are you a part of that lifestyle? :

Sarang tilts her head, looking a little weirded out. "High-class? Does that pertain to the rich and fancy? Uhmm..." She bursts out into a chuckle, "Sorry, excuse me for my weirdness. I'm not fancy, but yes, I guess I have a socialite lifestyle." She laughs, thinking that it's a little absurd.

how long have you been attending pledis high? and what are your best subjects in school? :

"I attended first year here and am attending my second year here currently," Sarang says. "Subjects I'm best at? I can't say best," she pauses to laugh, "but I think my grades are pretty decent when it comes to English?" Her sentence ends up sounding like a question, indicating that she's not sure herself. Sarang laughs some more, "I'm not really good at studying, but I try."

do you already know any of the ocs or seventeen? if so, who and how do you feel about them? :

✦ "I actually know a lot of them, but I don't talk to all. Lisa became my partner in one subject, and she's really nice. We have the same interests." Sarang laughs, "Also. Seungkwannie. I really like his funny personality, even though he keeps making fun of me. He knows a lot about me, and he often shows that he cares. I also know Seokmin through him, but I'm not as close to him as I am with Seungkwan." Sarang grins, "And lastly, Wonwoo sunbae," she remembers with a slight blush on her cheeks. "He's very considerate towards me and understands me a lot... that's why I really like him..." She realizes her words and quickly shakes her hands in front of her, "I mean as a fellow student! I-I didn't m-mean it some other way!" Sarang covers her pink cheeks.

LOVE INTEREST : Jeon Wonwoo ✦ Seventeen
BACK UP LOVE INTEREST : Lee Jihoon

PERSONALITY :

"You can lean on me, though I may not look like it." Though austere, Wonwoo is actually not so detached from others. He is rather approachable with his charming smiles and respectful bows. He doesn't speak much, but he's reliable, and you'll definitely feel a warm and comfortable silence when with him. He has something charming and mysterious about him that Sarang can't exactly pin-point but attracts her to him. He is a man of few words - the exact opposite of the bright and perky Sarang. He's the type of person who looks like he doesn't care but shows how he really feels through actions. He's really subtle though, because he'll be easily embarrassed once someone finds out that he cares. Once he puts his mind to something though, he is really going to put all his effort and attention to it until he accomplishes it.

"I'm not good with words." Because he tries so hard to keep his feelings to himself only, he comes off as an indifferent person. You can tell him how you broke up with your boyfriend, and even though he's really listening, he looks like he's not. So some people (especially the ones he's not close to) mistaken him as a rude person who doesn't give a care about anyone. He's really confusing in that way, but sometimes he's also confusing when there comes a time wherein he's really sweet to you but at the next he's acting like nothing happened (Sarang surely doesn't like that about him). He's just not really good at expressing his feelings - and even though he doesn't look like it, he struggles by himself and thinks a lot about how to act.

LOVE STORY :

✦ It was her second week in Pledis High when she first saw Jeon Wonwoo. It being such a big school, it was almost impossible to meet everybody and know their names, but with Wonwoo, it took her only a mere five seconds to memorize his face and name by heart. She was walking in the hallways that day; she vaguely remembers that she was with Seungkwan on the way to the cafeteria. It was lunch time; Mark, her best friend, had an errand to do, and so, she was left with their new friend to eat. It seemed that a familiar someone had caught Seungkwan’s eyes because he stopped and said ‘hi’. “Ey, Wonwoo hyung!” His loud voice had rung in the big hallways. Sarang remembered asking herself curiously who this ‘Wonwoo’ was and how Seungkwan knew him (since he was just new like her; but it wasn’t really a surprise since he was a universal friend), and when she had laid her eyes on the junior who had a chiseled face and rough features, she swore that her whole world stopped. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but you get the gist.

✦ Wonwoo smiled, and for the first time in her non-existent love life, her heart fluttered. The three of them closed the space between, and Seungkwan greeted him again. This time, he spoke, and Sarang was not really surprised to hear a deep, velvety voice. “Hi.” He had simply said, and then he had his eyes trained on her. She knew he was just curious because she was a new face, but she had blushed anyway. It was nerve-wrecking to say the least. “Oh, you’re probably wondering who she is. She’s also a freshman like me. Han Sarang.” Seungkwan introduced. “H-hi, sunbae. My name is Sarang.” She bowed nervously. She tried to flash a perfectly normal grin, but she didn’t know how it turned out. His smile grew, “Hi, Sarang. I’m Wonwoo.” And she swore that she was already dead.

✦ The next time they met each other was when Sarang couldn’t check out a book in the library. Having forgotten her library card, she was left explaining to the rigid librarian who didn’t have an ounce of care whether she had a killer essay due the next week. “Need help with that?” Someone had asked, and she froze when she realized that it was Wonwoo. She still couldn’t believe that he had willingly checked out the book for her with his library card AND bought her a can of coffee. “Thank you so much, sunbae. I was the one who forgot my card but you still bought me this.” She said, and he smiled, saying that it was no problem. After a short silence, Sarang decided to (lamely, may I add) ask him about how he met Seungkwan (who was their mutual friend). She didn’t think he was the type to talk a lot, but surprisingly, he led a lot of conversations, just over two cans of coffee by the vending machine.

✦ After that, they kind of became acquainted with each other. By the time freshman year was done (for Sarang), they were, to say the least, good friends. They met a lot through Seungkwan and through random times (and when Sarang followed him – but ssh, that’s a secret). They found out that they had a lot in common in food (they both really like coffee), weather (they both don’t like rain), and even subjects (never knew Math was serving another purpose). In a nutshell, Wonwoo is just a different kind of friend (ehem ehem crush) for Sarang. When she’s with him, she actually forgets that she has an image she wants to protect. As soon as she sees him smile, her mind blanks out and she doesn’t know who she is. She’s just a normal girl who has a crush on Jeon Wonwoo.

✦ To him, Sarang is a strange but funny girl. He never notices the time pass by when she’s with him. His guard just breaks down, and he finds himself being more intrigued. With her, Wonwoo suddenly talks more and more. He doesn’t know why, or how, since he’s not even a talkative character, but he finds it easy to talk with her because of her down-to-earth personality. He’s just more comfortable around her – maybe even more comfortable than when he is with other guys. It’s because he rarely has camaraderie with other people, let alone a girl. He has never imagined himself in this situation, but strangely, Wonwoo likes being with Sarang.

✦ When they’re together, they just talk about random stuff. It can be about school, family or just themselves. Really, they find it easy to talk to each other about anything under the sun. Wonwoo is surprisingly funny, sweet and thoughtful. Even though Sarang is the type to joke a lot, he never fails to make her laugh by his weirdness (and randomness). When he sees her wearing their short skirt on a cold day, he just wordlessly covers her legs with his blazer when she’s in the middle of talking (honestly, that makes her stop and blush). He takes care of her by remembering all the small details (even her allergy in peanut). Sarang, in return, is very encouraging and helpful. Whenever Wonwoo is having a hard time, (did I mention that she has great timing?) Sarang just happens to be with him, so she does everything she can to cheer him up. She always tries her best to be his personal vitamin when he’s feeling down, and whenever he needs help with something, she’s always willing to do him a favor. In these small things, they’re both really thankful to each other even though they only meet about two times a week (minus the random times they see each other). Nevertheless, their friendship is still going strong despite their one-year .

RELATIONSHIP STATUS :  very great friends

(with Sarang being kind of obvious with her crush and Wonwoo unconsciously starting to like her)

ENDING :  dating! ♥

✦ “Are you okay?” Wonwoo asks Sarang. “Hmm?” She questionably raises her head to look at him. “I mean… are you okay being alone here? With me?” He half-seriously asks, looking into her eyes. His gaze is piercing her, but not in a bad way. Sarang slowly turns anxious, and she breaks their brief eye-contact. “W-what… what do you m-mean?” She doesn’t intend to stutter.

Wonwoo finally turns away to look at his surroundings. “Our friends. They left us here,” he says. “It wasn’t on accident. Seungkwan isn’t babysitting his sister. He doesn’t have one. And Mingyu?” He stops to chuckle, “He’s not away on an emergency trip to Busan. He’s at home playing games.” Then he turns to gaze at Sarang again.

She speechlessly blinks. They left us together intentionally? The thought somehow makes her blush. “And now we’re here. Only the two of us. In the busy streets of Garusogil. Don’t you think we should call it a date?” Wonwoo asks, and she senses a tinge of playfulness in his tone. “A-a date?!” She blurts, her voice going a tone higher because of her shock.

He laughs, and it sends good tingles behind her back. “Yeah, a date.” And somehow they end up walking together. Someone bumps Sarang’s shoulder, and she stumbles to the left in effect. Wonwoo automatically puts an arm around her shoulder to steady her. “Are you okay?” He asks, and she can literally hear him breathing near her ear. She pinks and shyly escapes his grasp. “I’m fine, sunbae.”

“Be more careful next time,” he reminds with a smile. Cute, he thinks.

They continue walking, and their hands occasionally bump each other. Sarang glances at Wonwoo, but she looks away when he looks back at her. Should I hold her hand? He thinks, and before he knows it, he reaches out and grasps her small hand in his. Sarang almost jumps in surprise. She reddens, and she pretends that she doesn’t mind it. His hand is warm, she thinks with a happy beam.

She’s really cute, Wonwoo concludes with a smile. Glancing another time at their intertwined hands, his grin grows.

✦ “We’re here.” He announces as they stop in front of her three-story house. I still don’t want to go inside, Sarang thinks wistfully. Neither of them speaks for a while, and a comfortable silence blankets the chilly night air. Her hand still on his, she softly says, “Thank you for today, Wonwoo. It was great. And… I really hope we can do this again.” She pinks at her words.

“You’re welcome. Actually, we should thank Mingyu and Seungkwan for having common sense.” They both laugh. “I’ll see you on Monday, sunbae.” Sarang regretfully lets go of his hand and turns back to enter the gate. “Sarang, wait.” He says, then suddenly she is spun around, and the next thing she knows, there are muscular arms wrapped around her small frame. Her heart beat quickens, and she blushes furiously. He’s hugging me, she thinks nervously.

“I’m sorry for not being able to express myself all the time. Still, thanks for always understanding me and accepting me. I’ll do my best from now on. I’ll show myself to you more often,” Wonwoo promises, tightening his hold on her. Sarang softly smiles. “You don’t have to apologize. I understand. I’ll wait for you.” She says, and he abruptly breaks their hug. He gazes into her eyes.

“Is… it okay if I kiss you?”

At his question, her eyes widen, and if it was possible, her heart would’ve exploded already. “It’s fine if you’re not ready though.” He immediately says, nervous that he was taking things too fast. Nonetheless, his voice is laced with a little bit of regret.

“N-no! It’s… it’s okay.” Her voice lowers down, and she blushes. Wonwoo leans closer to her, and she closes her eyes nervously. The next thing she knows, there are warm lips pressing against hers, and she literally feels the butterflies in her stomach. He wraps his arms around her waist, and Sarang grasps his shoulders to lean on him.

The kiss is not short, but not that long. It’s just enough to weaken her legs. “I like you, Sarang. But I guess it was already pretty obvious.” He smiles, his nose still pressed against hers. “But I would like it if you became my girlfriend.”

At the awaited question, she shyly smiles. “Okay, I’ll be your girlfriend.”

Wonwoo’s smile grows, and Sarang savors his touch as he kisses her forehead sweetly. “I’ll treat you well. I promise.”
