PERSONALITY TRAITS :

♕ what makes her a likeable person —

OBSERVANT ⋮ She is really attentive, especially when she is in practice. She notices small details quickly and picks up things well as her eyes and ears are always peeled open to her surroundings. When there is a secret camera, the members have a hard time when she's the one they're going to fool.

AMBITIOUS ⋮ Yeoreum has this determination that no one can beat. Often, she sets plans (both big and small ones), like taking a bath ten minutes after getting home or practicing by herself whenever she has free time. She likes to think that she will achieve big things if she starts with the small ones first.

COMPASSIONATE ⋮ Whether she spots a trainee or a member struggling with practice, a superior needing help in carrying his/her stuff or just a poor person asking her for money, she softens and does her best to help them. She just really likes the feeling of making other people happy through her actions, thus she has a desire to extend a helping hand to everybody who needs one.

RESPECTFUL ⋮ It's a given that when they see a senior, they bow. Yeoreum though, even to trainees, uses formal speech. To people she's not close to (even acquaintances), she is still not comfortable so she doesn't use 'banmal'.

ADAPTABLE ⋮ Under any circumstance, she always tries her best to adapt to new changes. For her, it's easy for unfamiliar things to become familiar in a snap. Thus, when she's acting, for her it's a piece of cake.

**Around close friends when she visibly relaxes though, she talks more often and even jokes around a lot. Around the people she really knows, she's the type of person to let out what's in her mind. She's that weird friend who kids around saying, "Oh, your underwear is blue, too! Is this destiny?" to her members or sister. And she becomes affectionate and unconsciously touchy (in a skinship-y kind of way) with them. Yeoreum also really likes talking about what they feel inside (like a heart-to-heart talk) and often she tells them everything that's bothering her and stuff (she opens up to them basically). In that way, she treats everyone close to her as a confidant.

♕ what is considered as her flaws —

AWKWARD ⋮ When you meet her for the first time, she's really, really awkward. She likes to label herself as 'unsociable', because she can't deal with meeting new people. She gets anxious, thus her hands become moist, and she stutters. Don't get her wrong though - she really likes making friends, but it's her awkwardness that sets a line between her and the other party.

COWARDLY ⋮ She doesn't like challenging herself. For Yeoreum, it's really hard to muster courage. If she needs to talk to somebody, she thinks about what she's going to say first before approaching that person.

INDECISIVE ⋮ Yeoreum can't seem to stay with one thought. Before coming up with her final choice, she thinks a lot, even if it's as shallow as picking an ice cream flavor. At this minute, she likes the mint one. Oh, but the coffee ice cream also looks great. She changes her decision again. Finally, she asks someone else for advice.

LAZY ⋮ As ambitious as she can be, she's also as lazy. She plans and plans, but when her laziness strikes in, she can't seem to get it done. Only when she's really determined that she exerts effort to finish what she needs to.

NEGATIVE ⋮ Being negative is somehow also the same as being realistic. Would hate to break it to you, but when she's in a sticky situation, all she thinks about is how it would end horribly. Even when she tries to think that it's going to be okay, negativity finds its way back to her.

♕ what can be both good and bad —

METICULOUS ⋮ Always wanting things to be perfect, she looks for every small detail she can find and thinks of how to change it for the better. She never stops practicing when she spots that she hasn't perfected the dance/song yet. Sometimes it's good because she can improve and precisely develop, but sometimes it's also bad for her health (plus, she becomes touchy about it).

WEIRD ⋮ Yeoreum has this weird interest in scents. She really likes the smell of mosquito repellants, baby soaps and car air fresheners. She also has a collection of those little stickers on fruits. Yeah, those.

STUBBORN ⋮ Being determined, she really thinks a lot about her decisions and plans. In effect, she becomes kind of possessive. She really sticks to her opinions, always pointing out that she's correct. In that kind of situation, being stubborn is bad, but in the end when she's actually the right one, her stubbornness is good.

BACKGROUND :

♕ Yeoreum was born in Mokpo, Seoul, South Korea, and has been residing there ever since 1996. Her father, a business man, is married to a previous accountant. After having her older sister Yeojin and Yeoreum, she retired and became a housewife instead. Her parents aren’t really strict with what they would like to be in the future, but of course, they both wanted the best for them. Being a business man though, Mr. Seo wanted either one of them to be into business like him, but as his children were into other fields, he just supported them. Before though, Yeoreum didn't know what she wanted to be, so she opted to become a business woman like her father.

♕ From the start, Yeoreum was already into music. She listened mostly to foreign ones though, but slowly, as the K-Pop craze spread, she also became a fan of different groups. But what got her attention most was Super Junior. It was in the "It's You" era when she spotted her older sister watching the music video. What started out from being a fan of Eunhyuk gave way to a dream she unconsciously yearned for. Shortly after becoming an Elf, she became a Shawol, and then a MeU (though, back in 2009, f(x) had no fandom name). She became interested in dancing, and she attempted several dances like NuAbo, Into the New World and Gee with her sister. It developed her interest and skill, so she became addicted with dancing. Slowly, she learned different dances, and she also learned to appreciate different genres of music. 

♕ Acting wasn’t really her first option before. She slowly appreciated the art of controlling her emotions through K-Pop also. When the singers she liked starred in various dramas, she came to like acting until she became more interested in it than dancing. Her love for it grew when she found out that she actually had the talent for it. At first, she just watched and studied through online acting classes and watched dramas because she thought it was a mere hobby, but it grew to the point that she really wanted to pursue it. So seeing her fervor, Yeoreum’s parents enrolled her into a real acting school so that she could enhance and improve. She was scouted by Hummingbird Entertainment while she was acting in the monthly evaluations.

♕ MUSIC ⋮ listening to music always made her happy; her favorite genres are R&B and ballad, but she loves songs that are like  'The 7th Sense'
♕ COFFEE ⋮ she doesn't drink everyday but she definitely drinks often; instant ones are her fave., but she also likes iced coffee from Starbucks
♕ RUNNING MAN ⋮ who doesn't like Running Man, right? When she has free time she watches this variety show (+she loves Monday Couple)
♕ NAIL POLISH ⋮ when she has spare money she spends it on buying different shades of polish; she especially likes white on her nails

♕ WASTING MONEY ⋮ I know, what a hypocrite; but she can't stay away from nail polishes! she doesn't like spending money on anything else though (maybe except for some food?)

♕ Yeoreum is a Christian and reads the Bible in her free time.
♕ She likes re-watching her dramas a lot.
♕ Her ideal type is Park Bogum (she would say this so much on TV tho).
♕ Around close friends, she leans her head on their shoulder as a habit.

♕ OLDER SISTER —  Seo Yeojin  <21> | Medical Student | blunt, protective, funny, supportive | 4/5 | They don't know if it's the small between them, but they're pretty close. They're almost like twins, except Yeojin is an extrovert - always speaking out. They say opposites attract, and that's exactly what the siblings are proving. Yeojin always takes care of Yeoreum like a baby. As her only sister, the older one always makes sure that she's healthy and well. She's almost like Yeoreum's 2nd mother because she keeps checking on the younger. Yeojin is the type of person to joke around (now do you know where Yeoreum gets her jokes? haha) and is treated as a confidant by her sister.

♕ COUSIN —  Jung Jaehyun  <19> | Singer (NCT) | light-hearted, playful, stubborn | 3/5 | As cousins who only meet on special occasions (and in music shows), they're not as close, but truthfully, Yeoreum is not really close with her other cousins except him. He was the one who approached her from the start, and his easy-going personality made her warm up to him and forget her awkwardness. When they meet, they hug and talk to each other about family or the life as a singer. Jaehyun always gives her advices and guides her so Yeoreum is really thankful that he's so helpful. He also lightly jokes around and is really good to be with, so when she's with him, she doesn't need to worry.

♕ BEST FRIEND —  Kwon Soonyoung (Hoshi)  <20> | Singer (SEVENTEEN) | friendly, noisy, hard-working | 4/5 | Practically he's the friendliest person in the whole world. They don't know why they became so close. Hoshi just approached her one day (since they were classmates) and he just told her bluntly that she shouldn't be so stiff and that she can just be herself around him. Hoshi and Yeoreum just clicked together after that. She's learning his ways on how to become more 'friendly'. Basically, these two just talk about anything and everything under the sun. Whether it be their least favorite teacher, their families, their life as a singer and even their lunches! He's definitely the most fun person she has ever known. Yeoreum just doesn't like how he's always making fun of her though.

♕ FRIEND —  Kim Yoojung  <17> | Actress | helpful, kind, optimistic | 3/5 | Yoojung is three years younger than her, but there seems to be no between them. Her personality is just so nice and light-hearted that it's really easy to be friends with her. They didn't know they would become close but during the shoot of Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (a real upcoming drama) they automatically came to know each other better. Yoojung texts her once in a while, and you will notice right away that her character is soft - someone who's fragile. Yeoreum treats her like a precious dongsaeng, because Yoojung is just so kind. Oh, did I mention that she's kind?

♕ CRUSH/SUNBAE —  Park Bogum  <23> | Actor | playful, 'cool', laid-back | 2/5 | As someone who's also in the same drama Yeoreum just recently filmed, she really, really admires Bogum. Of course, he's someone way up there, but it's not wrong to have a little crush, right? It really doesn't help that he's so fun and handsome, too. Yeoreum just admires his professionality in everything. They're just mere friends, though (not as far as an acquaintance but not as close as good friends). Whenever Yeoreum sees him, she blushes slighly and bows 90-degrees. He jokes with her sometimes and gives her advices, and it makes her fall for him even more.

PERSONA : the Summer Solstice ♕ 'Summer' simply represents her name, and the 'Solstice' means 'a turning point', so she'd like to relay a message that her turning point in life is making others happy through her music and acting.

TRAINEE YEARS : 4 years

TRAINEE LIFE :

♕ Yeoreum got scouted when she was performing for her monthly evaluations at an acting school in 2011. Since then, she had been practicing dance, vocal and acting all at once (mainly acting of course). When she was deemed to be 'okay' in participating real projects, she began her career in the movie The Dictator in 2014. Since then she was casted in various dramas like House of the Bluebird, Spy, Cheer Up and Moonlight Drawn By Clouds. Adjusting was easy for her, and she immediately became used to the system and staff of Hummingbird Entertainment. Since it was a 'house' of actors/actresses, she met a lot of people but she was alone most of the time (because of you know what ehem ehem her awkwardness ehem ehem). Some were really friendly and approached her first so she somewhat became more at ease.

♕ Of course, training is not all rainbows and unicorns (but it would be great if it was like that). Yeoreum didn't get along with everybody, but she doesn't know for what reason. Some trainees just ignored her whenever she asked a question or tried to *the keyword here is tried* be-friend them. I guess, that was hard for Yeoreum because she wasn't used to being rudely treated. She tried to accept it though, but it had a negative impact on her. Aside from that, she stays for extra hours in the practice room if she thinks that she hasn't perfected her acting/dance/song yet. She asks for a lot of advice (not before thinking of what to say to her seniors first though) and just like that, she hopes that her hard work will not betray her in the end.

you're already an actress, why did you want to be an idol? : 

♕ She blinks not once, but thrice, and her features are obviously but pleasantly surprised. "I-idol?" She voiced, and the interviewer confirms by nodding her head. Yeoreum looks at her nails, a little flustered. She ponders for a short moment, not before saying sorry if she's taking too long (to which the interviewer just smiled at). "Truthfully I liked music first before acting," she says, nodding. "I-it's something I wanted to pursue along with it, that's w-why." She declares nervously, giving a slightly awkward smile.

is there a concept that you want to try out in the future? : 

♕ She tries to wipe her moist hands on her jeans, racking her mind to think of someone. Her face lights up in remembrance. "Oh. Isseoyo." She says. "I... I really like the concept of Taeyeon sunbaenim's 'I'. Umm... I like how carefree she looks in the music video, and the song is really great, t-too." She attempts to smile, but she's still really nervous inside.

♕ "Collaborations?" Yeoreum ponders, biting her lip unsettingly. Immediately, a thought comes in her mind, and she smiles shyly. "Hmm... h-he's not really a singer, but... I would r-really like to try working again with Park B-Bogum sunbaenim." Her eyes brighten up in the thought of her senior. "I saw a video of him s-singing with Red Velvet's I-Irene sunbae, and I think I want to try with him." She tries to hide her wide smile.

what do you want to tell people who are anticipating your debut? : 

♕ "Uhh..." she awkwardly trails off. Yah, Seo Yeoreum, stop being so awkward and nervous! It's not even your first interview. She scolds herself internally. "Uhmm... I want to say thank y-you for always s-supporting me and loving me." Yeoreum attempts a small smile. "And that I'll t-try my best until t-the end." She finishes with an awkward beam.
