BACKGROUND + 
:: The Beginning :: Coming from a very performance and music-oriented family, Jangmi was performing as soon as she could walk. While her 2 older sisters and Jongin had been encouraged into the world of instruments and music, their parents urged Jangmi into dance. She started dancing ballet at the ripe age of 2 and started hip-hop later on at 4 years old. It was evident that hiphop and genres with a more boy-ish nature came easier to Jangmi then ballet did.

:: Keeping Up With The Kims :: The 4 Kim siblings often tagged along with their dad to work. When at her dad’s theatre, she would observe the actors and actresses during their scenes. From this, Jangmi learnt from a young age how to hide emotions and how to portray herself a certain way. Even from young age Jangmi got along with Jongin and his friends more she did with than her older sisters who liked to gossip about makeup, fashion and hot boys 24/7.

:: Stuck In The SM Basement with Johnny :: In 2005, both Jongin and Jangmi auditioned for SM Entertainment together but were told that while they displayed immense talent beyond their age, they were too young at the moment. So the siblings were encouraged to return 2 years. In 2007, at 10 years old, Jangmi returned side by side with her brother ready to tackle the eyes of 7 harsh judges scrutinising her once again. She performed a self-choreographed dance medley that she's highly embarassed by whenever it is brought up today 9 years later. Officially became a trainee signed under SM Entertainment in January 2007. As a trainee, Jangmi specialised in dance and focused on rap as her 2nd talent. Due to her tomboy nature, Jangmi found it a lot easier to befriend the male trainees as opposed to the females. After training in SM for more than 5 years, Jangmi left the company in March 2012 once she felt content with the level of skill that her dance has reached - she had learnt from every choreographer in the freaking building after all.

:: Sentenced To YG's Dungeon For 3 Years :: It was well-known that SM's rap game was lacking so in pursuit to improve her skills in that department, Jangmi auditioned for one of SM's top rivals; YG Entertainement. While she learnt a lot about dance at SM, all she got from there was how to rap decently well with a cuteness to it. Rearranging Becky G's Shower, Jangmi presented the YG judges with her SM-style rapping that frankly didn't match her personality. Seeing potential of fire-spitting and bad- vibes, the judges accepted her into the company in April 2012 at the age of 15. Learning from every possible rap expert on the premises, Jangmi learnt how to ditch her cute vibes and instead hone her fierce rhymes. Since YG's focus for her was rap, Jangmi began attending dance lessons at 1MLILLION Dance Studio to stay updated with her dance ability as of 2013. Once again, she left the company after she felt like she had learnt everything she needed in November 2015 after more than 3 years under their roof.

:: All Aboard The Starship To Debut :: You could say that Jangmi was a leech, only sticking around at companies when she needed something; from SM she learnt dance, rap at YG and now she had her sights on the vocals at Starship. Obviously it would make more sense to have auditioned for JYP, seeing as though her two previous homes were 2 out of 3 of Korea's biggest entertainment companies. However, with the 8 years that she spent under SM and YG, Jangmi grew acustomed to the company rivalry, thus she found the CEO; Park Jinyoung to be annoying. By this point, most companies in Korea new of the name Kim Jangmi - the travelling trainee so landing an audition with Starship wasn't difficult. Demonstating her accumulated skills in both rap and dance, Jangmi showed off with a self-composed and self-choreographed performance for her Starship audition. Joined the company in December 2015 after a short break.

TRAINEE LIFE + 
:: SM Entertainment ~ 2007-2012 :: Since the judges at her audition spoke very approvingly of Jangmi and Jongin, the other trainees had very high expectations for the two and their dance skills. Unfortunately, they didn’t meet those expectations; she completely exceeded them. Despite being being one of the younger trainees, Jangmi quickly moved up the ranks and gained a name for herself in SM. During her time there, Jangmi was closest Seulgi, Johnny, Taeyong, Taemin, Sehun and her dance mentor; Hyoyeon.

:: YG Entertainment ~ 2012-2015 :: She may not have been friends with everyone at SM but Jangmi had never met anyone that she was fully prepared to fight until she joined YG. Cue Kim Hanbin, also known as B.I of iKON - well back then, they were both trainees. Jangmi had come across a lot of people in SM who irritated her; what do you expect, she was in a company that valued visuals while she was a tomboy. But never had she met someone so annoying to the point where she wanted to punch him in the face whenever he opened his mouth. Closest to Jennie, Mino, Bobby and her rap mentors; G-Dragon and CL.

:: Starship Entertainment ~ 2015-current :: Known as the Travelling Trainee, the female trainees at Starship weren't too exactly welcoming towards Jangmi. Closest to Jooheon, #GUN and her vocal mentor; Hyorin. In comparison to the 5 years and 3 years spent at SM and YG, a training period of 1 year under Starship obviously implies that her vocals aren't at the high level of her dance and rap. At Starship, she learnt how to belt and hit high notes from Hyorin as will as keeping little tricks that she'd noticed at her dad's theatre in mind. Exy was used to being the most well-known female trainee at Starship so when Kai's little sister decided to board the Starship, she wasn't one bit happy. Upon inspection of Jangmi's years under each entertainment, Exy believed that Jangmi was over rated and everyone spoke too highly of her - 3 years at YG couldn't have possibly fixed her SM rap of 5 years could it? In an attempt to impress her long-term crush; Jooheon, Exy challenged Jangmi to a rap battle as soon as she walked through the her first day at Starship:

:: Training/Work Ethic :: It was a well-known fact throughout entertainment companies that despite only being a trainee, Jangmi was definitely one of the top performers that kpop has seen. Excelling in all 3 areas of vocal, rap and dance, trainees would fight each other just to end up in her group for monthly evaluations. She was an amazing performer who displayed strong leadership skills but damn did this girl have a temper. Being in Jangmi’s group meant putting in 110% of effort and be prepared to stay back late because being the perfectionist she is, she'd rather stab herself in the eye with a nail rather than perform something she isn’t happy with. She likes getting things done quickly and slow learners are her biggest pet peeve - either keep up, or get out. Isn’t afraid yell or be blunt when she’s the group leader “Taeyong oppa this is the 3rd time I’ve told you now. The spin only lasts for a third of a beat not half, get with it”, “Bobby oppa it's called fast rap for a reason - MY GRANDPA CAN SPIT RHYMES BETTER, LET'S GO!”, "For god's sake Minhyuk oppa, at least try not to look like you're scared of the girls when you dance with them". Really scary when she’s in the dance-zone and strives for perfection.

Despite trainees wanting to be in her group, this in no way meant that she was everyone's favourite person. Since being lead by Jangmi practically gaurunteed a high evaluation score everytime, that was the main reason why she was so popular during that time. Once evaluations ended, most trainees turn salty and try to diss Jangmi just to get quickly shut down by the Queen of Sass.

In Jangmi's mind, she had her close friends whom she actually tolerated and then there was everyone else who was irrelvant. She usually ignores everyone when she first joins a company and doesn't try making any friends. She tries to stick to her mission; get in, master the talent, then get out. But usually, she unintentionally makes a few friends along the way (has more male than female). To anyone who she isn't friends with, Jangmi will give the cold shoulder and mainly sharp glares since they just whisper about her brother and how she was probably only accepted into the company because of her visuals (gets the shock of their life when they see her perform). People just assume that Jangmi is just a snobbish stuck up 24/7.

Jangmi is a very dedicated trainee, waking up at 5:30 am every morning then returning to the dorms at 1 am every day just to get in extra practice hours. In class, she picked things up quickly and her hard-working behavior was often praised by trainers, although she was continuously nagged at by health teachers about the 'unhealthy' nutritional values of pizza. Pft as if that would stop her from stuffing her face.

Seems as though kpop news sites all ran out of things to report on since they decided to write about 3 YG trainees. A YG stan had seen Bobby, B.I and Jangmi hanging out together so she leaked the pictures (1) (2) and a video of them eating (3) to Dispatch. After concluding that a simple article about 3 kids mucking around with each other wasn't exciting enough, news sites dramatically labelled the trio as the next 'Twilight love triangle'. To be completely honest, the only reason that B.I and Jangmi weren't at each other's throats the entire day was because that day was Bobby's 18th birthday so being the complete idiot he is; the boy wished for his 2 best friends to get along for just one day.

» 2014: 'The YG love triangle resurfaces';
The article was written as follows: "Trouble in paradise? Yesterday night, a fan was able to capture an interesting scene which may disappoint shippers of B.J. B.I and Jangmi (Kai's little sister) seem to be arguing passionately over an unknown subject during the night near the YG building before Jangmi stormed off and locked herself in a car while B.I tried desperately to talk to Jangmi who was visibly upset (Source 1). Just a week before this argument, Jangmi was seen happily learning how to skate from Bobby (getting a little cozy while they were at it may I add) at the Han River, as seen in Source 2 and later they shared a cute selca where the couple looked very happy with each other's company. Hang on, BREAKING NEWS! It seems like the love triangle is becoming a love square? Jangmi was just spotted in another YG trainee; Junhoe's selca! So who would you choose if you were in Jangmi's shoes - the charismatic B.I, cute Bobby or mysterious Junhoe". Damn Koreaboo, back at it again with the ty articles. Literally everyone at YG snorted when they read the article because 1. Jangmi and B.I were fighting that night because he had eaten the last slice of pizza which was unoffically always hers, 2. Bobby and Jangmi were like siblings and nothing more, and finally 3. the only interaction that Jangmi ever had with Junhoe were their legendary sass battles.

Kim Jangmi is someone that doesn't simply just follows her dreams - she'll chase them. Being one of the longest trainees in the kpop industry, you can tell that she's driven and persistent in regards to her goals. As a strong believer that nobody's perfect, Jangmi pushes herself to train more than others do in a vain attempt to become flawless at all areas. Often spotted in the practice rooms at 5 in the morning, critiquing herself in the mirror as she goes over the same moves numerous times to master them. What makes her a good trainee is her ability to pick things up very quickly - able to memorise the lyrics and melody of a song or rap by listening to it once over while a dance routine can be learnt by rewatching it a maximum of 5 times. Jangmi holds her head high and rarely lets the opinions of others bring her down. Whether onstage or while walking down the corridors of Starship, Jangmi presents herself as a strong, bold figure. She is confident and believes that she has every right to be - she's talented, pretty (she knows that she's pretty but her tomboy side wouldn't care even if she wasn't), hard working and deserving. She's one of the most accomplished trainees out there and is close to a lot of idols. It is unknown as to whether Jangmi learnt during her years as a trainee or whether they come naturally to her but aswell as excelling as a performer, Jangmi enjoys participating in the production of choreography, lyrics and song composition.

As mentioned before, Jangmi strives to be at the top no matter what it is (excluding whose the smelliest). Rarely satisfied with her achievements - is that annoying kid in class that sulks after getting 99 out of 100 in a test. Even when she's not yelling the beats of a song while dancing "5, 6...5, 6, 7, 8", Jangmi can me heard from 2 floors above. It could be her obnoxious laugh, a casual conversation, or even her so-called whisper, but everyone in every company that she's been in has grown accustomed to Jangmi's voice to the point where they're able to identify the time that she arrived based on a morning greeting - "I'd say good morning but I'd be lying so, bad morning everyone!". From a young age, Jangmi along with her older siblings would often visit their father's theatre. There, Jangmi would observe the actors/actresses and their actions, thus she learnt how to lie and keep a straight face. Over the years, she perfected this skill which proves to come in handy in various situations. Her naturally sassy responses can create a fun and humorous atmosphere but at times, her sharp tongue may end up hurting someone.

If there's one word to describe Jangmi, it's 'competitive'. Maybe that's why she clashed with B.I as soon as they met on her first day at YG - since the charismatic leader also shared this intense trait (although she likes to justify her actions by claiming that the boy just manages to look naturally punchable in the face). She doesn't lose...Jangmi just doesn't do it, it's practically unheard of. From who recieves the highest monthly evaluation score to who can tie their shoelaces the quickest, Jangmi always seems to win and it's no surprise to everyone either. Much like she is overly competitive, Jangmi is also very stubborn. Once her mind is firmly made up, there's no changing it. If Jangmi wants ice cream in winter, she'll get it, trust me. At times it's subconscious while at other times it's intentional - patronising others. Jangmi has been at it for almost 10 years now, she knows every trick in the trainee book. On top of that, Jangmi has managed to master all 3 talents that make up a kpop idol so sometimes, she acts superior to others forgetting to be empathetic and understanding. Boy does this girl have a temper! Even a small thing like taking a bit longer to take a photo because the camera was laggy or something irritates her. Watch your back if you happen to be using the locker under Jangmi's in the trainee locker room - she'll start raging if you've been there for longer than 6 minutes. Hand in hand with her impatience and stubborness, Jangmi also acts on impulse and voices her opinions which gets her into arguments with others sometimes.

Positive: Due to his past experiences on No. Mercy, I.M has learnt to value his morals and stay true to himself. This is the main reason why he believes that Jangmi can be a better person; he doesn't like it when she doesn't show or fakes her emotions. He works hard at what he does and is able to transition to new environments easily. He is a very chill and relaxed person, never seen in a heated argument with anyone before. 

Neutral: His weird and questionable antics have lead to fans dubbing him as the 4D member in Monsta X. This isn't a camera personality, this kid is literally as weird as the camera portays him to be. I.M has a charm to him that can make Jangmi flustered which is an acheivement within itself. He could simply be standing casually while making eye contact with Jangmi and she'd only from that, start feel to feel her heart pulse half a beat faster. But what really gets Jangmi discomposed is whenever I.M smirks - whether it be intentional or not. Jangmi's hair habit has the same effect on I.M which the pair are highly aware of. Thus, they can be seen constantly smirking or running their hand through their hair just to unnerve the other. Unlike the majority of everyone that Jangmi has met, I.M didn't allow Jangmi's family history or predebut works to influence his view on her. He saw her as Kim Jangmi instead of Kai's little sister. The fact that he acted umimpressed by her, irked Jangmi even more - why wasn't this boy showering her in attention and praises on the first day like everyone did?

Negative: Much like Jangmi, I.M won't budge once his decision has been made. It doesn't what you do or who you are, he simply won't change his mind. Although fans have labelled him as the 'most mature in Monsta X', I.M has his moments where he shows his inner child - poking Jangmi for a reaction, pouting when he doesn't get what he wants for dinner, mucking around on set of a music video etc. His hobbies include: annoying Jangmi, annoying Jangmi, oh and guess what? Annoying Jangmi! I.M thinks that Jangmi is too pretentious and absorbed into her work for some one her age. Although he admires her hard-working and perfectionist traits, I.M wants to help Jangmi live a little and take a break from practicing one in  a while.

RELATIONSHIP/INTERACTIONS + One of those superrrrrrrr annoying pairs where everyone around them knows that they like each other yet the two still deny it. These two have a mutual friends/co-rap lyricist/annoy the hell out of the other relationship. The other people in the room claim to feel a ton of in the air whenever Jangmi and I.M are in the same room. Lots of complicated interactions; one minute I.M could be pinning her against the wall while the next he'd be telling her how the flannel that she's wearing really brings out the ugly in her face. On the other end of the spectrum, Jangmi could be intentionally making eye contact with I.M while running her hand through her hair, but then the next, she'd be kicking him in the shins before storming away from one of their arguments.

HISTORY + During of her first week at Starship, Jooheon had called Jangmi into a studio to help him and one of write/compose a rap mixtape. Within the first second of setting eyes on I.M's face, Jangmi instantly turned to Jooheon and flat out said "I'm not helping you anymore". When questioned why, she merely pointed towards a very confused I.M before replying "because of him - I don't know who he is but he looks like B.I. So no". After a mass aegyo attack by Jooheon, Jangmi finally gave into helping the pair just to stop the cute horror. The more she worked with I.M, the more she found his to resemble B.I which freaked her out. And the more he worked with Jangmi, the more I.M was intrigued by this new trainee that everyone was talking about. After that, they'd see each other frequently because of Jooheon or when passing in the hallways but would never go to find each other even when they wanted to, thinking of their ego first.

ENDING + One of them finally gets the guts to blurt of their feelings (your choice):
- Jangmi: during a song writing session where they're writing songs about ideal types and I.M keeps bugging her to see her lyrics so she just blurts "look in the mirror".
- I.M: walks in on Jangmi practicing at 3 am again so he pulls her unecessarily close to his chest and says "what did I tell you about staying up late?" before kissing her or something IDK THE FEELS ARE TOO MUCH I'LL JUST STOP NOW.
