That's it that's all the languages he knows he's terrible at languages and has failed many an English class in secondary school.

APPEARANCE To say that Geunji isn't the prettiest of idols is an understatement. It's quite obvious that he's not here because of his looks. He's got none of those qualities that Korea likes so much, he doesn't even have double eyelids, and even with makeup he looks alright at best.

Body-wise he's fit, dancing will do that to you, but he's not especially toned. He hates going to the gym so his mucles are all lean and understated, none of that sculpted nonsense for Geunji. He's also rather short, another undesirable trait, and sometimes wears insoles to compensate for it.

STYLE Geunji tends to wear fairly typical hip hop clothes. He likes his worn jeans and sweaters and he absolutely loves snapbacks. Geunji is rarely seen without a snapback unless a stylist was involved, and even then you bet he's going to nag and complain if he's not allowed to wear one. Most of it is lazyness honestly, Geunji doesn't really know how to take care of his own looks very well and wearing a snapback means not having to take care of his hair.

PERSONALITY

Insensitive, defensive, insecure, and stubborn  -  Geunji has a talent for offending everyone in the room in under 15 minutes. The kid is a tragic case of foot-in-mouth syndrome, he says exactly the wrong thing and then when that's pointed out he tends to get very defensive. Honestly besides the fact that Geunji was the reason a well-liked dancer was kicked out of the group in favour of him, is it any wonder that the other guys don't really like him? Geunji is fine as long as things go his way, but the situation he found himself in wasn't exactly goinging his way, and as soon as the others brushed him off Geunji turned into a cornered animal, lashing to everyone even those who might not be giving him any . 

On top of that Geunji feels like he always has to stay strong and be manly. Even when he feels like , ie. when the others are excluding him, he cannot let it show that he feels like since that would be admitting weakness.  Geunji will stubbornly keep his head high and pretend it doesn't get to him, which then makes it seem like he thinks that he's better than them, digging him an even bigger hole. Then in that proverbial hole he's dug he will sulk on his own and lash out at even those who try to help him. While Geunji pretends to stay strong and square his shoulders, in the face of bullying, or any kind of criticism really, he just kind of deflates on himself, losing any kind of puppy-like charm he possessed previously.

 

Really this whole situation is in a big part his own fault, if he hadn't reacted so badly at the cold shoulders in the first place it all might have been over by now but he just widened the chasm with his behaviour and look where that got him. Really though, all of this is rooted in Geunji's significant amount of insecurities. He's scared of not fitting in, he's scared of looking weak, he's scared of not having any friends or being alone. These insecurities have gotten him into a lot of trouble before, and they've also caused him to fall in with bad people in his past. He's justa followed through and through.

 

One of his biggest insecurities is his masculinity. Growing up surrounded by women, Geunji never really had a good masculine rolemodel growing up. Now for many people that is totally fine, but Geunji was always prone to insecurities and bullying and it resulted in a kid who is terrified of not being masculine enough. He always feels the need to let everyone know he's a real man and he'll make a fuss about doing fanservice things like crossdressing or the kissing game cause that's not manly and thus it is gross and he doesn't want to do it. 

 

Earnest, dense, and honestly just kind of dumb - Geunji is very sincere, he doesn't present himself as different than he is. In a way in his line of work this isn't really a good thing, Geunji doesn't really have an idol persona to speak of, he couldn't even if he tried, but it does give him this earnest charm. While some of the he says is really dumb, one can at least be sure that it's always him, and not a front. Even when he tries to put up a brave face and pretend things don't hurt him, when you get to know Geunji it's really not hard to see right through him. This guy doesn't have an acting bone in his body.

 

Geunji is also rather dumb. He can be oblivious to many things and is just not very intelligent overall. He makes stupid comments and then he gets damned stubborn about it. He's the kind of person who doesn't concede he's wrong even when proven otherwise, not in the moment at least. When an argument has died down he can admit that he was wrong, but in the moment he's much too stubborn to concede defeat.

 

 

Talkative, extroverted, energetic, and dumb - Geunji is naturally a bright and talkative guy. He loves talking, he probably loves talking a bit too much. Engage him about dancing or the games he's been into lately and he will talk your ear off honestly. He's pretty good in social situations as long as people are treating him well and thus not triggering that terrible defensive streak of his. 

 

He's also just not very smart. Some of the things that come out of his mouth can have you do a double take like did he really just say that? Did that kid really just ask if diet pills are called that because they're low calorie?? But he's generally fairly goodnatured about it and laughs it off (unless someone is purposely being mean to him about it). 
 

 

Prone to mood swings - At his best Geunji is a bit like a puppy, really. He's bright, talkative, sometimes a little bit too energetic for people to deal with, but generally likeable enough. It's just that he can instantly go from the best of him to the worst of him. Geunji's mood basically dictates his everything, he's an open book. Is he happy? Is he sad? Is he deflated? Is he angry? Whatever it is, it will be plain as day for everyone to say and prone to change at a moment's notice. 

 

 

Passionate - There's a lot that can be said about this kid, and honestly I'm typing this all up and it is a lot, but you definitely have to admit that he's passionate about what he does. Geunji loves dancing, he loves choreographing, he loves seeing others execute the moves that he's come up with and see it all come together, and he loves being on stage. He can do without the crazy fans and the privacy invasion but if that's what he has to put up with to stand on that stage and shine, well, it's worth it. Above all things Geunji wants to perform and so he'll put up with awful schedules, creepy fans, and bullying. In the end all of it is still his gateway to that stage and he'll make all these decisions again if he had to. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BACKGROUND
 

Geunji is from a fairly standard lower middle class household. They were never rich, but they got by. He grew up with 2 older sisters and a dad who had a demanding job and wasn't home very often, so for the most part he was always surrounded by women. Geunji is intimitely familiar with living with women, he's past the point of getting grossed out about anything periods or women's bodies. Unfortunately he might have been a bit too quick in pointing that out in elementary school and he ended up getting bullied for being too girly which quickly cemented Geunji's insecurities.

 

The bullying continued onward throughout school. Mind you, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, it was mostly verbal and exclusion based, but it messed little Geunji up pretty good. He ended up with a need of being involved, of being with the cool kids. His parents put him on dance classes to give him something to do and hopefully get him some like-minded friends and he really loved it. The kids in the dance class didn't know him so it was a clean start and he managed to get some friends. 

 

He decided to try and become an idol because dancing was the only time he felt free and alive and the loved standing on stage for show cases. He tried to get into JYPE first when he was 15 and to his surprise he got accepted. He changed schools to SOPA and got another new start, this time determined to not become an outside. With his need to belong and be one of the cool guys, Geunji found himself getting involved with the wrong crowd and so the bullied found himself involved in a crowd of bullies. They weren't the worst around, but they were a group of and they did extort younger and more vulnerable kids for money. It was a group you watched out for if you didn't want any trouble. They didn't mind the fact that Geunji can offend anyone in under a minute, in fact they enjoyed egging him on and seeing how fast he could offend whoever he was talking to. He didn't really want to be an but being the follower he is he just kind of fell into step and he was so  thirsty of approval he did some things he's not proud of.

 

He was training fo 4 years when Got7 was being formed, and he was actually considered for the lineup and trained with the others for a while. Then word got out that he was in the lineup by one of those trainee blogs and someone from SOPA exposed him as an iljin and that was that for his prospects. It was a scandal and he was unceremoniously dropped from the project. Geunji, then 19 he didn't want to give up on his dream of standing on stage, so he kept looking and he ended up at Cube. Here is where he got his first taste of choreographing and started taking his dancing to the next level. He managed to make some friends here and there but he never quite meshed with the Pentagon guys, and Cube does really care about team dynamics, so he wasn't even considered for the group. At Cube he was pretty close to the dance trainer there. Honestly the guy mid-key felt bad for Geunji since he recognized his talents but knew he wasn't going anywhere. The trainer, Hyunjin, was also affiliated with Big Hit and he knew that Big Hit was putting together a new boy group and was especially looking for kids who could create. Being the dance teacher he knew that Big Hit was lacking a trainee who could really choreograph, they had one in the group who was alright at it, but nothing on Geunji's level. 

 

And that's how it came to be that Geunji was pulled into the group late and the other dancer was dropped in favour of him. Being an obvious replacement of the previous guy who seemed to have been a pretty likeable and chill dude, and also having a personality more prickly than a cactus, well, one can see how it all went wrong.

 

 

 

 

 

LIKES 

  Food. Geunji ships himself with food. Any and all food, but especially spicy food. If his mouth isn't burning he's not doing it right. He's the kind of guy who adds hot sauce to a sandwich just because he can.

  Coffee. Coffee fuels Geunji. Coffee is what keeps him going at 2AM when he's trying to perfect that choreo.

  Girl group dances, but it's more of a shameful like. He has a hard time admitting that he loves to do girl group dances, but he does.

  Snapbacks, great for when you're too lazy to do your hair. He's got a whole bunch of them at the dorm, taking up a good chunk of his closet space and also literring his living area.

  1Million dance study. The kid fanboys hard, especially over Lia Kim. Also he totally has a crush on both her and Bongyoung Park but he will deny it to the grave. 

 

DISLIKES 

  Diets. Low fat food is low flavour food man. Weak. 

  People thinking he's weak.

  Excersizing, especially doing weights. It's just so boring. 

   Non-spicy food. What is this basic trash? Hang on he's grabbing the hot sauce-

  Water, he doesn't know how to swim you see but he will also deny that as long as he can, afraid people will make fun of him for it. 

 

HOBBIES 

  Dancing, obviously. It's his thing. Dancing is in Geunji's blood. Hip hop is his usual style, lyrical being his specialty, but he also knows tutting and pooping. And walz, but he won't be telling anyone about that anytime soon.

  Choreographing. While Geunji is also adept at freestyle, nothing makes him happier than choreographing a dance and seeing it performed by others, it just fills him with so much pride. 

 Beatboxing, he's not super good at it but he tries and he thinks it makes him look cool.... 

 

HABITS 

 He's really messy. Geunji tends to just leave things around his living space. Snapbacks on his nightstand and hanging from the bed frame, his pjs draped half on his bed half on the floor, last night's illegal late night snack wrappers under the bed never to be seen again. He's a slob.

 This kid cannot sit still for the life of him, he's always moving. Geunji fidgets like nobody's business.

  If there's music on Geunji is moving to it. Sometimes he can keep it to just tapping a foot or a finger to the beat, but most of the time he ends up low key dancing or just tutting, doing something to express himself. 

  Grinning like an idiot whenever others are dancing his choreo and actually doing it right. He can be quite strict when people are doing it wrong, he's got no mercy and can be terribly nitpicky, but when they're dancing it right hes a proud dad man. 

 

TRIVIA 

 When doing group choreos Geunji really likes to work with formations and combine smooth with sharp movements.

 The only time he doesn't have insecurities is while dancing. He knows what he's about, son. When he's teaching a choreo he's all business and while there's still a dumb comment here and there, for the most part he can keep it together. Then afterwards he goes right back to the mess he really is. 

   He trained with most of the Got7 guys but they didn't really like him (even then he was always saying the wrong things). If it was up to him he'd avoid them forever.

  He also trained with some of the Pentagon guys, same story.

  He knows how to walz but good luck getting that out of him and better luck getting him to show you.

  He's biual but his head is so deep in the sand about it, it comes up in Brazil. He staunchly denies being attracted to men and will be obnoxiously hetero to cover it up like "look at those girl's nice //shift eyes"

  He's got the worst skin of them all because what is skincaare and how even??

  He always carries some tampons in his bag just in case. A habit he picked up from growing up surrounded by women. He'll get very defensive if anyone comments about it too.

   He dropped out of secondary school when he failed his penultimate year.

 

FAMILY & FRIENDS

Miryeon was always at home raising the kids and Geunji is very close with her. He's a total momma's boy it's kind of emberassing, but he'll deny it at every turn if asked. He often stays in contact and messages her and lets her know how he's doing. Of course most of the time he lies about it, he can't lie face to face but over messages it works and he doesn't want to worry her about how he's doing. As far as she knows he's doing fine and they all get along.

Working as a mechanic on an oil rig, Jinhyuk was usually gone weeks at a time before spending a few days at home and going back to the rig. Geunji is a little akward wtih him since Jinhyuk never spent much time at home.

Geunji is fairly close to his sisters. They talk occasionally and keep tabs on what he's doing and can both be pretty protective of their little brother. Jangyeon in particular has offered multiple times to destroy anyone who's mean to him, having a black belt in taekwondo, though Geunji would be far too emberassed to have a girl defending him. That's totally not masculine bro.
 

° [ Kwon Hyunjin ] basically only friend-ish? / 28 / dance instructor /
Hyunjin is a dance instructor for both Cube and Big Hit, mainly working with trainees. He has a soft spot for Geunji who is a fantastic dancer but not really a people's person. He's seen Geunji by himself countless of times in the danceroom working on a routine because nobody else wanted to hang out with him. Hyunjin is big on the tough love, always giving Geunji when he's sulking or not participating enough or for any reason at all, but he does have a soft spot for the kid.
 

° [ Kim Kwangbin] best frenemy / 22 / student /
The leader of Geunji's old bully group back at SOPA. Kwangbin is far too charming and clever for his own good, and far too selfish for everyone else's. Always good at spotting on opportunnity, Kwangbin knew he could exploit Geunji's insecurities the moment he saw him, and he knows there must be something to exploit in Geunji's idol career as soon as he debuts. They've stayed in contact even after high school and still often hang out, which is mostly Kwangbin egging Geunji on and making him pay for the food. Geunji thinks Kwangbin is his friend, but he doesn't get why he usually feels like whenever he's hung out with him. Kwangbin has perfected the art of targeting one's insecurities and oh boy is Geunji an easy target. Often making fun of the idol life and wearing makeup and doing 'girly' things and just generally making Geunji's insecurities worse than they were before. Thanks Kwangbin, always useful to have around.
 

° [ Lee Gihyun ] sorry I took your spot m8 / 24 / trainee? /
Gihyun is the dancer whose spot Geunji took and who was then dismissed along with the other trainees Big Hit couldn't support anymore. Gihyun had been at Big Hit for ages, having joined the company a few months after BTS' debut, and he was the resident big bro figure around, mostly people liked him and everyone assumed he'd debut. Unfortunately his only real skill was in dancing and while he was a great dancer, he struggled with choreography. Geunji is just as good a dancer as Gihyun but he's got his added skill in dancing and decent skill  in rapping and singing to back him up, Geunji was the obvious choice. This didn't stop most people from feeling all of it was very unfair to Gihyun though, and this is the main reason not many people like Geunji, at least initially before he backed it up with the ty parts of his personality. It's understandable that Gihyun is none to fond of Geunji, and Geunji is just pretty awkward around Gihyun and tends to be even more insensitive than usual because Gihyun makes him really nervous. Not a good combo together.

 

   

PERSONA [ The dancer with the mouth  ]  Geunji doesn't have a stage persona, he doesn't even know how. Geunji and acting just do not go together. He can be pretty controvertial, he's the kind of guy who'd say stupid on TV and interviews all the time and as much as the company coaches him he just cannot help himself. I definitely see him getting into a scandal for being stupid (much like AOA) or for offending  anyone around him.

TRAINEE YEARS & EXPERIENCE [  7 years overall, 4 at JYP, 3 at Cube, and like a week at Big Hit ] 

 Geunji loved the performance aspect of training. He really liked learning how to rap and sing and getting opportunities to learn how to choreograph dances for multiple people. The people bit though he wasn't so good at. He hardly ever made any friends, not real ones anyway, and most people tended to avoid him because of the way he runs his mouth. Really who can blame them? Geunji can say some ty and offensive things on a good day. 

  He did some choreographing for show cases as well as some street performances, and assisted Hyunjin in teaching a bunch of times but he's got no entertainment experience.

COMMENTS/QUESTIONS  Oh man this guy kind of ran away from me there xD I was thinking how this divide between him and the others could come to be and had two different ideas, replacing a well loved trainee and just being a defensife weenie who digs himselfs holes he cannot possibly climb out of and then, well, I figured why not both? xD

Oh and feel free to change anything in how he gets to Big Hit to fit the story, I was just going on what I gathred of the story from the prologue but I mean I could very well be way off.

Oh also did you know you're using the Skyrim logo for Black Dragon? Every time I see it I'm like what Skyrim- oh right they're just using the logo xD

SCENE REQUESTS  
- The way it's set up how he joins basically at the last minute you could even have him come in when the story starts and show how others react to Gihyun's replacement?

- The first time he choreographs and teaching the choreo to the others and going from the normal awkward foot-in-mouth Geunji to serious business dance Geunji xD While he's still blunt and insensitive when he's in dance mode, he does also focus completely and become somewhat professional.
