PERSONALITY :　

Sarcastic, judgmental, mean, and fair : Myunghwan has a comeback for everything, but the chances are you're not gonna like it. He usually has shade and sarcasm down to an artform, especially delivered in such a way that is seemingly apathetic and with as little effort as possible. Mind you he doesn't go around looking for fights, but he's the kid sitting in the corner sipping a milkshake, judging everyone and responding to everything with negativity or shade. 

It's worth noting that even in front of the camera he remains deadpan and sarcastic. He doesn't have the drive for any kind of self-moderation or image and couldn't really care less about incurring the wrath of the netizens. He doesn't argue back and forth, ever. He brings things up but then doesn't care enough to actually go into it.

Still, as ty as he usually is, he's also the guy who's got his team's back if someone is being ty to them because the only one who's allowed to be a to his group members is HIM and you'd do well to remember it.

Honestly -and he'll deny this to the grave- Myunghwan is a better person than he pretends to be, he just tries to ignore the good person within himself as much as possible. His shade is usually reserved for those who are being to others or who've got an ego so big they should be taken down a notch, or otherwise those he knows can handle it. Myunghwan never picks on those he thinks can't handle it and he tends to stand up for those who are bullied in his own seemingly apathetic way. He's not infallible though he does mess up and needle the wrong person too much and can really hurt them but he'll just shrug and sip his drink cause that's not his problem. 

 

Cool, lazy, and composed : it's basically impossible to get a rise out if Myunghwan,  he interacts with the world ar arms length, using his constant veneer of cynicism and apathy as a way to distance himself. It's what he used to get through living with his parents without going crazy and he's just never really stopped. This distance makes him good at unexpected situations, I mean if the building caught fire he'd probably sigh at the annoyance of it all, roll his eyes at the inconvenience,  and calmly exit the building. He's good to have in a crisis. Also in things like ty interviews going south or sound systems not working or accidents on stage, all of this wouldn't really phase him but he also wouldn't react in the way the comapny would probably like. Like if someone fainted on stage Myunghwan would just stop performing and help the guy off stage because ugh who cares about professionalism they can all it the group member is more important, but he'd keep up the sarcasm cause they can't start thinking he's a good person now can they? If asked he'd just be like eh any excuse to get out of work.

Honestly the air Myunghwan surrounds himself with is one of laziness and boredom. He won't do work if he doesn't have to and most of the time it looks like he's just bored of everything going on around him. He has this air of never putting any effort into anything,  even his sass seems to only take the barest necessary level of effort. Much of this is real, a lot of the time Myunghwan really can't be assed to do much, but some of it is a façade to keep people at arm's length. For example Myunghwan does enjoy singing and dancing but he doesn't let it show because it's easier to just stay detached and be known as the lazy one who doesn't do . As it stands he does practice when the others ask it of him but he'll stop whenever there's an opportunity. He doesn't grumble about it (that costs effort) but he'll just take an out whenever possible. 

 

Openminded and fair-ish : though probably not in the way you're imagining. Myunghwan believes in equal opportunity shade.  He's fair because he generally treats everyone the same. ty. But equally ty. When push comes to shove he's quite open minded in terms of social issues. Myunghwan throws shade at personalities not stereotypes, thank you. He doesn't care about orientation or your gender or whatever.  That's not the kind of he is. He 100% judges everyone around him but he judges them on their ty choices and personalities,  not the things they can't do anything about.

He also hates unfair treatment of anyone involved. Unfair treatment that isn't his unfair treatment of course. He can't stand seeing people treated unfairly and will come to their aid even if they were his sword enemy. Of course Myunghwan can't really do much except be a to the ones responsible but you better believe that Myunghwan's shade can put y Kdrama antagonists to shame. Don't count his kind of help out, he's had a lot of practice. Also don't imagine he'll be jumping in like a knight in shining armour I mean this is still Myunghwan we're talking about, he does nothing that looks like it took effort and he'll deny coming to anyone's help. He was just coming around the corner and that guy had it coming but he def didn't do it to help you.

 

Irresponsible and lazy : Myunghwan hates doing work. He'd much rather just stay home and play video games than do dance practice, or sit in his corner sipping his milkshake being a to everyone. It can honestly be a chore getting his in gear. He's damned sneaky about it too, he never loudly complains about practice he just slinks off whenever nobody's paying attention to him, slinks right back onto his windowsill and stays quiet until an opportunity for shade comes his way. He can never quite pass up an opportunity for shade.

Honestly most of his laziness comes from the fact that he's just not ambitious at all.  He never exactly wanted to become an idol, he just needed a place to syay that wasn't his sister's because she wasn't managing (though if you ask him he'll say he did it because his sister forced him to). He's just floundering through life doing his thing and being a and isn't really inclined to work his off for anyone. He also doesn't acknowledge responsibility for anything. Myunghwan avoids responsibilities like the plague, he's totally content with having two lines in the background and nothing more.  This is probably why nobody ever knew he has a good voice until his sister kicked his . He doesn't put any real effort into singing so you'd never know that he actually has quite a bit of vocal training via his sister and is really quite good. 

 

Inconsiderate, honest, and insolent : Myunghwan doesn't care about anyone's opinions. He also doesn't care if you have seniority or if you're his boss or if you're 80 years old, everyone gets the same shade and he listens to nobody. He kind of sort of listens to the leader sometimes but he never does it without a sarcastic comments because you can't just surrender peacefully that would be weak.  In fact he takes special pleasure in pissing off leaders and sunbaes because they often have this air of superiority and Myunghwan just loves tearing that down, even if it's an unintentional air of superiority it's still gonna piss him off so he's still gonna be a little about it.

Also he's honest with himself he's also honest with everyone else. Myunghwan doesn't lie very often,  he doesn't need to lie to throw shade. Lying is for amateurs,  there's plenty of ammunition in the truth. But being a pessimist his honest thoughts are almost always negative anyway so I mean I'm not sure how positive this trait is. 

 

Pessimist with some serious self-worth issues : I'm not sure if this requires saying at this point but Myunghwan is quite the negative lil guy and oh how he loves raining on people's parades. He's basically just looking to draw anyone down into pessimism with him. He doesn't even pretend to be a realist like most pessimists, he's honest with himself. He knows he's a vindictive little and doesn't pretend otherwise. If called out on it he'll just shrug and be like "yeah, and?". But that also comes from the fact that he's got quite a low sense of self-worth, something he got as a present from his parents. Hear that you're a useless good-for-nothing all the time and you start to believe it you know? Myunghwan has fully embraced the fact that he's a useless good-for-nothing, but he does think of himself that way. He feels like he's useless and dragging the team down but he doesn't have the motivation or drive to change that or to change the way he sees himself, and honestly with the way he presents himself to the world everyone else doesn't exactly see him any different than a bothersome little either so that doesn't help.

Honestly when people start finding out he can sing and he gets more lines,  that alone would be the start of some healing for Myunghwan because, as scary as the responsibility of more lines is, people actually start to see him as more than a talentless black hole with a pretty face and ty personality. That and the fact that slowly it should become evident that, even though he denies it at every turn, he's really a good person deep deep inside should help him get his life back on track. But he's got a ways to go before that.

 

BACKGROUND :　

Myunghwan's family situation is... a mess to say the least. His parents are extremely conservative, his father being a pastor and his mother a very devout housewife, honestly it can't get more wholesome than that. From the outside, anyway. His parents were always obsessed with saving face and appearing a perfect family. Myunghwan was always the black sheep of the family, never able to stop making trouble, and his older sister Myunghwa was the angel. She did everything right, she was highly talented at her piano lessons and her vocal lessons and her schoolwork. Myunghwan, who was quite a bit younger than her, was expected to be just as good at everything but Myunghwan never liked doing what anybody wanted him to do. He slacked off at his vocal lessons, shirked his piano lessons, and skipped so many classes at school that he would have been expelled were it not for his dad's influence in the community. 

The only thing that actually interested Myunghwan was contemporary dance, and he wasn't even supposed to get lessons. Myunghwa got lessons and one day when they were picking her up and watching the last few minutes of her practice Myunghwan was intrigued and nagged until he got them. This was when he was 5 and still generally cares about things, and he kept caring about dance in particular, even if when he got older he wouldn't show people that he cared.

Myunghwan didn't actually have a bad relationship with his sister even though you might think he would. They got along really well, they were very different but united in complaining about their parents, and she'd often help him with his vocal and piano skills before a recital because their parents were always furious if he messed up or missed them, moreso than usual. Myunghwa was the only one who was always on his side.

Then everything changed when, when Myunghwan was 12 and Myunghwa was 22, his sister got pregnant even though their family hadn't even know she had a boyfriend. Whoops. Myunghwa was prompty thrown out and made to make her own way, she'd disgraced the family and was disowned. Myunghwan begged her to take him with her but honestly she was already at a loss about how to raise this baby, she didn't really need the responsibility of raising her baby brother too so she left without him.

Everything was worse now. Myunghwan really missed his sister and his parents were harsher with him now that they no longer had their little angel to brag to the neighbours about. In turn Myunghwan was always in a foul mood and rebelled at every opportunity and shirked all of his reponsibilities. To make matters worse his parents pretended that Myunghwa went to the city to study and totally denied Myunghwa's disgraceful pregnancy. Honestly he would have run away much sooner had he known where Myunghwa lived. He was 16 when he totally accidentally came across her online. A classmate was checking out entertainment companies because she wanted to audition and they were checking out the staff and she recognized the name of one of the vocal trainers and was like "hey Myunghwan isn't that your sister?" That moment changed everyhing for him. He packed a single suitcase with his stuff and left for Seoul.

After an excruciatingly long train ride he ended up in Seoul and went straight for Yunrae. He ended up waiting for her in the lobby and demanding to see her. He didn't tell the receptionist who he was so that when Myunghwa came downstairs she had the surprise of her life. There was her little brother with a scowl and a suitcase and he announced that he was now going to live with her. To say she was taken aback was an understatement. But, as Myunghwan readily pointed out, she owed him for leaving him alone in the hellhole for 4 long years. He fell in love with Sarang on first sight, his little niece was a delight and he pronounced her his favourite person in the world after about a week of living with them. Myunghwan is really great with his little niece, as he is with most children, he's gentle and patient and sweet with her.

As much as Myunghwa wanted to take care of him, she was struggling to get by while providing for all three of them. Her salary wasn't the worst, but it wasn't anything to write home about and certainly not something to singlehandedly support three people in a Seoul apartment with. Myunghwan saw that she was struggling even though she tried very much not to show him. So Myunghwan, in his very Myunghwan way, told Myunghwa that he wanted her to get him into Yunrae. He made a big deal about might as well since he had the connections and it'd be a decent enough path, but really he was doing it because he knew as a trainee the company would support him and house him and pay for it and then a load would be lifted off of Myunghwa. He didn't really care about idol life at all it was just to help his sister. But he'd be damned if he'd let her know that.

 

LIKES :

▸ Video games. A lot. Like too much. His favourites are Borderlands and currently Overwatch (surprisingly he mostly plays support or sniper). He´s really good at it too, he could probably play competitively if he had any drive whatsoever. 

▸ Milk. Any kind of milk. Banana milk, milk shakes,  2% milk, skimmed milk in a pinch. Milk brings all the Myunghwan to the yard. As long as it's not fake milk. Looking at you soy milk you disgust him.

▸ He's also a fan of creamy iced cappuccinos cause you know it's coffee with lots of milk.

▸ Being taller than others.

▸ Children, he loves kids so much and is really good with them too.

▸ Singing and dancing, but he'll never admit it to Myunghwa.

 

DISLIKES :

▸ Those taller than him. He's already quite tall, anything more is just excessive. 

▸ Religious people,  he got more than enough of that from his parents thank you. He'll roll his eyes at any serious mention of God or religion in general.

▸ People who nag (looking at you Myunghwa)

▸ His bangs down. Given the right amoung of energy he might find it within himself to argue with the stylist.

▸ Liars, especially those who lie to save face. With his parents you might understand where this came from.

HOBBIES :

▸ Sass and shade, it's basically all the hobby he can be assed to have.

▸ People watching, it takes zero effort and you can low key mock those you see. Perf.

▸ Besides gaming of course. 

HABITS :

▸ Slurping a drink with a straw obnoxiously loud on purpose, especially if he feels ignored.

▸ He doesn't laugh a lot but he snort like nobody's business. Not a cute giggle-snort, but the sarcastic lol someone just got roasted kind of snort.

▸ Just shrugs and goes back to whatever he's doing when he can't be assed to answer someone's question or when he feels he's done with a conversation.

 

TRIVIA :

▸ he was born on friday the 13th. That was probably a warning.

▸ He used to practice contemporary and still knows some of it. Good luck getting that out of him though, as far as anyone at Yunrae knows he's never had any formal training at all. He also knows how to Walz and same story. It's not exactly that he's ashamed of it, at least of his contemporary skills he's proud-ish, he practiced it for 11 years and was fairly good before he quit when he went to Seoul to find Myunghwa. It's more that he doesn't want to go through the hassle of getting singled out for it and getting attention over it. He's content being thought of as a talentless black hole.

▸ He's very flexible due to his contemporary dance days.

▸ He wouldn't last three seconds in a fight, he's a weakling. At least he doesn't pretend otherwise either,  if anyone threatened to fight him he'd just jab at them for being a neanderthal solving everything with their fists.

▸ There are rumours around Yunrae that Myunghwan has permanent lost his ability to smile.

▸ He does smile during performances but only when it's absolutely necessary.

▸ Nobody really knows where he gets his drinks from. Sometimes you just don't pay attention to him for a while and then you hear it- the obnoxious sound of slurping.

▸ He likes sitting in window-sills the most. He can just stare outside when he's bored and people-watch..

▸ He's got the shade button app on his phone but only uses it when another member makes a failed attempt at shade. His own shade needs no button.

▸ When he was a trainee Myunghwan spent half his time at his sister's place to babysit Sarang. After he's moved to the special project dorm he won't really be able to do that anymore though sometimes he brings Sarang over to the dorm when they don't have a schedule and Myunghwa has things to do. He does his 100% because he really misses Sarang.

▸ He's variety hit or miss depending on the show and who hosts it, his shade and sarcasm are acquired tastes. He does really well on Weekly Idol though.

▸ He sometimes practices dancing on his own (that's how he got so good in so little time) but god save the one who stumbles on him practicing, Myunghwan might just murder them. Can't let the cover be blown!

▸ If a group member wants to join him while he´s gaming he´s totally cool with that but be warned he´ll 99% sure will  humiliatingly DESTROY them.

FAMILY

▸ Naggy annoying sister— Park Myunghwa (29) / Vocal trainer at Yunrae / Organised, commited, high strung, responsible, caring / it's complicayed

Their relationship is... complicated. Myunghwan has never forgiven her for leaving him alone with their parents, and Myunghwa hasn't forgiven herself either. In his eyes she abandoned him knowing full well what a family they are and as you can imagine there's salt for days. So now he's made himself at home in her house and has no problem using her to get into Yunrae and using her name for much of anything. After all the way he sees it she owes him. He's always disrespecting her and being a jerk because he knows she feels guilty too and will take it and he thinks she deserves it. He does really care about her though, he's just too angry at her to show it. He's got a lot of conflicted emotions going on there and in the end none of it comes out well.
 

▸ Best niece in the world — Park Sarang aka the nugget (6) / professionally adorable / curious, sweet,  stubborn, blunt, learning an alarming amount of shade from Myunghwan / his favourite person in the world

Myunghwan loves Sarang more than anyone in the world and, surprisingly, he's really good with her too. You honestly wouldn't recognize Myunghwan when he's with Sarang,  he's all smiles and laughter and actual affection. Suddenly he's patient and understanding anD actually honest to god NICE. It's downright scary what a 180 he does.  That's only to Sarang though,  he's still an to everyone else even if she's in the room, but he'll be an in a high pitched cooing voice.

 

FRIENDS

▸ He doesn't really have friends I mean he's not all that likeable.

 

OTHER

▸ Minimal effort Bongjoon defense squad — Yong Bongjoon (18) / idol (Suite) / softhearted, awkward, sweet, anxious, spineless, fragile, so very awkward / 4 (on the off-chance they both make it)
 

While you'd think Myunghwan would be way on his case because Bongjoon is so incredibly awkward and pathetic, Myunghwann usually just lets him be. Myunghwan's shade is mostly reserved for those who need to be taken down a peg and Bongjoon is harmless. Besides who would want to deal with Bongjoon when he gets sad? Myunghwan usually ends up throwing his shade at those who are mean to Bongjoon because ah yes bully the weak one and oh I bet he's never heard he's ugly before, you're not such a looker yourself you know.

On Bongjoon's end he's really intimidated by Myunghwan because of his meanness, but he does appreciate when he helps him so now Bongjoon is always confused when he's around Myunghwan. Should he be getting anxious or should he be thankfull for his presence?? He doesn't even know anymore.

Myunghwan defends Bongjoon in such a way that doesn't really feel like a defense at all but he just hates to see people pick on the weaklings. But he definitely only defends him as long as it still looks like he doesn't give a . Can't tarnish his reputation

PERSONA :　Technically it's 'Suite's mysterious vocalist' which is as much as they could make out of it. Honestly though they can hardly even get him to introduce himself by his stage name, how big would you think the chance is he'd ever mention his persona?

STAGE NAME :　Zero. Will vehemently deny naming himself after his (second) favourite Borderlands character (he couldn't exactly call himself Handsome Jack) but yeah he totally did the nerd.
POSITION :　Lead vocalist and sub dancer

TRAINEE PERIOD :　8 months

TALENT TWINS :　

▸ Vocals: Kogyeol (Up10tion) (Look I don't mean to keep bringing Up10tion into this it just happened this way okay ;A;) (also there's no decent vocal videos or solos of this guy so this'll have to do)
▸ Dance: Jimin (BTS) (mostly the contemporary stuff, he wouldn't be as good at hiphop but let's say the potential is there)
▸ Rap: No. He just won't do it. Not even for variety.

 

TRAINEE LIFE :　

It's no secret that Myunghwan got into the company mostly as a favour to Myunghwa and on her recommendations. She'd told the CEO about his singing and dancing skill and since he also has a nice enough face they decided to take him on. Like with most other things in his life, in his training Myunghwan straddled the line of seeming to not put in any effort and actually not putting in any effort.  He became somehwat of an enigma for the other trainees. For one nobosy knew he had any experience in dancing beforehand, he hid his prior contemporary experience well, and also he seemed to improve very rapidly without ever putting in any effort. How was he learning this? How did he get so good in such a short time when he doesn't ever do ?? Do you think he sold his soul to the devil? Or is into some voodoos type ???

 

In reality he just practiced on his own if he ever struggled with anything, making sure to pick places where he'd be undisturbed, and drew upon his previous experience as well. 

 

As for vocal classes, Myunghwa helped Jinhyuk with trainee vocal lessons and she usually handled Myunghwan and kicked his whenever he slacked. He can be a to her all he wants back home but in during the vocal classes he's going to work hard and participate, dammit. So he got good there too, but since most of his vocal lessons were private (sister privileges) not many have actually heard him sing, really sing, and most people still think he can't sing worth and he does little do dispell them. Even Jinhyuk doesn't really know because as soon as Myunghwa is out of the picture he goes straight back to putting in hardly any effort.

 

PREDEBUT :

SCANDALS :

▸ Suite's Zero is rude to -insert basically anyone-. If a promotional cycle goes by without Myunghwan being rude to someone on tv it's a poor promotional cycle. Some people like his deadpan sarcasm, many people don't.

▸ Myunghwan shrugs. "Myunghwa said I had to do soemthing else except laze around her apartment all and look after her kid. She basically made me. Not like I care anyway. It's something to do I guess. Ugh being an idol sounds like so much effort though. I mean I'll do it I guess. Nothing better to do anyway."

▸ Myunghwan shrugs again. "I can't rap or play instruments besides classical piano so whatever, none. I mean what's the point of this question it's not like there is anywhere else I can go except Diamond, don't have to be smart to figure that much out."

Is there a particular activity you'd like to try in the future (like acting, musicals, variety)? : 

▸ "I guess I could do variety," he says in a perfect monotone. "If there's nobody else available. And we all know I'm fantastic at acting."

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR SUNBAES? : 

▸ Myrunghwan shrugs again. "I don't know they're alright I guess. Solbi is an idiot, Ina is too touchy, Liqin has no backbone." He slurps his drink. Wait did he have a drink before? You can't remember if he did. He sluprs more. "Eunhwa is alright."

He shrugs and slurps more of his drink. "Or maybe my sister bribed you. Wouldn't put it past her. Are you expecting me to be excited?" He rolls his eyes. "Woo I guess," he lazily pumps his fist in the air, a mockery of excitement.
