• APPEARANCE: Soojin's favourite hair colour for herself is a light brown (like in the gif in this app). She usually has many small bruises because she bruises easily and bumps into things easily (walls, tables, chairs, doors, people, etc.)
  STYLE: In public (which is lots of the time), she dresses how the company dictates, in clothes that fit the concept that they're promoting. When she's at the company with the girls, she will usually wear jeans, a loose-fitting sweater and sneakers. Her style is very casual. She rarely wears skirts except for when the company requires her to. Soojin likes to wear her hair in soft curls though or ties it up into a ponytail.

Soojin is considered the "mother" of the group. Not only is she one of the oldest (in age and as a trainee of 14 years), she also acts a lot like a nagging mother. She always tries to be rational in a dire situation by consulting the other members of 4xU so that it will be the best decision for all of them. Soojin doesn't like the question/interview period of variety shows firstly because she worries that she might fall asleep, and secondly because she tends to not "sugar-coat" her answers. She doesn't say inappropriate things, but she will tell people the truth.
Soojin is also a very curious person. She always wants to know the "why" and "how" of the world. When asked what phrase she says the most, the members will answer either "Oh dear" or "Why?" Obviously, being asked, "why" can get annoying so often, a manager will tell her to do something and before she can open , the manager will say, "Just do it, please."
After being passed over so many times, it would be difficult for anyone not to get self-conscious. She constantly asks herself why she wasn't good enough for the companies but is trying to put it behind her. It gets worse when she is asked on variety shows why she didn't debut as an actress or soloist, or when they ask how long she's been a trainee. This also makes her rather bitter so it's a bit of a sore-spot with her. She also worries about being compared to her sisters who are already so successful (the ultimate downside of having siblings).
Being the mother of the group, it seems natural that she likes to have an orderly dorm. Her roommate is always grumbling about how Soojin always makes her keep her side of the room clean. She also scolds the other members for leaving big messes in the dorm. Though it can be annoying, it makes it difficult for the members to misplace things, it definitely helps to keep them all organized.

BACKGROUND: Soojin spent most of her life as a trainee for entertainment companies. She was born and lived in San Francisco for nine years. Soojin was initially scouted in 2000 with her sisters but she didn't become a trainee until 2002 because her parents said she was too young. When Soojin still wanted to become a trainee for SM Entertainment, two years later, her parents finally accepted and allowed both her and her younger sister, Soojung, to go to South Korea to become trainees. She has lived in dorms at SM Entertainment and Woollim for most of her life. Sometimes, when she's having a bad day, she wonders what she'd be doing if she were normal; if she hadn't chosen to become a trainee. Sometimes, she wishes that she hadn't, but other days, she's glad that she chose to follow her dream.

TRAINEE LIFE: Signed to SM Entertainment in 2002, swapped by company to Woollim Entertainment in 2007; 14 years total.
Soojin was originally scouted with her sisters, Sooyeon and Soojung, by SM Entertainment in 2000 during a family trip to South Korea. Their parents initially turned down the offer for Soojung and Soojin because they were only 7 and 5 years old, respectively. In 2002, Soojung began shooting commercials and Soojin was officially signed to SM Entertainment. She did some minor roles in a couple dramas, was a backup dancer for events like SMTown or concerts held in South Korea, and was an extra in a few movies but she didn't ever debut in a group like she had originally planned. She was considered, but passed over for two different groups while she was a trainee, The Grace (too young) and Girls' Generation (also quite young). There was speculation as to whether she would debut as a solo artist or as an actress but despite rumours, she did not debut as either.
In late 2007, Soojin was part of a trainee-swap between SM Entertainment and Woollim Entertainment. During her time at Woollim, Soojin was considered to debut in 2008 with the new group, Faerietale, but was passed-over in favour of labelmate, Seo Gyu-ri (GiGi). After the scandal in 2009 that caused Faerietale to disband, Soojin was very sorry for the other girls and hoped that they would all be able to remain in the company to re-debut some day.
It was in 2014 that Woollim announced to all the trainees that a new girl group would be debuting in 2016. At that point, no one had been chosen but it was only a few days later that Soojin was placed into the lineup for the group. Soojin tried not to get her hopes up - she'd been passed over too many times and didn't want to get excited for nothing. When the line-up for 4xU was finalized, Soojin finally allowed herself to be excited, throwing all of her energy into making their debut perfect.

FAMILY:
Jung Sang-hoon / father / 54 / lawyer / determined, curious, reserved / alive / Soojin was mostly close with her father because she had a curious, determined personality like him. She also liked that he didn't mind her not wanting to dress up as a child. Though his wife, Misook, was absolutely opposed to Soojung and Soojin entering the entertainment business at such a young age, it was Sang-hoon that told them that if they still wanted to sign with SM in two years, they would allow it.
Kim Misook / mother / 51 / former gymnast / strict, assertive, intelligent / alive / Soojin was never really close with her mother. Her mother mostly doted on Sooyeon and Soojung but that was alright by Soojin. Being a former gymnast, she was athletic but tended to direct her daughters to be more feminine. Soojin didn't really like that, wanting to be more neutral. The others (including her sisters) think that it's funny that despite not being close to her mother, Soojin ended up having a motherly personality.
Jung Sooyeon (Jessica) / older sister / 26 / fashion designer / hard-working, supportive, feminine / alive / Soojin was bitter when Sooyeon was chosen for Girls' Generation but she wasn't. She was proud of her sister though and Soooyeon was supportive of both her sisters. It came as a shock to Soojin when Sooyeon announced that she'd "left" Girls' Generation since she hadn't told her. She will still text her sister, but Sooyeon has a jaded view on the Korean entertainment business. She has continually warned Soojin of the inner-workings of companies since Soojin was announced as a member of 4xU.
Jung Soojung (Krystal) / younger sister / 21 / idol - f(x) / shy, sincere, reserved / alive / When they were younger, Soojung and Soojin had grow close, first over the two years where Jessica was in Korea training to be an idol, and then when they both became trainees (Soojung was unofficially "with" the company) at SM Entertainment. They grew apart after Soojin was swapped by SM Entertainment to Woollim Entertainment in 2007. They became close again in 2014 after Sooyeon went back to the US and it was, once again, just the two of them. She spent more time with Soojung over that time, even getting to know her bandmates.
FRIENDS: 
Yoon Jinsol (Clara) / friend & bandmate / 16 / idol - Faerietale / patient, honest, anxious / alive / Jinsol was the last member added to 4xU and Soojin finds it funny that they're both referred to as "Jinnie/Jinny". As someone who has trained for a long time, Soojin hopes that she can help Jinsol to be more confident in her speaking skills.
Jung Taekwoon (Leo) / friend / 25 / idol - VIXX / loyal, easily embarassed, cold / alive / The pair met one day because of Tina, of course, with her dating Hakyeon. Soojin thought Taekwoon was pretty cute with how shy he was. He kind of reminded Soojin of her sister, Soojung, who is a reserved person to people she doesn't know but will laugh and joke with the people she's closest to. They ended up swapping numbers that day and kept in contact. She is worried about what VIXX's fans/Starlights will think of her hanging out with "their oppa". No one in 4xU believes Soojin when she returns to the dorms and tells them about her time hanging out with Taekwoon because he sounds like a completely different person. They don't believe that he can laugh loudly because during shows, he hardly even smiles. Soojin thinks he's absolutely adorable so she tries to fluster him because she thinks it's funny.
Liú Yìyún (Amber) / friend / 23 / idol - f(x) / friendly, 4D, accepting / alive / Amber is another kpop artist that grew up in America and she's been in kpop for a long time, much like Soojin. Amber is also a member of f(x) - the same band as Soojin's younger sister, Soojung. While still a trainee, Soojin would often hang out with the members of f(x) during their time out and most of the time, when fans spotted them and asked who Soojin was, the members would tease them, saying, "the sixth member of f(x)" (kind of like how Kris would say that Ace is the thirteenth member of EXO), but then actually explain who Soojin was.
Lee Minyoung (Min) / friend / 24 / idol - Miss A / funny, cheerful, energetic / alive / Min didn't grow up in the US, but is fluent in English after having spent time abroad there. She is a friendly person and is good friends with Amber, which is how they met. Soojin is jealous of Min and Hyoyeon's amazing dancing talents. They bond usually over their extremely long trainee periods.
Violet Chan Xingyi (Venus) / like sisters & bandmate / 21 / idol - 4xU / lazy, well-intentioned, stubborn / alive / Soojin knew Violet's sister, Xingyue since she was a little older than her. Soojin didn't know about the bullying that had gone on since she didn't enter into Woolim Entertainent until 2007, but learned of it when she met Xingyue's sister, Violet. Because of what happened to Xingyue, Soojin is especially protective of the younger girl and is always helping the girl to achieve her goal of becoming the perfect idol in memory of her sister. Violet has never told her who the leader of Xingyue's bullies were, but sometimes she's grateful that the girl hasn't told her.
OTHERS:
Kim Hyoyeon / acquaintence / 26 / idol - Girls' Generation / stoic, honest, easygoing / alive / Hyoyeon is also a part of the crew, even though she doens't speak fluent English, they all like to get together on their days off, though they don't always coincide with each other (since they're all from different groups). Hyoyeon is often called "Dancing Queen" so they spend a lot of time practicing together.
Cheon Sang Mi / bandmate / 26 / idol - 4xU / responsible, competitive, tempermental / alive / Sang Mi was going to be the original leader for Faerietale and they were both trainees for the group for a time so they got to know each other. Soojin is closer to Sang Mi because she's got many leadership qualities that Soojin admires.

LOVE INTEREST: Im Hyunsik

PERSONALITY: patient, relaxed, thoughtful / confident, playful, competitive / quiet, shy

RELATIONSHIP: With Sophie being friends with the famous, fan-pleaser, Yook Sungjae, Soojin was bound to meet the rest of BtoB at some point. EXO and BtoB debuted in the same year and Soojin is a big fan of both of the groups (she still can't get over the fact that Krystal is dating Kim Jongin). Since Soojin has made many friends over the years of her long trainee time, she finds it actually quite easy to become friends with BtoB. Some of the girls know about how much Soojin admires BtoB and even reveals to the members that Hyunsik is her bias. After the awkward moment passes, the two exchange phone numbers and become texting buddies.
Having an "American personality", Soojin isn't as frail as some might think. She's quite competitive so when the two play games when they meet up to hang out, it turns into a game of teasing. Always wanting to test out her abilities, she challenges Hyunsik to an arm-wrestling match... and loses, of course. The pair like to collaborate in the kitchen of one of the group's dorms and cook for the members. Hyunsik's stage persona as a gentleman is true in his "behind-the-scenes" life and Soojin finds herself melting at the idol's adorable eye-smile and dorky laugh. One of Soojin's favourite things to do with Hyunsik is have conversations in English. He claims that he forgot most of the English that he'd learned when he began learning Mandarin but he's still able to hold a conversation with her and brushes up on slang with Soojin. Occassionally, Peniel will complain that he uses too much slang thanks to her #YOLO.

PERSONALITY: loyal, responsible / competitive, confident, honest / quick to anger, stoic

RELATIONSHIP: Chase wasn't the only one to get a phone number the day of the music show. JB and JJ hit it off after the interview. First, JB made the comment that he'd seen their showcase and said he could relate to trying to keep the dorms clean, especially since his group memebers were boys. The pair bonded over leader struggles but ended up bonding over their love of food.
At first, it was akward for the pair because Jaebum was speaking formally since Soojin is two years older but she eventually got tired of honourifics and formal speech so she told him to simply call her "Soojin or JJ". Some of the members overheard them and coo-ed at them, jokingly calling them the JJJ Couple. Soojin quickly changes the topic to Jaebum's b-boying which she thinks is really cool. He offers to show it to her one day and they stay in touch after the music program. Sometimes they'll go out to eat but never for Western food since Jaebum can't stomach it well so when they hunt down hidden gems later at night so as not to get caught by fans, they usually go for Korean places. Jaebum is an honest person so he doesn't try to eat prettily or lie about things. Soojin finds it both refreshing and amusing but since she decided to watch some of GOT7's videos since she became friends with him, she found a funny video where he addresses the fans saying that he didn't fart in one of his videos and that Mark farts the most in the group. She constantly teases him about his acting in Dream High 2 because she finds it extremely funny how embarrassed the leader gets. The pair have a light-hearted, teasing relationship but Jaebum wants to opportunity to show Soojin that he can be like an "oppa"... he just doesn't know how with her.

 4xU and GOT7 both get invited on to a guest show and things get competitive? Like... maybe Jaebum and Soojin just go all out?
 I can totally imagine that 4xU has a run-in with GiGi on the streets & a verbal smack-down takes place.
 What if 4xU & GiGi are performing on the same music show? :O I can totally imagine the tension. What if it's an exclusive where the group & GiGi are supposed to talk about what happened with them & stuff & everyone just gets uncomfortable... idk.
 I'd like to read about the girls on lots of game shows like Hello Baby, We Got Married, Weely Idol, Running Man or whatever you like!
