BACKGROUND — 

Mei was born in Hangzhou where she lived until she was ten. Soon after her mother's father died after a heart attack, the whole family moved out to the town of Summerhaven - the place where Hua (Seo) Soon Ja grew up. Due to failing health, Soon Ja's mother followed after her husband. In order to care for her grandmother, Mei's parents had sold most everything in China and decided to remain in Summerhaven. At first, Mei didn't want to stay in Korea - everything was different and she could barely speak Korean.
It was a year later that Soon Ja opened a little flower shop in memory of her mother who had loved to care for plants and always had them in her house. At first, only Soon Ja and Mei worked in the flower shop. People eventually became regular customers and there was then a need to hire a second hand. Zhang Yixing was the first to be hired when he travelled to Summerhaven.
When Luhan became a member of Flora's staff, he got quite the welcome. Mei was only 14 at the time and, not knowing he was an employee, nearly knocked him out because she thought he was breaking into their store. It wasn't until Mei was 16, that she noticed that Luhan was actually quite handsome (despite being one of the biggest dorks she knew).
There was another family-business in Summerhaven and they always made sure to have bouquets from Flora's. Coincidentally, that family had a girl that visited every summer who was around Mei's age. The two became friends due to the frequent visits to the flower shop to see a certain flower boy.

FIRST MEETING — Mei & Luhan hadn't met in school since he didn't move to Korea until he was 18. Luhan quickly became good friends with Yixing who was another Chinese person. Yixing was the one who suggested Luhan apply for a position at Flora. The first time Mei met Luhan was when he opened up the shop for the first time & she thought he was breaking in. She almost clobbered him with a broom but was stopped by Yixing who informed her of his employment status just in time.

INTERACTIONS — At first, they were quite awkward around each other but grew to be good friends. Luhan teases Mei quite a bit since she is younger than he is. She sometimes teases back, having once caught him admiring himself in one of the mirrors. Luhan likes to look out for Mei since she is younger & also the daughter of his employer. They have a comfortable relationship.
