Foreword

Night settled in quietly, a light breeze blew outside as we all sat at the round dinner table. The food already set in front of us. Everyone ate with small talk as I sat and ate my food quietly. The people I despised the most were around me and I couldn’t do anything about it. As I was about to take another bite the windows shattered and the doors were busted down. Men clad in black surrounded us. Each man held a gun in his hand and aimed at us. There were four in total.

My father stood in his seat.

“Take one more step and we shoot you,” one of the men barked.

My father stood still and spoke, “What do you want with me and my family?”

The same man laughed, “Nothing but for all of you to be ceased,” he pulled the trigger. A loud bang resounded popping my ears. My father fell to the ground just at my feet blood started to trickle down his forehead and onto the white tiles. My eyes fell down to the still lifeless corpse.

“You took it away,” I started to chuckle.

The man came closer and pointed his gun at me, “You're next if you keep talking.”

I looked up at him and the gun pointed straight at my head, with quick reflexes I snatched the gun out of his hand and twisted his arm. His legs gave in as he grunted. I used the chance to hit his shoulder with the of the handgun, he grunted again.

“You took away all that I was hoping for, the one place where no one could reach me and now my father’s there. There’s no other place for me to go now except,” I smiled, “Maybe, juvie, how long do you think I’ll be sentenced if I shot all of you here?” I asked.

“Don’t forget you’re surrounded by my men with one command I can kill you,” the man grunted.

“Did you forget I have a gun too?” I placed it on the side of his head.

“You wouldn’t even dare shoot,” he snorted.

“Really?” one of my eyebrows quirked up, I aimed the gun across the table where another man pointed his gun at me. Without thinking twice I pulled the trigger and he fell back. “Say that again,” I put the gun back to the man’s head.

“You came here to kill my family correct?”

“I don’t have to answer to a child like you,” he sneered.

I shot one of his men in the chest, “Just answer the question,” I twisted his arm even more.

He grunted, “Fine, we were sent to kill you all.”

“I’ll do you a favor then,” I turned to my mother, “You and father always took everything I had away from me. There was nothing more than something that I could call mine,” I held the gun at her and pulled the trigger.

I turned to my brother. His face was drained of color as he sat still in his seat. “You never let me have freedom. I had to give up so many opportunities of going out because you told me not to. I was outcasted at school because of you,” I shot him in the chest.

I turned back to the man, “There I did you a favor.”

The man smirked, “Makes my job easier all that’s left is to kill you. Doyoon shoot her,” he ordered.

I looked at the only other person left standing. Both his hands were wrapped around his hand gun. I raised my hand aiming my gun at him. Our eyes locked on each others and soon everything around us vanished. It was just us two, weapons in both of our hands aiming at each other.

He shot first. My body froze as I waited for the bullet to hit me, except it never did.

I snapped out of my trance as the man I was holding fell limp. I let go of him and turned back to the male standing. His ears perked up as police sirens were faintly becoming louder. He turned back to me before making his way towards me grabbing me by the arm. Harshly pulling me out the door we both ran outside the back door before we hid behind the large trash bins in my neighborhood.

“You will keep quiet and do as I say,” he turned to me as we were crouched down. Police sirens rang throughout the whole neighborhood. I kept my lips shut contemplating whether or not I should trust him. He pulled out a walkie talkie and spoke into it, “Unit 2 reporting, mission failed. Come get me at position four, don’t make a scene police have the area covered,” his eyes that were scouring the area drifted down to me, “I have baggage, we need to get to headquarters quick,” he ended the call.

Not long after did a black van pull up and I was pushed inside. We passed woods on the long ride, my eyes soon closed itself. After what felt like hours we pulled up to a large building in the city. I was led in and down a flight of stairs through multiple hallways and passed others who held imitating stares at me.

Doyoon turned his head back to me, “No matter what happens you just stay quiet unless he asks you something, I’ll take care of it,” he turned back and stopped at a door, he knocked three times and opened  it. The door creaked opened. A man sat behind a desk with his arms folded on top of the desk, his eyebrows creased together as he stared straight ahead.

Doyoon bowed, “I brought her, sir,” he stood back up and took a step inside.

The man beckoned me to come forward so I did. The door then shut noisily just behind me. The man stood from his desk and made his way over to me. He leaned his face towards me as I tried moving my face away.

“You’re the younger one Nari, yes?” he asked.

“Yes,” I meekly replied.

He took a step back, “Took down all my men and your own family eh?” he turned towards Doyoon, “We didn’t need Seungin and his men anyway, make sure she trains well we’re in need of new aspect,” he turned around and went back to his chair.

“Yes sir,” Doyoon bowed before grabbing my wrist and pulling me out the door.
