Middle finger
The Breakup PlaylistSEOUL UNIVERSITY
Jiselle was talking to her bestfriend in front of their lockers. She was complaining about the research paper that they needed to do before the end of that semester that would count more than half of their final grade. And she needed to maintain a B+. Being an exchange student came with a price, and that is to never have a grade lower than that. It was a piece of cake for her for the first 3 years. But now that they are down to the final semester, everything is going down hill.
“Yah Yura. Can you believe that paper? I think I’ll be sleeping in the library from now on.” Jiselle sighed as she closed her locker and leaned on it while hugging the books she took out.
“Don’t remind me. I’m this close to failing that subject.” Yura showed her hands with the point finger and thumb having a very little gap.
“Well. Business management is hard.”
“I know. Now c’mon. We’re gonna be late for the last subject.” Yura said as she lead the way to their class.
While entering the room, Jiselle saw his boyfriend hanging out with their other friends. Typical scene for them. She slowly walked towards him and sat down next to him. She kissed his cheeks and he smiled at her sweetly.
“Babe. Joshua’s girlfriend May is having a party tonight at her place. We’re going right?” Jeonghan said as he moved his chair closer to her.
“I’d love to Jeonghan. But you know I have to study.” She said with a pout.
“You need a break anyway. Just one night please?” Now he was the one pouting at her as he took her hand and kissed the back of it.
“You want me to move back to my country?” That was always her line to shut jeonghan up. She wanted to party, yes. But she wanted to stay in Seoul more. And to stay there, she needs to work hard for it.
The night of the party came and Jiselle was stuck in her room working on that paper due on Monday. “I can’t take this anymore. I need a break.” She thought as she went to her bed and dialed Jeonghan’s number. *riiiiing riiiiing riiiiiing* it kept ringing but he didn’t pick up. “I’ll just go there and surprise him.” she went to her closet to change outfits that was more suitable for a college party.
When she got to May’s house, the party was already at it’s . When she entered, almost everyone was drunk and dancing. The lights were dim and there were people everywhere, she said hi to some of her friends and went to the kitchen to get a drink. But to her surprise Yura was there with Jeonghan making out. They were obviously too drunk and too into what they were doing to realize that she was watching them. Instead of heading towards them and slapping him hard, she just slowly backed away and head out. “Hey! I just saw you and you’re leaving already?” May stopped her in her tracks. Jiselle was already having a hard time controlling the tears that were ready to fall any minute now. She just hugged May and went out in a rush.
Monday came and she acted as if nothing happened. Until lunch time came and she was ready to confront Jeonghan. They were at their usual spot in the field under the big old tree they always hang out at. Jeonghan was busy eating his food and held out a gimbab infront of her girlfriend’s mouth. But she didn’t take it. “I went to the party Jeonghan.” He lowered the gimbab and listened to her. “I saw you kissing Yura.”, wet tears finally escaped her eyes, Jeonghan just stayed silent. “Babe I’m sorry. I was drunk and I didn’t think properly.” He said in a rush and held her. Jiselle pushed away his hands and stood up, “No. Don’t say sorry. Because that’s just an excuse people say to feel better about what they did.”. Jiselle started walking away but stopped half way and turned around, she looked Jeonghan once more and that made Jeonghan stood up with a smile, thinking that she already forgave her. But she just held up her middle finger while smiling and continued to walk away.
