In Which They Have Questions

Let's Drink

GOT7 Dorm: January 1st, 2016, 2:23 p.m. (Present day)

Passing out after drinking is a weird feeling. It’s very satisfying to lie down and finally let gravity lead your eyelids downwards. But the sleep experience can be either extremely comfortable, or totally uncomfortable as your body prepares itself for a hangover. Some of the side effects of said hangover are a heavy head, a heavy heart, and that one question: What the hell did you do last night?

This is a similar situation for the quartet of 97-liners, who are twenty years old as of recently. Whose idea was it to get so wasted? Bambam’s. Kunpimook Bhuwakul Bambam had the bright idea of playing a drinking game as the first thing of the year. Who can blame him? He was still feeling down for not being able to travel to Thailand and see his family. For the naïve young one, all he knows about alcohol is it’s supposed to drown out sadness. So he took that advice from pop media and drank away.

But who agreed, and encouraged the game first? Jimin did. Park Jimin, Jimin Park, Jamie Park, whatever you prefer. Surprisingly, she was feeling even more depressed about the canceled flight than the Thailand native. She would finally meet her best friend’s family, and go back to where she grew up without having to worry about her time restrictions and JYP Nation schedules. But she lives a similar life as Bambam, and decides to drink away.

And then there are Yugyeom and Yerin, well-known to be followers rather than leaders. Should Bambam do something crazy, Yugyeom only decides it’s best to follow and not be the lame one of the maknae line. Yerin, too, fears falling into her own teammate’s shadow; a mutual fear, but Jimin has the personality to act against falling back. Yerin just decides, if Jimin does it, so should she. Now Yugyeom and Yerin think: is that always a clever idea? Are Bam and Jamie actually good examples to follow?

The irritating sound of pans and pots is what ultimately wakes up Yugyeom. Is that the sound of lunch cooking? What time is it? He tries to sit up, but ultimately falls back down when his headache gets the best of him. So this is what a hangover feels like.

“…” Yugyeom presses a palm against his forehead, and forces himself to sit up, much slower this time. When he finally gets to an upright position, he has to blink intensely to get his eyes to adjust to the bright room.

He’s in his dorm. In the living room, to be exact, on the couch. It doesn’t take a mirror for Yugyeom to know his hair is probably a wreck of a nest. The dorm seems alright, not very messy, and he smells food cooking. Yugyeom realizes he feels a sort of weight on his leg, and looks to the opposite end of the couch. Yerin is lying there, passed out.

Before he can ask questions as to why Yerin isn’t in her own home, and why he himself isn’t in his bed, Yugyeom sees Bambam stagger into the living room from their room. Sure enough, his hair is as messy as Yugyeom imagines his own is. Bambam’s normally-white BB cream is smudged, and his face has large brown patches of his natural skin tone. Bambam seems as confused as Yugyeom.

“Yu… Yugyeom…” Bambam starts, not knowing how to word himself, and he points to the door of his room. “Why is Jimin on your bed?”

It takes the groggy Yugyeom a few seconds to process the question. When he does, he feels even more confused. But his body isn’t in any kind of condition to run around the dorm—he has no intention of actually going in his room to check if Jimin is there.

“Uh… well…” Yugyeom points to the other side of the couch. “Why is Yerin sleeping on our couch?”

Bambam ruffles his eyebrows. “Wh… I don’t know!” He cringes from yelling; the sound is too loud for his hangover. “I don’t know, Yugyeom…” Bambam repeats, quietly this time, “What in the world happened last night?”

“Well, we took our shots, and…” Yugyeom breathes in slowly, rubbing his temples. It takes only a few seconds for him to clench his fists in defeat. “Ah… I don’t know. Maybe we got drunk and someone drove us home.”

Bambam scoffs and rolls his eyes. The animated response shows he’s slowly beginning to wake up. “Yeah, if you wanna be optimistic. If that were the case, then why is Jimin wearing my blouse in your bed? And what is this?”

He rolls up his sleeve, showing his sharpie-tattooed arm. In very sloppy handwriting, someone had written “It was me” in black marker on Bambam’s arm. Yugyeom shudders at the sight.

            “Dude, that’s creepy.”

“Right? I’d like to hear the full story—”

The sound of work in the kitchen suddenly stops, and both Bambam and Yugyeom hear the sound of plates being pulled from the cupboard. Junior walks into the living room from the kitchen and raises an eyebrow.

“You’re awake, finally. Wake up the girls, we’re having a late lunch.”

The table is rather squished; a table that is used to feeding the seven boys of GOT7 now has to hold nine plates, with the addition of 15&. There’s an odd silence. It seems that out of these nine heads, with four of them having a massive hangover, five heads know exactly what happened last night. Junior looks up every now and then to talk, but can’t find words. JB purses his lips, even while eating. Mark and Jackson both avoid eye contact with the girls. Youngjae can’t bare to look at anyone. Yerin is bent over the table, pinching her temples. Nobody speaks; everybody eats. Jimin can’t take it anymore.

“Okay, tell me what happened!” She slams the table, then immediately cringes and regrets hearing such a loud noise with her headache. She pipes down to a quieter volume. “This… is a weird silence. Did we do something weird?”

The tension in the room seems to rise with those words. What, did she say something wrong? Yerin is still hunched over in her seat, feeling sick. The awkward silence is broken when Mark stands abruptly, grabbing his plate. He tugs on Jackson’s shirt.

“I’m… Jackson and I are done,” Mark announces and pulls Jackson to join him in the kitchen. Jackson is more than enthusiastic to walk in there with him. All eyes are on them until they leave the room. Jimin turns to Jaebum.

“Yah, leader,” Jimin says, her words coming out a bit more venomously than she’d hoped. Must be the hangover. JB looks up, and she continues to talk. “You’re the leader, so tell us what happened last night!”

Yugyeom and Bambam look at him with pleading eyes. Yerin peeks up from under her palms. Jaebum opens his mouth to explain, then pauses and looks at Junior for a little help. Junior pats his friend on the lap and tries to find his own words. Youngjae, eventually, is surprisingly the first to speak.

“The three of us only know what happened after you came into the dorm. Ayeon Noona brought you guys here, since this dorm is the closest to that pub you went to,” being a loudmouth, it seems that Youngjae isn’t shy to explain.

“Can you tell us what happened?” Yerin speaks her first words of the day, not being able to bring her voice above a whisper.

“Jackson Hyung was already asleep. Jinyoung Hyung and Mark Hyung decided to be in charge of getting Yugyeom and Yerin to sleep,” Youngjae explains, “Jaebum Hyung and I were in charge of Bambam and Jimin, so I can tell you about them.”

Bambam and Jimin lean in intently, and Youngjae begins his story.

GOT7 Dorm: January 1st, 2016, 4:50 a.m. (Youngjae’s point of view)

We had actually just gone inside from playing with fireworks, and were ready to go to sleep when we heard the doorbell ring. We assumed it was Yugyeom and Bam, so we opened up without giving it much of a second thought. To our surprise, Ayeon Noona was standing there. She looked rather annoyed. She was holding Jimin and Yerin’s hands with one of her hands, and was holding Yugyeom and Bam’s hands with her other. She basically threw you four in the apartment and started ranting.

“I’ll admit, it’s my fault for letting Jimin and Yerin go out to drink first thing of the year,” Ayeon huffed, “But you guys had better kept an eye on Bambam and Yugyeom. Go, my turn is over. It’s your turn to take care of them.”

We don’t know what you guys did to Ayeon Noona, but we assume you gave her a hard time when she drove you here from the pub. Ayeon left then, so it was up to us to take care of you guys. You guys were all totally wasted. It was kind of freaky seeing you guys drunk like that, but it was also pretty funny. Bambam, Yerin and Yugyeom are loud drunks. Jimin seems to be a quiet drunk.

So Jaebum Hyung decided we split up who takes care of who. Yerin and Yugyeom already staggered over to the couch, so Jinyoung and Mark decided to take care of them. Jaebum Hyung and I decided to carry Jimin and Bam to the maknae bedroom, where Yugyeom and Bambam normally sleep. Jimin was on the verge of passing out.

We saw Jimin’s shirt was stained in alcohol, and what we can only assume is a bit of puke. So we gave her one of Bambam’s blouses to sleep in. Jimin-ah, you don’t have much shame when you’re drunk, do you? You ended up getting changed right in front of us. We had to cover our and Bambam’s eyes.

We all gave you guys a bit of water to drink, and Jaebum Hyung proceeded to scold Jimin and Bambam.

“Yah, who let you drink this much? I thought you were going to only taste your first drink, not go bat crazy and take shots!” Jaebum started scolding Bambam in particular, as his leader. But what’s crazy, Bambam, is that you didn’t fight back. You suddenly started weeping! And Jimin-ah, you did, too.

“Hyung… I want to go to Thailand!” Bambam cried. “I love it here, but I also miss my family.”

“Yah, I wanted to go, too!” Jimin started crying harder. “I wanted to make a good impression on Thailand again, I miss my home…”

And you two cried a bit. But the weird thing is that alcohol must really mess up your mood swings, because not even five minutes after that, you guys completely passed out and fell asleep.

GOT7 Dorm: January 1st, 2016, 3:04 p.m. (Present day)

“So… yeah. That’s as far as JB Hyung and I know,” Youngjae concludes his part of the story, trying his best to remember if anything else happened. As Youngjae had told his story, Bambam and Jimin remember having done those things.

“Okay, that clears up why I’m dressed like this… how embarrassing,” Jimin covers her face, then eyes Jaebum and Youngjae suspiciously, “You guys really looked away when I changed my shirt?”

            Youngjae laughs. “Of course!”

Yugyeom and Yerin look at each other. Youngjae’s story tells them nothing about themselves. Yugyeom sighs. “So Ayeon Noona drove us home… that means one of us called her. And we got completely wasted. That’s all we know about what happened at the pub. Did we tell you anything else about what happened at the pub?”

Jaebum shakes his head. “Youngjae and I only know about what happened once you got home. No idea what you guys did at the pub.”

“Oh!” Youngjae remembers, “I remember Bambam said, I hope you don’t think it was a pity kiss.”

“Kiss?” Bambam laughs, “I guess that’s a mystery for the pub.”

The group stays quiet for a while, the hungover ones trying to piece together any recovered memory. Youngjae shrugs and walks away from the table, Jaebum following his trail. Their job is done, and Jinyoung a.k.a. Junior remains. Yerin suddenly remembers a vague image, and sits upright. She speaks up.

“Um, Jinyoung Oppa,” Yerin rubs her forehead, “Did I get in a fight with anyone last night? I feel like I remember yelling.”

Junior remains awkwardly silent. It’s not like him, normally he’s a great speaker. This only means something odd happened. Yugyeom leans in.

“Hyung, can you tell us what happened when you and Mark Hyung were taking care of us? We already know how Bambam and Jimin were taken care of,” Yugyeom pleads. Yerin nods, too, wanting to know.

He pauses again, then leans back to look into the kitchen. Mark and Jackson are washing dishes. Jinyoung sighs and nods. “Okay. I’ll tell you. Here’s what happened with Yugyeom and Yerin.”

Jinyoung starts to tell his point of view.

GOT7 Dorm: January 1st, 2016, 4:50 a.m. (Junior’s point of view)

So, as Youngjae had already told you, Ayeon Noona had brought you four home well—you should thank her later—and I decided Mark and I should take care of Yugyeom and Yerin. Mark seemed a little hesitant to help Yerin, but I did convince him in the end. So we did the usual, you know, giving water, checking if they’re healthy as ever, and all of that. Yugyeom was very obedient. He seemed a little sad, even.

“I did it, Hyung,” Yugyeom told me at one point when we were trying to get him to lie down, “But I don’t know if that’s a good thing.”

I don’t know what Yugyeom meant when he said that. But anyway, the real drama began when we were trying to get Yerin to lie down. She suddenly hit our arms away from her. Yerin-ah, you’re very out of character when you’re drunk, you’re violent! Anyhow, Yerin began kicking us, claiming that we were forcing her down.

“You’re judging me, too, aren’t you?” Yerin had started to rant, “All the girls at school talk about me like that, because I appear cold. I only hung out with those men because they seemed to be judged for their appearance as well! I felt like I could fit in with them, so I went out with them! Are you guys judging me for going out with strange men?”

And her words came out so suddenly, Mark Hyung and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t even know what men she was talking about until Mark Hyung explained it to me. We felt a little bad, so we tried to soothingly tell her to go to sleep. But then Yerin stood up and started pointing fingers at Mark Hyung.

“And you!” Yerin started using informal speech on Mark, but he didn’t seem to mind, being American and all. “What kind of a response is that? How could you call me back and only say ‘Um, sorry’? That’s rude! You’re rude!”

Now, I had no idea what the heck Yerin was talking about. Mark seemed to feel guilty, though, and ended up leaving the room. It’s a bit weird seeing Yerin yell like that, considering her voice still sounds very soft when she’s scolding someone. Yugyeom pulled her down to lie down on the couch. It didn’t take long for you two to just pass out after that.

GOT7 Dorm: January 1st, 2016, 3:10 p.m. (Present day)

Junior finishes his part of the story. The story sounded much wilder than the one Youngjae told, and Yerin looks particularly frustrated with what Jinyoung had just said. Yugyeom, Bambam and Jimin all stare her way. She scolded Mark? Really? Yerin shakes her head.

“I’m… really confused. Is that why Mark Oppa was so awkward when we were eating lunch?” Yerin asks, “And what even was I scolding him about? He called me back? What?”

“So you’re saying I told you, I did it,” Yugyeom repeats, “What did I do, though?”

Both subjects of Junior’s story groan loudly. It seems like everything is a lot more confusing than it was before. His story raises more questions than it does answer any. Junior pats Yugyeom on the shoulder before walking off into the kitchen to help with the dishes. The four 97-liners sit by the table in silence again. Bambam is the first to speak up.

“Okay, so let’s list out the questions and answers that we have.”

Yerin chuckles. “We have a lot. But let’s go. What do we know?”

Yugyeom begins to summarize. “So what we do know is that we came home drunk, driven by Ayeon. Jinyoung and Mark took care of Yerin and I. Jaebum and Youngjae took care of Jimin and Bambam. Jimin puked on her shirt and had to change it. She and Bambam then proceeded to pour their hearts out about missing Thailand. Yerin poured her heart out about hanging out with delinquents because of her own insecurities.”

“Okay, now let’s ask the questions,” Jimin announces, “Bam, you begin.”

“Who wrote It was me on my arm? And did I kiss someone at the pub? If so, who did I kiss?” Bambam asks.

“What happened between Mark Oppa and I that I would scold him?” Yerin continues, “And I have a bruise on my lip. Where’d that come from?”

Yugyeom touches his lip. “I have that bruise, too. Where is it from? And what did I mean when I told Jinyoung Hyung, ‘I did it, but I don’t know if that’s a good thing’?”

“Here are my questions,” Jimin lists out hers, “My phone is out of credit. I could have sworn I had enough money for a very short call. Who was I calling or texting last night? And Jackson Oppa was acting cold to me. What happened with us?”

Another silence follows after the stream of questions. Bambam sighs and stands up, walking away from the table.

“Where are you going?” Yugyeom calls out to his roommate.

“What do you think?” Bambam points to his face, “I’m a mess. You guys should all wash up and get dressed before we head out.”

The others nod, and begin getting up. Yerin turns to Yugyeom. “Can I borrow a blouse and a pair of shoes? I can’t change my skirt, but I’d like to get out of my heels and this gross shirt.”

Yugyeom nods, not thinking much of it. Odd. Normally words like that would make Yugyeom’s heart flutter like a little boy. Instead of feeling happy, Yugyeoms heart feels a weight. Did something happen last night, that his heart remembers more than his head? “Uh, sure you can.”

Jimin calls out to Bambam. “Can I borrow this blouse as well? Bam?”

“Yeah!” Bambam responds from the other room.

After they all enter Yugyeom and Bambam’s room, the four 97-liners begin combing their hair and putting on proper clothes. The hangover seems to be lifting slowly. But midway into getting ready, Jimin stops and turns to Bambam. Yerin and Yugyeom stop as well, curious to what Jimin is thinking.

“Wait, Bam. Where are we going? You said we’re heading out.”

Bambam sticks his head out of his closet. “Yah, Jamie.”

“What? I’m actually wondering,” Jimin says.

“If we want solutions to our questions, then we better work for them! We’re going to Ayeon Noona’s apartment. She probably has some answers for our questions.”

To Ayeon’s house, it is.

A/N: Well, that took only a day. I really am updating quickly, I hope that's alright. I really do have nothing to do over the vacation. If there's anything confusing about the Point of View changes, or the flashbacks, feel free to ask questions! Until next time!

Chapter 10: I loved this fic so much! It's so rare to find a good 15& centric fic. And the way you had their relationship with Got7 and the rest of JYP Nation, I absolutely loved it. You write so well! The gifs at the end of each chapter were a really nice touch too (I actually made some of the gifs in the foreword myself ^^)

Chapter 10: This was a really well written fanfic in my opinion. It feels almost like a movie or a book, and the characters weren't actually idols, but just normal fictional characters. But I mean that in a good way, because if this was a book, it would be written well I think. Good Job!
