Foreword
They say I already have the perfect life. I came from a rich ancient great family in Korea. Ancient, because dated back to Joseon Dynasty, we were a notable noble family. So basically, we are an indisputable part of history. Great, because my ancestors have managed to protect the royal family of Korea way back the Korean War. Rich, because my great grandfather, Jung Jiyong, one of the young and aspiring business tycoon in South Korea then, had managed to lift up our name even higher from building up an empire, soon called, the J Empire, J for Jung.
Up ‘til now, the legacy my great grandfather left us is still well known all around the world. Not only, the J Empire is the largest supplier of car parts in the country, but it also corporate into the merchandising industry that trades products around the world. Our company owns almost all the shopping malls in Seoul and we are also involved in the real estate business in Gangnam District. All of these wealth and prestige was inherited by my father, Jung Jungnam, the eldest among the three sons of grandpa, Jung Jo, who is the only son of Jung Jiyong.
And now, I, Jessica Jung, the rich man’s eldest daughter will soon am inheriting this richness. It is a perfect life. I’m an heir to an empire. I have great friends. I have a loving yet annoying younger sister. I have a fiancé who loves me so much. And I have a pet dog named, Eve. Life is perfect. And I couldn’t ask for more.
Until I met her.
It’s hard being everyone’s second choice. But being the rich man’s second daughter, I will always be just an option. Coming from a family of conservative ancient noble name, the eldest child will forever be the priority. Is it my fault that I wasn’t born first?
I’m Krystal Jung, the rich man’s youngest daughter and my fate’s long been written. I’m meant to be my older sister’s shadow. I’m meant to stand backstage while my lucky older sister enjoys the spotlight. All my life, I’ve always been the least priority. I’m not everyone’s favorite and my family never misses a chance to remind me of that every day of my life. Never once, that I’ve felt that I’m important.
Until I met her.
