READER INFORMATION: None, though various chapters are rated [M] for violence and gore (most of them are not that graphic, however, and do not necessarily need a rating).
I've had this fic on my to-recommend list for a good few months now and I seriously can't get enough of it. It's one of the fics I most anticipate updates for (not least because the current part of the plot is really sweet and fluffy). Some of the story follows Jiyong and the research team, but don't let that put you off, because it's important to the overall plot and it really helps to flesh out the world and adds an extra dimension to the dynamic between Jordan and Chen, particularly early on (and in some more recent chapters, too). There's another character who gets romantically involved with one of the research team which I think might later cause trouble (or she might possibly be a corporate spy), and besides, these breaks from Chen and Jordan just make us anticipate their next scenes more, and also add to the emotion of them because we know the difficulties the research team have had in being able to maintain or provide something which Chen and Jordan don't necessarily even know about while they're struggling with their own problems or exploring. On the rare occasions when the plot felt like it might meander, a return to the lab injected it with fresh energy and bam! the stakes are ramped up higher again, and it gets more and more interesting. Tensions between Humans and Variants have never been higher. Jordan Chang finds herself forced into an experiment, tasked with the mission of developing civil relations with the feral werewolf "Chen." Will she complete her mission? Can she keep herself alive?
thoughts PLOT: After the beta werewolf they're attempting to observe rips apart the fifth criminal JiYong's team is trying to get it to bond with for psychological research purposes, they resort to an unlikely sixth test subject: a teenage superhacker imprisoned for the single-handed break-in and dissemination of all the YG Research corporation's illegal experimentation to the public. While the higher-ups in the YG corporation hate her guts and would rather she stay in prison (or be a fatality in the experiment), Jiyong and his team think it tragic to waste such a talented young life and are pleasantly surprised when Chen doesn't rip her to shreds the instant she sets foot in the observation cell. Realising they have a potential goldmine of information if things work out, they throw themselves whole-heartedly into backing Jordan as she begins to crack the enigmatic exterior of the werewolf and Chen begins – cautiously – to respond to Jordan in the different settings the scientists devise in their attempt to prove that Humans and Variants are capable of living alongside each other.I've had this fic on my to-recommend list for a good few months now and I seriously can't get enough of it.
