Here It Comes: The Battle of the Talents

As everybody probably knows by now the Annual Talent Faceoff is already being prepared for. The sign up period started just a couple days ago and may I say, the competition is fierce. Soloists will not be given an easy win and the groups aren’t getting much leeway either, not with fantastic winners going in for the kill and new rising talents starting to display their talents.

Let’s do a quick rundown of who is officially in:

Anyway we all know that the Faceoff is a great time to place bets on how many freshmen screw up and how many wardrobe malfunctions happen. I know because I’ve done it myself. The betting not the Faceoff. Haha as if.

The real gossip though is currently Exo. A group that for the past three years has been exclusively three members is now moving away from that idea. The posters for auditions were posted the day after sign ups for the Faceoff began. Reliable sources claim that many lowerclassmen have auditioned and been directed out of the room by a polite Luhan.

Exo has grown into a bigger group but it isn’t common knowledge who has joined the group. Unsurprisingly no one has been able to get any real info out of the original three members. They do like to keep their secrets until it’s time for final announcements before the Faceoff officially begins. However, no one wants to wait until a couple days before the Faceoff to know the finalized contestants list so if anyone has any information and proof to back it up please send me a tweet @ChenTertaining. I’ll be glad to include you in this post.

The facts of Exo:

-Founded by Wu Yifan aka Kris,if you prefer his stage name, and his two best friends Kim Minseok,also known as Xiumin, and Xi Luhan, also known as Luhan, (didn’t really try with his stage name huh?).

-They competed apparently at Kris’ insistence.

-They’ve had the second place streak going ever since their freshmen year. Now as seniors, moving on to different universities afterwards for their grad work they are going for gold. For that first place.

-Exo is a mix of dance, dramatics, and impressive vocals from members that aren’t even in the vocal performance department.

-Xiumin hits high notes that put everyone to shame, Luhan serenades you into submission, and Kris’ growl of a voice is sure to draw anyone in.

-Together they’ve managed to secure a small following when it’s time for the Faceoff. Many girls are preparing for the day they go onstage again to perform.

So with that all in mind it becomes even more of a curious thing these auditions. A group that has been so successful bringing in new recruits? We’ll know soon enough. Nothing stays hidden forever. Thanks for reading and do check back for updates.

That post had been up for only an hour and already it had two hundred notes. The tumblr app on his phone would not stop notifying him of new notifications. It was very impressive that his blog was getting so many hits. Junmyeon couldn’t call his blog lame when it was such a success. Granted it was a post that was mainly about Exo and that probably explained everything but still.

He’d take what he could get and no one could take that away from him.

“Could you put your phone on silent? That incessant buzzing is starting to annoy me and I’m sleepy.” The Chinese boy muttered from the couch, half his face pressed into a rolled up jacket that was serving as a pillow.

“You know for a future doctor you’re very careless with your health. You should sleep at night like everyone else and get more than three hours of sleep. Now head up.” Junmyeon muttered to Yixing while taking his rolled up jacket and replacing it with an actual pillow. He snapped the jacket out of it’s rolled up form and then laid it gently on Yixing. Jongdae really didn’t understand why he didn’t get that kind of coddling from Junmyeon. Wasn’t he the best friend? This was so unfair.

“I need my phone to be buzzing. It keeps me up to date on what my followers are doing. What if someone gets me more information on Exo? I need to know more so that I can get more followers. I need this.” Really did Yixing and Junmyeon not understand the importance of this? Apparently not, judging by the sleepy look Yixing gave him and the frankly unimpressed look on Junmyeon’s face.

“I could always introduce you to Minseok. He let’s me copy his notes for Biology 101  since I sleep during the lectures usually.” It was muttered into the pillow so for a second Jongdae couldn’t really make sense of the words, but after that second was over the words registered. In his defense the only proper response to that was a scream. (No one would ever convince him otherwise.)

“You know Minseok! Oh my god! How could you hold out on me like this? I thought we were friends!”  

“Not so loud…” Yixing whined and hid his face in his Junmyeon provided pillow. Jongdae strode over to him quickly and stole the pillow. There was no way he could hide from him now. Not when this monumental moment had arrived.

“I need to know as much as possible. We need to meet up with Minseok. Please!” So what if Jongdae sounded a little desperate? He really wanted to be the person at this school who told all the gossip first. There was a certain special something that came along with being the first one. He had to be the first one.

“How about you let him take a nap and then he tries to get you a meeting with Minseok? Fair deal right?” Junmyeon asked but the look in his eyes made it quite clear that it wasn’t really a question but a demand. Jongdae nodded. He was a lot of things but an idiot that went against Junmyeon was not one of them.

“Just don’t be embarrassing alright? Ask questions that are actually important alright?” Yixing said as they approached the table where Minseok was waiting for them.

“I’m trying to report the truth to the general public. I wouldn’t ask questions that aren’t important. Come on Yixing, who do you think I am?”

“And then he asked Minseok if he would rather kiss Kris or Luhan. Again, how were these questions actually relevant? How were they important? How?” Yixing actually sounded something other than tired. Wow.

“I’m guessing that you were beyond embarrassed. Did he at least ask one question actually relevant to Exo as a group?” Junmyeon asked his attention completely focused on Yixing. Why they were acting as if he wasn’t there he didn’t really understand but he was too busy with his update to his Exo post to really care.

The update of information got Jongdae more reblogs and favorites. Just because his friends thought his questions weren’t relevant didn’t mean that his followers would agree with them. The constant buzzing was proof of that. He was so proud of himself for achieving this much so soon. What other reliable reporter could get this kind of info out to his public? No other.

Before he could get more wrapped up in his own brilliance his phone buzzed for that one second longer that meant it was a text not another tumblr notification. He looked down at the number that showed up instead of a name. No one really had his number apart from close friends. People reached him through social media and that’s how he liked it. He unlocked his phone to read it.

You know if you really must write about Exo on your blog you should put more than just the silly questions you asked me earlier. The new members are Byun Baekhyun, Park Chanyeol, Oh Sehun, Kim Jongin, Do Kyungsoo, and Huang Tao. I hope that I count as a reliable source to mention on your blog.

UPDATE:

The new members of Exo are: Byun Baekhyun, Park Chanyeol, Oh Sehun, Kim Jongin, Do Kyungsoo, and Huang Tao. *

What roles they all have within the group is still unknown but it’s easy to assume that Kim Jongin is there to dance and Do Kyungsoo is there to sing. Everyone knows them or at least they know their respective reputations. Regardless this is big. New members are bring lots of change and we all know that. Exo-L please ready your hearts.
