ep.4
Anthology of the Mundane and the Anomalynote: I made some proofreading just now because I re-read it and there were like, a ton of errors. If you've read this chapter already, there's no need to re-read.
One of his friends, Kunpimook or as the young man said himself; Bambam, lends his old pastry books and studies related to baking. He even tossed in a book about business management which Mark deems unnecessary but maybe it could be of use in the near future.
Bambam asks him why he's suddenly into baking (since every one of his friends know that Mark can't cook to save his life thank you very much) and Mark just tells his friend that a spark of interest hit him. Bambam buys the alibi and Mark leaves his friend dorm. He heads home to find Jinyoung cleaning. It also had been one of those things that they talked about in the course of a week; that Jinyoung cleans up the house while he's still jobless with no complete idea of who he is.
Mark announces his arrival and Jinyoung welcome him, helping him carry the books on his arms along the way. They set the books down on Mark's miniscule coffee table.
"I think you'd be able to read these easily since Bambam said they come with pictures to explain things and stuff." Mark says, picking up one book and scans the pages. Jinyoung nods and picks one himself, his eyes taking in images of food, ingredients and whatnots. Mark glances at the man and could read the wonder thats etched on his face.
'Wow Mark you're being creepy stop it please.' he tells himself. He sets down the book and orders chinese takeout because he's too lazy to make something. A few minutes later, the food arrives and both of them eat in comfortable silence. Jinyoung once again, bombards him questions regarding the book, ranging from where the tools where used down to the ingredients. Mark wasn't really the best mentor for cooking related stuff but he does his best to explain everything to the latter.
"My back hurts lately..." Jinyoung suddenly says in between their discussion of sunny side and scrambled eggs. Mark stops and feels rather guilty because maybe it was due to Jinyoung sleeping on the couch. Mark couldn't blame anything else other than his small dingy apartment because it's only made for one person and Jinyoung is a rather big addition to his life. Mark doesn't really want to share a bed with a stranger; much less an amnesiac stranger who literally crashed into his life.
"We can switch from time to time if you want." Mark offers but Jinyoung refuses.
"It's alright, I don't really mind." Jinyoung says.
'Do I have to get him to the doctor or something?' Mark thinks. 'That's too expensive for me right now though.'
By the next day, Mark purchases a box of pain relief patches for Jinyoung. It's cheaper than bringing Jinyoung to the doctor, and besides, it might've been just muscle pain that Jinyoung is denying. He places the patches on Jinyoung's back carefully and instructs Jinyoung to sleep in the bed for now since Mark has to pull an all-nighter for three tests; namely Histology, Physiology and Anatomy.
Jinyoung falls asleep fast, with one of those pastry books in his hand. Mark goes back to his own studies with a can of red bull beside him. There were no breaks in between his test tomorrow (he's dreaded this schedule most) and he dearly hopes that he's not going to mix up the three subjects altogether.
'For the love of animals...' Mark muses as he takes one swig of red bull and continues to write. Jackson has been scolding him about this habit of his but then, as the old saying goes, old habits die hard. Or in Jacksons language, old habits [dice emoticon] [rock emoticon]; he's sent a text like that and Mark could never really forget about it because Jackson has ranting about not finding an emoticon to connote hard (he wanted to put a emoticon but couldn't find it) so he settles it with a rock.
Mark doesn’t realize the time later on and by time he decides to look up from his textbooks to check the time, 8 am and an hour left to go to school for his first test. He quickly bolts to the bathroom and sees Jinyoung stark , taking a bath.
“Oh my god, I’m sorry!” Mark slams the door close and he could feel the blood rushing to his face. It was ridiculous really, how he’s blushing like mad at seeing someone who he’s already seen but he couldn’t help it. His brain was a mess of tissues and body parts he couldn’t tell them apart.
Jinyoung emerges minutes after Mark slams the door close; he looks at Mark and wonders why Mark is red.
“No it’s nothing.” Mark dismisses him and takes a quick shower. He almost stumbles on himself in the bathroom but he manages to get out of the room alive. He quickly leaves and forgets about eating at all and Jinyoung is left to wonder if
