Chapter 1: Meeting Xiumin's friends

Beautiful Sorrow

A young woman stood outside an enormous house and looked up at it. She was extremely beautiful, with straight maroon hair up to her mid-back and a straight fringe, pale snowy skin, pink cheeks and lips. She was slim yet short at 5ft. The brown haired woman wore a white sleeveless crop top, blue high waisted jean shorts and wedge boots. She wore a black beanie and oversized ray ban sunglasses.

“Mi-dongsaeng!” She heard a familiar voice and looked to see her cousin Minseok, Xiumin running over to her. He always treated her as if she was his little sister. He did change but his baby face remained the same. He grinned and so did she; one of the few things they shared. He opened his arms and hugged her tightly. She coughed but nonetheless Mi hugged her cousin back.

“Sa-chon!” She sighed with relief and felt her eyes water; she would call him cousin in Korean. This was an emotional time for her. She sniffed and he pulled away from her. The young man shook his head and wiped the tears off her cheeks.

“Mi-dongsaeng, please don’t cry.” He said with a frown and she shook her head with a smile. His eyes widened and took 2 of her bulky suitcases. “You’re wet from the rain. Let’s get you inside before you catch a cold.”

Xiumin led her into the building and she carried her other big suitcase. Mi closed the door behind her and looked at the ground whist taking her glasses off to reveal grey eyes and long eyelashes. She followed him and they entered the very large living room.

Her grey eyes widened and she felt her heart stop. She gasped and took a step back. Her fingers and toes went numb whilst her whole face turned red.

“Surprise!” There were other boys standing in the living room. They all looked older than her but just by a few years. But she wasn’t shocked because of this; she just realised that the 11 friends her cousin mentioned was EXO.

“Ā KUSO!” *OH !* She exclaimed loudly and their smiles dropped as they stared at her. “T-Tondemonai!” *N-No way!*

“Is she speaking…Japanese?” Suho asked.

“Xiumin is this really your cousin or did you bring a fangirl here?” Kris asked whilst looking at the girl oddly.

“She is my cousin. Introduce yourself.” Xiumin stated and she nodded.

Mi stood straight and clasped her hands together. She bowed down respectfully and the men thought that it was a Japanese bow. She stood up straight and smiled gently whilst fluttering her eyelashes.

“Hello, my name is Mi-Cha Haru Yamamoto, but you can call me Haru. I am Minseok’s younger cousin. It is an honour to meet you all.” She said shyly.

“How old are you?” Sehun asked.

“I’m 20 years old.” Haru answered.

“Why do you speak Japanese?” Suho questioned.

“I’m half Japanese and half Korean.” She stated and nearly all of the guys kept saying wow. She smiled at this and looked at Kris who was staring right into her soul. She gasped at this and looked down.

“Alright Mi-dongsaeng, you go freshen up. We’re going to have dinner together.” Xiumin said and she looked up at him uncomfortably.

“Erm…Sa-chon. Where do I…?” She trailed off quietly and he understood what she was trying to ask.

“You have your own room. Don’t worry.” He rustled her hair and she pouted at him.

She led her to her room which was quite big with a walk in closet as well as a king size bed and bathroom. The room was painted in her favourite colour pink. She smiled at him and thanked him for letting her stay with him and his friends.

When her cousin left, she sighed with a frown and furrowed eyebrows. She felt very homesick.

“Looks like I’m staying with 11 other men and they’re EXO. I don’t think they’re dangerous….” She mumbled and she took out a towel.

Haru went into her bathroom and took a hot shower and clothes. She put on some Japanese music on and started dancing in the shower. When she was finished, she got changed into a white t-shirt jumper, black shorts, and black floral kimono cardigan and thigh length black socks. The brown haired young woman dried her hair with a blow dryer and went out of her room. She then smelt something so delicious and sighed with a smile; so she decided to follow the smell.

She walked downstairs and found the kitchen. Haru walked into the kitchen and saw D.O wearing an apron. She gulped whilst blushing and he turned to her with his big beautiful eyes. He smiled at her and she bowed.

“Gomen! I mean sorry for intruding.” Haru apologised and stood up. He shook his head.

“No need to apologise, it’s okay. Come on in.” D.O said and she walked to him.

“This smells really delicious. I could smell it from my room.” The grey eyed woman stated.

“Thank you. I wanted to cook something special for you.” Haru couldn’t help but blush at this.

“You’re very sweet D.O-oppa. Thank you very much. I haven’t had Korean food for a very long time.” She stated with a small smile.

“It’s alright. I love cooking.” The young man said.

“Is there any way I can help?” Haru asked.

“Haru-dongsaeng, you’re the guest. You should go sit down.” D.O said as he started taking out plates.

“No!” She shook her head. “I’m used to this. I’ll be staying here from now on so that doesn’t make me a guest.”

Haru smiled at him and picked up the plates.

“Mi-dongsaeng, careful they’re heavy.” He stated with wide eyes and she smiled.

“Don’t worry. I will be fine.” She said with a smile and walked out of the room. She walked back into the kitchen and gulped. “Erm, where do we eat?” She asked and he grinned with a tray of food in his hands.

“Come on, I’ll show you.” He said and they exited the kitchen. He led her to the dining room and she put the plates down on the table.

Everyone else entered the dining room and she smiled at them. They told Haru to sit down first and she felt extremely shy. The brown haired young woman sat down with the other members sitting at the sides of the table. They took out the lids of the plates to reveal so much delicious Korean food. Her eyes widened and she grinned. She smelled the food and sighed. The boys noticed this.

“Haru-dongsaeng, are you very hungry?” Suho asked and she turned to them whilst nodding vigorous.

“I’ve never seen so much food in my life and it all looks delicious. I usually don’t eat a lot back in Japan.” She stated.

“If you were dieting, then you don’t have to. Your weight is fine.” Chen said and she shook her head.

“No, I just wasn’t able to eat a lot, not because of weight though.” She frowned.

“Well that’s gonna change we’re going to give you so much food!” Xiumin exclaimed and she smiled at him.

“Thank you, sa-chon.” Her older cousin gave her a lot of food. They all began eating and Haru clasped her hands together. “Itadakimasu!” She exclaimed and they stared at her.

They all started eating and the boys could tell that Xiumin’s cousin loved to eat.

“So, Haru-dongsaeng where in Japan do you come from?” Suho smiled.

“I was born and spent the first 8 years of my life in Hokkaido. I lived in a very small town. Then my family moved to Tokyo.” She answered.

“I want to go Tokyo!” Luhan stated and she grinned.

“Then I will take you there myself.” Haru said.

“We can have Bubble Tea!” Sehun said.

“Your life is Bubble Tea.” Kris mumbled and the mankae of EXO-K glared at him.

“Of course we can have as much Bubble Tea as you want Sehun-oppa.” Haru smiled.

“Yehet!” The young man smiled and suddenly Haru laughed.

“Kawaii!!” She exclaimed. “Yehet, ohorat!”

“We have another Sehun, everyone.” Chanyeol said and they all started laughing.

“Mi-dongsaeng! We have gifts for you!” Baekhyun smiled and she shook her head.

“You all didn’t have to.” Haru stated.

“It’s the least we can do.” Xiumin said as he held her hand.

They all finished their dinner and cleared up. Sehun showed her to the living room and they sat down on the floor. She sat down cross legged and felt a bit nervous around Xiumin’s friends, well boys in general.

“Haru-dongsaeng,” She turned to Sehun. “Do you know what ‘aegyo’ is?” He asked and she slowly shook her head with a blank face.

“No, what is it, Sehun-oppa?” She asked curiously and then everyone came into the living room with bags.

“Aegyo is something you do that is sweet or cute like the gwiyomi song.” He answered.

“Gwiyomi…I used to do that with Sa-chon when we were little.” She stated.

“You should do some aegyo for us!” Baekhyun said and they cheered on. She covered her cheeks hiding her blush.

“Alright alright!” She laughed. “But please don’t laugh. This is very popular in Japan and to be honest this is the only thing I can dance to.”

Haru put the song ‘Ponponpon’ on and started singing it. They stared at her as she danced with a big smile on her face. But then they noticed how well she could sing. It wasn’t a high pitch voice but slightly deep more seductive and y. When she was finished they all cheered for her and she bowed down. She looked at all of them with the widest of smiles.

Her grey eyes fell on Kai who stared at her. When he saw that she caught him staring, he looked down shyly with a smile. Haru couldn’t help but blush at this; he was so cute and shy. For some reason she felt like she really wanted to spend more time with him and get to know him more. Since before she always had this small crush on him.
