sm entertainment and yg entertainment are the most successful companies in the kpop industry, many of the popular influencial bands are constructed by them, from the well known groups, such as big bang, super junior, tvxq, 2ne1, girls generation, to the new hot rookie bands, like exo, winner, ikon, and red velvet.  being the two companies that dominate the asian pop culture, there are bond to be fierce competition between the groups, and it isn't fun to get between the two clashing companies.
