Moonlight glistens off the waves as I kick my feet at the foamy shoreline.

Will I see him tonight?

It’s silly to think,

But against all odds,

We did.

A splash over the indigo water echoes out quietly.

I look,

There he is,

My beloved.

The sapphire blue scales covering his tail sparkle as he breaches the shoreline.

I reach out my hand and take his,

Feeling his saltwater glazed skin against mine.

No words are exchanged,

We know what the other is saying with our eyes only.

I lean down and lightly press my lips to his,

A silent promise that I will wait for him forever,

Searching for a way to bring this merman on land to be with me.
