Fleeting

Description

Two high school students experience a forbidden adventure during the hardest time of their life.

His eyes are dark and deep but there is still some unexplainable warmth in them and suddenly I feel myself falling.

Beginnings...

My name is Cha Yeonju and I am a high school student in the Republic of Korea. I wake up every morning at six, wash my face, eat breakfast, put on my uniform and tie my hair up before leaving for school. I meet my best friend in front of our apartment building; she lives just three floors below me so we walk to school together. It takes about forty minutes by foot before we stroll through the front gates of our school.

Up until this point, my life is like every other kid’s.

When I get to my homeroom I open my books and start the self-study period, which is supposed to last till eight. But no matter how hard I try, I can’t do it for that long. Because after ten minutes, at precisely 7:30, Oh Sehun walks into the classroom.

Foreword

This story isn’t fluff or angst. This isn’t a comedy, nor a tragedy. This is a simple story about life. I’m not even going to try to make you laugh, or cry, because I have before and it hasn’t turned out well. I will simply attempt to put into comprehensible words a batch of thoughts from the creative part of my mind. There is no guarantee as to where they will go, or if they’ll ever get there but I’m here honestly just to enjoy the writing process. If you came looking for a masterpiece, you will be disappointed.

Some time ago a random thought crossed my mind: what if I attempted to write an actually realistic story about what high school life in South Korea is like? I’ve seen my fair share of high school fics here in AFF and most of the time they’re so fluffy and sugar-coated that they make me want to barf. So if that’s what you’re distinctly looking for, you should probably leave right now. However, if you’re interested in getting a second (debatably more realistic) view on what it may be like to study in South-Korea, then keep reading, cause I might be able to give you just that.

Where did this idea come from? No, I never studied in a Korean high school so I have no first-hand experience on what it’s like. But last fall I met a Korean exchange student who is staying here in Finland with my old classmate’s family and I got to talk to him about it. What startled me the most was that when I asked him, a sixteen-year-old boy, what he likes the best about Finland, his immediate answer was education. He then went on to talk about how intense life is like for high school students in Korea.

So I figured that hey, since no one else seems to be doing it, why wouldn’t I give a shot to writing something of quality, whether it be good, bad or ugly? There’s no harm in trying. Granted, I can’t actually guarantee that this story will be any more true to reality than other high school fics that you’ve read about cheerleaders, kingkas and locker rooms (oh, the locker rooms) but whatever the case, I hope that I will be able to give you some food for thought or at the very least, something to enjoy.

A slight disclaimer that I would like to give to those of you who have actually been patient enough to read up until this point, is that I am a lazy- author and also busy with personal life. I know quite well how I want this story to go and where it will hopefully eventually end up but I have, as of the official starting date of this fic, 03/08/2015, only written two chapters, so there is a fair chance that updates might within time get painfully slow. On the bright side, this story is not going to be extremely long, so perhaps I’ll even find it in me to finish this.

Subscribe, comment, you know the gist. Don't be afraid to talk to me via wall posts, PMs etc., I don't bite.

Thank you for reading!

- Banny ^^

Chapter 3: omg this is really really REALLY good! The story starts off really nicely and you have gotten down the aspects of a korean high school pretty well :) Most of the stories here model it off of an american school, but you didn't and I really like that! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Chapter 1: Hello, Im glad that I found this when I was searching for another fanfics to read. Just wanna say that your idea of making this story not so fluffy or not so angst is good because lately (well actually since asianfanfics was created) people oftenly used the same plots like "cold hearted heroin. a fan who really loves her idol. marriage contract" kinda cliché right?

I wish you for the best authornim. May you could write peacefully and people will notice how amazing someone's writing such as like you could be.
