Seulyi opened the dusty, old cookbook she had stored in the back of her pantry.
She just arrived from her fashion company's headquarters and was tired from a long day of arguing with her team manager.
However, today was the day Taeyang was coming back from his world tour and it was the first time seeing him in months.
So she decided to cook him her best meal, which she didn't have because she never cooked anything but ramen noodles.
"Hm...aha!" Seulyi opened up the page to a recipe for kimchi fried rice, which she knew Taeyang loved.
Seulyi rolled her sleeves up and got to work.
After two long hours, Seulyi was a mess. The rice was burnt, kimchi stained the floor, and she was sure that she had red soybean paste under her fingernails and on her nose.
She huffed and washed her hands.
Just then, the front door opened and Taeyang walked inside with his suitcase. "Hone- What the heck happened here?"
Seulyi turned around with a guilty smile on her face. "Welcome back?"
Taeyang laughed and walked over to give her a hug.
"I'm dirty."
"I don't care." He wrapped his strong arms around her slender waist and breathed in her scent that he missed so much. "I missed you."
Seulyi softened and rested her chin on his shoulder. "I missed you too."
She pushed him away, "Go wash up. I'll have dinner ready by then."
Taeyang gave her a doubtful look but she brushed it off and pushed him out of the kitchen.
After a quick shower, Taeyang came into the kitchen and snickered.
Everything was the same; a mess.
Seulyi whined when she opened the rice cooker to see that it was burnt again. "How can I mess this up?"
Taeyang walked up behind her and hugged her. "Should I help you?"
Seulyi bit her lip. He was probably very tired from the flight but she had no choice. She looked back and nodded with a pout.
Taeyang chuckled and put on an apron. "Where's the kimchi?"
"Woah, you should cook more often." Seulyi praised his cooking as she scooped another spoonful of rice and put it in .
Taeyang smiled, "Now that I'm back, I'll have more time. I can teach you too, if you want."
Seulyi eagerly nodded. "A new goal added onto my bucketlist is to make a meal for you without burning the whole kitchen down."
Taeyang gave her an appreciative smile and put the dishes in the sink. "Go wash up. I'll do the dishes."
Taeyang dried his hands on the kitchen towel and walked to the bedroom. He softly chuckled when he saw Seulyi asleep on her side of the bed.
He climbed on and wriggled his arms around her waist and pulled her close.
"You must have been tired. Thanks for the effort, baby."
He pecked her forehead and snuggled closer before closing his eyes and falling asleep.
