Shikshin Love
The school bell rang and the short girl ran out of the classroom immediately, heading out of the school to the cafe nearby. She charged into the cafe, went behind the counter and shut herself in the staffs’ room at the side. Soon, she came out of the room, in her uniform, and start work. Today, it was as busy as ever. Customers keep on swarming in. As soon as one leave, another come in. There is almost no time for her to rest for even a second. As time passes, the customers soon get fewer and fewer, until there is no one left. Letting out a big breath, she sat down on the chair nearby to rest her tired legs. As soon as she did that, the door opens, and a tall girl walks in.
“Hi Sunny.” The tall girl greeted the short one.
“Hi Soo. Why are you so late today?” Sunny replied.
“Doing project in school with Yoong. Where’s your Taengoo?”
“I don’t know. Still school, I think. Where’s your Yoongie?” Sunny asked, giving her a cheeky smile.
“Wh.. what? She’s not mine!” Sooyoung exclaimed, shocked. Her face turns red almost instantaneously and she could feel that it was heating up. A lot.
“Oh? You are blushing.. You like her don’t you?”
“... I don’t know... How does it feel like to like someone?” After a long pause, Sooyoung began to look at the floor, with a confused expression on her face. After listening to what Sunny had said, Sooyoung began to feel more and more certain that she might really likes Yoona. It feels and seems so ridiculous. Then, she suddenly remember about Yuri’s words. Those words that had made her heart ache. So, she decided to continue to find out. “If the person’s family state that the two of us cannot be together, and you feel disappointed, does it count too?”
“Well of course... Why? Did Yuri say something to you?”
“She said that, Yoong will never be in that kind of relationship..”
“So you admit that you like Yoona?”
“Wh.. what?” Sooyoung looked up, with eyes wide open. But soon, she looks back on the floor again, feeling shy and embarrassed. “... Yea.. I guess... It all matched..”
“I heard from Taengoo. She says Yoona doesn’t mind this kind of relationship... So the problem now is Yuri..”
“No.. It’s me.. All these are one-sided...”
“I doubt so.. You want me to help you find out?”
Upon hearing that, Sooyoung looked up once again, and her face is really red. It was as though she had just came out of a sauna. “Wh.. what?! No! Don’t! It.. It’s embarrassing...”
Just then, the tinkling of the bell on the door interrupted the conversation between the two. Sunny looked over to see who was it and saw her girlfriend standing at the door, with a big smile on her face.
“Bunny~ I’m here~” Taeyeon called out, running in with her arms spread open, as though she wants to hug Sunny. She obviously could not do that because of the huge counter that is in between the two.
“Don’t call me that, Taengoo...” Sunny shows her a irritated expression.
“Why? It’s cute. Just like you.” Taeyeon leaned on the counter, smiling. The short girl behind the counter blushed immediately and smiled. She walked towards Taeyeon and gave her a small pinch on her nose. “Cheeky little sweet talker...”
“What are the two of you chatting about?” Taeyeon giggled, before becoming serious again.
“Love. Her love.” Sunny pointed to the tall girl sitting at the side of the counter.
“Oh? You got someone in you heart? Who who who?” Taeyeon hopped over to Sooyoung’s side and asked excitedly. Feeling embarrassed, Sooyoung got out of her seat, and ran out of the cafe after saying goodbyes to the two shorties. Stunned by Sooyoung’s weird actions, Taeyeon turns her head and looked at Sunny with a puzzled look, telling her that she wants the answer.
“Your dear cousin.” Sunny answered, after staring at Taeyeon’s puzzled look for a while.
“Which one? There’s three of them.” And Taeyeon does not seem shocked at all.
“Don’t ask the obvious.”
“Mm.. Yoona?”
“Now we need to find out whether Yoona feels the same.”
“Oh. I got it right? Mm.. I will help. I can go and test her when I meet her. Since Yuri is going to be absent for school for some days, it’s gonna be alright~”
Soon, probably because it is after working hour, people start to come in again. Sunny began to get busy once more, leaving poor Taeyeon to sit at the side and stare into the air. It did not take long for Taeyeon to be asked to get out of the cafe as she is taking up the seats and not eating anything. Midst all the businesses, Sunny constantly peeked outside, worrying for her girlfriend. While outside, Taeyeon saw two familiar figures approaching her.
“Oh? Tae tae~” One of them called out excitedly, waving.
“Oh? Hi Fany, hi Sica.” Taeyeon responded, waving too. The two Americans got closer and chatted with Taeyeon for a while. Taeyeon told them the reason why she is standing outside of the cafe and the two of them looked into the cafe, through the glass door, to see busy Sunny working behind the counter.
“By the way, Tae tae. Here. I got this today from one of my friends.” Tiffany took out a piece of paper and a MP3 from her bag and place them into Taeyeon’s hand.
“What’s this?” Taeyeon asked, looking at the content of the paper.
“Lyric, plus music.” Tiffany pointed to the paper, then to the MP3.
“Ohhh! Thanks a million~!” Taeyeon hugged Tiffany tightly before turning to Jessica with her arms spread out, and stopped immediately. “Oh. Sorry..”
“Anyway, we’re going now. Help me to inform Sunny, not to let her girlfriend stand outside like this in future. What if anyone come by and steal you away? Haha~” Tiffany laughed, holding her girlfriend’s hand and walked away.
Taeyeon let out a small laugh too, before taking her phone out to text Sunny, informing her that she is going to help to make copies of the lyric. On the other hand, being too busy, Sunny is unable to check her phone for the message, and she starts to panic when she realise that Taeyeon is gone. Worried, she excused herself from work and went to the staffs’ room to check her phone. Realising that Taeyeon had left her a message, she let out a sigh of relief and return to work after replying an ‘Okay’ to Taeyeon.
“Uhh? I.. I’m sorry.” Taeyeon bowed repeatedly.
“Oh? You look familiar..”
Hearing that, Taeyeon looked up and saw a familiar face. Indeed, she knows who this person was. It was that erted guy that keep on finding trouble with the twins and Sooyoung. Taeyeon apologises for one more time and turn around to leave, but the erted guy grabbed her arm, stopping her from leaving.
“Wait. Who are you? You look familiar..” The guy asked, checking her out completely.
“I don’t know you. I’m sorry but I’m in a hurry.”
“... Mm... I guess I really don’t know you. But since you are here, why not have some fun with me?” After thinking hard, the guy still could not remember who this girl was. But he was getting a little excited at the fact that he keeps on bumping into cute girls.
“Let go. I’m in a hurry.” Taeyeon struggled to get her arm free from his grip.
“Come on. Let’s...” The guy tighten his grip slightly and said. However, before he could finish his sentence, someone punched him on his cheek, hard, causing him to loosen his grip on the girl and fall down.
“Didn’t she say that she’s in a hurry? Why did you keep on disturbing her?” The attacker, who is a guy, stood in front of Taeyeon and glared at the erted guy.
“Dammit.. who are you?!” The erted guy shouted, as he gets his of the ground slowly. The guy gave him a punch in his stomach almost immediately after he stood up, and send him rolling on the ground again.
“I see no need to tell you that. Come, let’s go.” The guy replied, as he grabbed Taeyeon’s hand and lead her away from the erted guy. After walking a distance, Taeyeon stopped, which cause the guy to stop too.
“Err.. Thanks for helping me just now.. But, can you let got of my hand?” Taeyeon said, pulling her hand away from the guy slightly.
“Uhh?! Sor.. Sorry... I didn’t mean to..” Realising that he is still holding on to her hand, the guy let go immediately, feeling embarrassed.
“It’s okay.” Taeyeon replied, as she noticed that he is wearing the uniform of her school. “But.. you are..?”
“Oh. I’m Yong Hwa. Year 3 class A.”
“Ahh.. I’m Taeyeon. Nice to meet you. Thanks again for earlier.”
“You’re welcome. Anyway, aren’t you in a hurry?”
“No. Not really. Just trying to get away from that guy.”
“I see.”
Taeyeon glanced at her watch and realised that it had been quite sometime since she left the cafe. Without doubt, Sunny must be worrying for her. “Err.. I guess I gotta go. See you next time.”
“Oh. Okay. Bye.”
Leaving the guy alone, Taeyeon increased her speed as she walked down the streets. As the cafe came into sight, she realised that the lights are off and there is no one inside, except for the lone figure behind the counter. Seeing that, Taeyeon runs towards the cafe and went in. Hearing the jingles from the bell, Sunny looked up instantly and her tense expression starts to relax.
“What took you so long?! I was so worried... And you didn’t even message me to tell me anything..” Sunny said, frowning.
“I’m sorry, my dear... Some troubles on the way back..” Taeyeon went through the small door at the side of the counter and hugged Sunny.
“What? Are you okay?” Sunny got out of Taeyeon’s embrace quickly and checked her body for injuries.
“Yea. Don’t worry. A kind soul helped me.” Taeyeon stopped Sunny’s hands and pull her in for another hug. The two of them continue to hug for a while before Sunny pulls away again.
“I’m going to get change. Take a seat first.”
“I’m coming in with you~”
“No thank you, ByunTaeng.”
“Come on~ It’s not the first time anyway~” Taeyeon pushed Sunny into the staffs’ room, closing the door behind her. The cafe, once again, became quiet.

“Ajusshi, I want 8 more copies of this, thanks.” Taeyeon passed the paper to the owner of the bookstore. After a short while, the copies are ready. The owner passed the 9 pieces of paper to the short girl and took the money that she left on the top of the counter. On her way back to the cafe, Taeyeon looked through the lyric while listening to the music on the MP3 that Tiffany gave her. Without realising, she is singing the song, along with the music. Being too engrossed in the song, Taeyeon did not realise that there is someone in front of her and bumped into that person.“Uhh? I.. I’m sorry.” Taeyeon bowed repeatedly.
