Things Fall Apart

Description

None of them will ever forget the sickening sound that Mark's head makes when it hits the solid floor, failing to land properly after a flip.

Foreword

I have no idea why I went to such a sad place with this...but it's not all sadness, I promise! I seem to be abusing poor Mark a lot lately, though... T_T

WARNINGS for severe bodily trauma and the grief/hurt/comfort that follows -- descriptive injury and time spent in a hospital. Please do not read if you are sensitive to this.

A couple swear words are used, just so you know. Also, I'm not trained in medicine, so I'm sure there are inaccuracies on that front.

Mostly an exercise in writing from a POV that isn't Mark or Jackson...but Markson still somehow shows through. -_-;;

Chapter 1: Really tried my best to not cry... and I succeeded! YAS! One of the few sad fics that I read that I didn't cry. XD But I almost freaked out... almost. Awesome characterization! I wonder when I can ever do that kind of stuff perfectly. Great story!

Imagining this completely broke me and I hope this never EVER happens. Just the thought of it sends shivers up my spine. I had to collect myself for a little bit before I could write a review, because it was a little too real at times.
First off, I can't praise you enough on the characterization of each of them. The little ways in which you wrote not only their individual traits, but also their unique team dynamic really made the story great. How Jaebum bottled up his own feelings for the sake of the team, how Jinyoung was the first to break out of his grief in order to take care of everyone, how Jackson clings on to those around him and the only thing that reminds him of Mark, how Youngjae is the one who stops them from being irrational, how Yugyeom helps gives him an extra hand to keep them in check, and last but not least, how Bambam puts on a cheerful mask in order not to make anyone worry. All of these little traits can be seen in the group in real life or have been discussed in interviews. It's wonderful how you put it together.
I also want to say that you deserve extra brownie points for how you wrote the friendship between Jaebum and Mark. Their friendship works in such subtle ways, it's hard not to get it wrong sometimes. Since they are both quiet members, people tend to forget how close they actually are (although we are seeing a lot more lately). I loved that you noticed that Mark has the same effect on Jaebum's anger that Jinyoung does, and included that in. I thought I was the only one who noticed during IGOT7, haha.
Thank you for writing a balanced story and including all the wonderful relationships all the members have without undermining any. It was a wonderful read :)
