Chapter 4

SUNGMIN’S Point-of-view:

It’s like rubbing salt to a wound.

I thought I could get away with what I’m feeling right now but when they entered the room, I couldn’t help but have butterflies in my stomach.

When I saw her face, more up close compared to last night, I had a hard time concentrating. Her face was so innocent and gentle. She was definitely my type of girl, or at least that’s what I think.

But when I looked at Donghae and saw that he called her, my heart sunk and I immediately felt lonely. And the way she looked shocked but happy to see Donghae definitely made me feel like something pierced through my heart.

Because of this feeling, I didn’t even respond to Yoobin properly. She was so excited to see me but I just faintly smiled at her.

Get a hold of yourself, Min.

Still Sungmin’s point-of-view:

It was already break time but for the first time my friends were all busy because they wanted to spend their break with the respective girls they met last night.

I was left alone inside the classroom but when I looked at the back, Yoobin was eating her sandwich alone. I guess it’s not only me, huh?

When I looked at her, I caught her looking at me.

“Hello, Sungmin oppa…” She lightly said.

“Hello Yoobin” I replied.

“Oh! You still remember my name?” She asked, putting down her sandwich.

“Of course, how could I forget?” I simply said.

There was a moment of silence.

“Why are you spending break time alone?” She asked.

“Well, as you have seen, my friends are hanging out with your friends.” I replied.

“But why are you not eating?” She asked. I know she’s just trying to create a conversation.

“I’m not in the mood. But I’ll ask you the same question. Why are you alone?” I asked.

YOOBIN’S Point-of-view:

Because I was expecting you would ask me to join you. I said to myself.

I don’t have the courage to say that to him.

“Same reason. My friends are hanging out with yours.” I replied.

I know I may seem to be a hopeless girl because the guy that I like doesn’t even have any interest in me but I still won’t give up.

And yeah, I noticed how he looks at Sunye unnie.

“Do you mind if I ask you something, oppa?” I said.

“What is it?” He replied.

“Do you…by any chance….like Sunye unnie?” I asked. I know this is the only way that I could be close to him. Even though it means that I have to be the one to get them together, it doesn’t matter.

His expression suddenly changed.

“What makes you think that?” He said. Trying to sound cool.

“Oh oppa, the way you looked at her a while ago says it all.” I replied with a smirk.

“Was I really that obvious?” He said with the I-should-have-known-look.

Cute, indeed.

“A little.” I said then we laughed together.

He stood up and took the seat right next to me.

“No one should know about this, okay? Especially Donghae.” He said.

“I promise, oppa!” I enthusiastically said.

“A promise is not enough. We should do a pinky swear!” He said. He can really be feminine at times.

He held out his hand and I held out mine as well. As our pinkies hooked and out thumbs touched, I couldn’t help but feel an electric jolt inside me.

“There! Now I have a girl best friend that I can tell my secrets to!” He happily said.

Best friend. It’s the closest thing I can ever be for him.

HEECHUL’S Point-of-view:

“So Ahn Sohee… you think I wouldn’t know what I would do with your name?” I said.

It was our break and I politely asked her to eat with me. Now, we were at a corner table of the cafeteria, trying to make a conversation despite of the noise.

“Uhh…” She didn’t know what to say.

“Let me guess, you expected that I would search it on the internet, right?” I was the one doing the talking.

“I guess so…” She simply replied.

“Well hold your horses because I’ve done something much bigger.” I said.

“And what is that?” She replied.

“Hello Ahn Sohee born on the 27th of July! With the height of 163cm, a weight of 43kg, blood type AB, studied at Korea Middle School before, once tore off a knee ligament because of riding a motorcycle and loves the color pink! Oh! And your twitter is WGsohee. Do you want me to go on?” I said with a smirk.

“Heechul oppa, that is scary.” She said.

“Why? What’s scary?” I said, trying to look almighty.

“It seems that you had me investigated!” She said.

“Well, not really. I just asked my butler to look for information about you.” I replied.

“That’s it! You had me investigated!” She retorted back.

“Think what you want to think but I just did everything so I could still find you after last night. But looking at the situation now, I don’t think I don’t need to look for more information because I could just ask any questions from you!” I noticed that my sentences are really long while hers were only one-liners.

“Well, what do you want to know about me, oppa?” She asked with a smile.

“Many things! But I have a question that I have been dying to ask since we parted ways last night.” I said.

“What is it?”

“Do you promise to answer it truthfully?”

“Okay..”

“Will you be disappointed if I didn’t contact you after last night?” I asked. Somehow, I assumed that she will be after noticing that she was still wearing the pink beaded bracelet that I gave her last night.

KYUHYUN’S Point-of-view:

“I really didn’t expect this.” Lim said.

“I was expecting to meet you some other time but not like this! Who would have thought that we would be classmates?” I said in disbelief.

“I know, right? But this means something, oppa.” She said with a smile.

“What is that?” I asked.

“I thought you would already know.” She said. She sounded like she was disappointed.

“Don’t worry, Lim. I haven’t forgotten. If you want to meet me again, then we can let fate decide.” I said, reading from my hand.

“Kyuhyun oppa! Did you take a bath this morning?!” She said, laughing.

“Of course I did! It’s just….it’s hard to wash off!” I said, embarrassed. Why did I even have to read it from my hand?! I could have just said it without looking.

“Really, oppa? Is that the only reason?” She said, trying to tease me.

“Yeah! Don’t think of other stuff, okay?!” I hurriedly said. This is too embarrassing.

“Okay, okay! Whatever you say, oppa!” She said then continued to laugh.

“Now that fate has made its decision, don’t you think it’s time that we do our part?” I said.

“And how should we do that?” She asked, smiling.

“Uhhmmm, maybe we can start by exchanging numbers?” I smirked.

“I guess.” She said then she took out her phone.

I took out mine as well.

“After exchanging numbers, what do you think we should do to repay fate’s blessing to us?” She said while typing in her number in my phone.

“Well, let’s start with little steps. Maybe, I can buy you lunch now?” I said with a smile.

We were like kids, playing around.

“Maybe..” She said then flashed a shy smile at me.

LEETEUK’S Point-of-view:

“Oppa, I like that, that and that!” Yenny and I were in the cafeteria and I promised her that I would buy her lunch. I didn’t expect that she would want to eat basically half of the cafeteria’s menu.

“Are you sure you can eat all of that?!” I looked at her with my eyes wide open.

“Don’t worry about my figure, oppa! Even though I eat like a pig, I don’t gain weight.” She said.

“Who said I was worrying over your figure!” I nervously said.

“Teukie oppa, of course I want to be in level with your figure! I know you have that abs even though I haven’t seen them! It will be a pressure for me to keep up with you!” She said enthusiastically while we were waiting for our turn at the counter.

Did she just praise me?

“How do you know I have abs?!” I asked, confused.

“Well, if the picture wasn’t photoshopped then I’ am certainly sure you have a six-pack.” She said without looking at me.

“What picture!?” I was panicking.

“Oh Teukie oppa, you are so cute when you’re nervous! Let’s say I did a little research. You seem to be an internet sensation.” She said, not looking at me again.

Oh… so she looked at my homepage, huh? I post a few pictures of mine there and I never expected that people would notice it and eventually people started to anticipate for the next picture that I will post.

“You researched about me, huh?” I said with a smug expression.

“Don’t think too highly of yourself, Teukie oppa! Is it wrong to search for a little information about you?” She suddenly faced me with a brave expression.

“Then it means that you’re interested to get to know me more.” I said, returning back her expression with the you-have-nothing-on-me look.

“So? What seems to be so wrong?” She replied back. I can feel the intensity of our conversation.

“Then it probably means that you like me, huh? Come on, admit it!” I know I was being a jerk but it was fun playing with her.

“SO? WHAT IF I LIKE YOU?! DO YOU HAVE ANY OBJECTIONS?!” She retorted. Whoa! Where did she get the courage to say that?

I stared at her with a smirk. After a few seconds, I think she just realized what she said.

“Oh no…” She said then she buried her face in her palms. She shrieked.

“Oh I hate you Teukie oppa for making me accidentally say it!” She said.

I just laughed and patted her shoulder.

Don’t worry, Yenny. You just made me the happiest man alive.

DONGHAE’S Point-of-view:

“Are you sure you don’t want to eat anything? Or at least drink something?” I asked her.

“Yeah, I have a vacuum thermos with orange juice, remember?” She showed her red thermos to me once again.

I asked Sunye to eat lunch with me and she said that she has a packed lunch prepared by her grandmother. I wanted to be the one to buy food for her but maybe next time.

“What about you? Won’t you buy your food?” She asked me.

We were under a tree behind the school because she said she wanted to eat here. After asking to spend time with her during lunch, I realized that Sunye was definitely a good daughter and she was very earth friendly.

“Don’t mind me! I’d rather spend my time here with you than waste time lining up at the cafeteria.” I replied.

“You’re cheesy, you know? Do you always talk like this to other girls you have met before? It seems like you’re the suave type that says anything to swoon a girl’s heart.” She said with a watchful eye.

“No I don’t! I just have a lot of confidence! That’s all! And I’m telling the truth! You can ask my friends and my parents! I’ am a good child.” I defensively said.

“Okay, okay. I believe you! No need to interview all of the people that are close to you.” She said then laughed.

“Glad that you believe me.” I simply replied.

“If you’re not going to buy something for yourself, then I have no choice to share my lunch with you.” Her reply surprised me.

She’s willing to share her lunch with me?!

“No, no! It’s your food and you have to eat! Don’t mind me!” I immediately said.

“Don’t be such a shy one! My grandma made a lot of kimbap! I can’t finish this! Come on, it’s okay!” She encouraged.

“But it’s not right that a girl provides the food for the first date!” I replied back.

Wait, did I just say the word “date”?

“First date?” She asked me, confused.

“That didn’t come out right. Just forget that I said that.” I said then I looked down.

“Don’t worry. On our date tomorrow, I’ll let you treat me.” She said, with a smirk.

“Date?! Tomorrow?!” I repeated.

“You heard me. Now, let’s eat lunch!” She happily said. I know that her smile means something else.
