AUTHOR'S NOTES: 

an interstellar-inspired short. comments and constructive criticism are welcome. thank you to friends p, x, and j for cheering me on and being so so helpful about this piece of tiny writing. i love you guys a whole lot. 

warning: this fic is rated an nc-16 for brief language. 

edit: i'm reading through this again roughly 11 months later and i must say i feel quite differently this piece of writing now. i guess perception changes after you read something with added experience and knowledge. i'm also unashamed to say i've watched interstellar 2 times over again in the elapsed time. happy reading, everyone!

i was like trying to match all the characters to their counterparts in interstellar and yoU'RE A LIL AREN'T YOU. AREN'T YOU. tbh even watching people go to space makes me feel angsty; like the whole concept of space scares the out of me. anyway

jongdae is my numba 1 baE AND CHENKAI WORKS WELL (btw i dare you to go rewrite the whole interstellar in this AU GO ON SMARTASS GO DO THIS AHAHAHAHA) but asjashsadhakjj this felt like a small snapshot into their lives and interstellar AU works so well I creyyy???

i haven't watched interstellar, and, i'll confess, i didn't listen to that song while reading. i didn't really need to because if i'd gotten any more angsty undertones i would have cried a river and flooded my dad's entire house - garage included.

Chapter 1: ok I like how luhan is quite smart in here mm HAHAH and also how I basically got a warning??? when I saw how you described minseok it was like " oh no I bet the same happened to whoever's important to jongin right right RIGHT" ((I will not admit I've watched interstellar WITH YOU NONETHELESS ALLOW ME TO COMMENT THIS FROM THE (fake) POV OF SOMEONE WHO HASNT WATCHED IT OK))

I loved how jongin responded to the messages jongdae left for him, almost as if he was talking to jongdae face to face, giving responses to a message 23 years old. It really gave me a feeling of loss, desire for time to turn back; almost as if he was trying to slot himself into a moment long past, long gone.

in the second message jongdae says he's 40 right and that message was dated 8 years ago so does that mean he's 48 now DOES IT HUH ((bc this means jongin still stands a chance right RIGHT RIGHT DONT U DARE ANGST ME SO MUCH))

"What?" Jongin says, distracted by poster of a fried chicken store advertising a deal of 15% off for every 10 pieces of chicken purchased. <--- srsly woman gdi also jongin excuse u but JONGDAE >>>>>>>> CHICKEN OK
"Someday, i'm going to adopt a child like that, and make her kimbap rolls and pickled radish for her field trip lunch." <---- I'm sorta hoping jongdae did adopt a child by himself ((filling in the forms with jongin's name as the father even though he's lost in space)) just to fill the emptiness, fulfill his desires and idk ;;

AND BAEKHYUN YOU ER JONGIN CAME BACK. JONGDAE LOOOOOK YOUR BABY BOO IS BACK OKAY DONT EVER LISTEN TO BAEKHYUN. also very glad that although it took jongin 23 years to keep his promise HE AT LEAST KEPT IT

and now to stretch this AU further I hope jongin finds another black hole or whatever and turn back time HOHOHO GO BACK TO YOUR JONGDAE REPAY HIM ALL THE HOURS YOU'VE LOST
