threats
Dae Gu reached up as he let out a long, irritated exhale, and pinched the bridge of his nose before closing his eyes. Yet again they were stuck on a restless case. Each time they thought they'd get a lead and end up solving the case, they were slapped in the face with a dead end. Like the rest of the team, Dae Gu grew restless - both physically and mentally. Spending at least 2 days in a row without sleep staring at the computer screen and/or looking at various papers that didn't help. It was becoming annoying and he was an inch close on throwing the laptop across the room.
"Partner." He heard the familiar chime of his childhood friend - or should he say aquantince? They weren't really friends since they argued more than anything. Dae Gu opened his eyes and looked up at her. She blinked down at him before smiling, extending a paper bag to him.
Dae Gu's eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced at the bag then at her, as if she was handing him poison. "Bwoya?" He muttered, slight irritation swinging around in his tone. But that didn't bug her. At all.
"Dinner!" She chimmed cheerfuly. Dae Gu blinked. Dinner? He sat up in his chair and pulled his sleeve back a little to check the time on his wrist watch. 6:01PM. He groaned. Make that 3 nights.
"You brought us dinner?" Gook grinned, hope springing in his tired eyes and it was quite obvious on what he thought was happening; Soo Sun caring for him in a non-friendship-but-a-romantic-type-of-way gesture. Dae Gu resisted the urge to scoff.
Soo Sun blinked and turned her head, looking over at Gook. "Us? Aniyo." She acted very puzzled on why he even speculated that, making Dae Gu perk an eyebrow.
"She really is dense." He thought to himself. The hope in Gook's eyes faded and he frowned before lowering his head on to his desk. Taeil sneaked a glance at him and slided over there to him, still seated in his chair.
"If you want, I can go get some fo-"
"No." Gook raised his head, a sudden tenseness in his voice. Taeil blinked and leaned back a little as Gook's expression hardened a little. "I'll go get food for myself." With that said and done, he got up out of his chair and walked away. Dae Gu blinked and watched him leave before he looked over at Taeil, who frowned a little to himself and slowly made his way back over to his chair. Dae Gu glanced up as the paper bag was shoved in his vision, seeing Soo Sun's cheerful expression but slightly glaring eyes. He sighed and snatched the bag from her hands.
"Taeil-ssi," Soo Sun called out as she plopped down in her chair. "What's going on with you and Gook?" Dae Gu looked up at Taeil as he began unpacking the items in the bag. Taeil shifted a litte and looked down at his hands.
"It's like he's ignoring you like the plague or something." Dae Gu added, his spirits lifting up slightly as he pulled out 2 bottles of banana milk.
Taeil shifted again. "It's a...long story." He avoided. "I'll tell you guys later, or maybe I won't even have to."
"Meaning?" Soo Sun persisted, her eyebrow raising.
"Either it's solved or you'll find out without me telling." Taeil exhaled and straightened up his papers. "Now, let's continue working on this. I think I'm getting closer." Soo Sun blinked and perked up then immediately began asking questions on what Taeil discovered as Gook returned to his seat, bags of chips an a drink in his hand from a vending machine. Dae Gu looked down as his phone began to vibrate in his pocket. He fished it out and looked at the I.D. Chief Kang. Dae Gu got up and went around a corner before picking up.
"Hello?"
"Dae Gu, how are you and your team doing on the case?"
"Still not any progress." Dae Gu sighed. "I've checked all of the security cameras and haven't really caught anything. Though Taeil says he thinks he might be close."
"...I think this murder case involved the same man who killed your mother."
Dae Gu's eyes widened and he looked around to see if anyone was coming. "Jinjja? You're talking about Hyung Cheol?!" He exclaimed.
"Nae." Chief Kang confirmed. "I don't know how or why but I just have that feeling. Either way, Dae Gu, you better watch your back. He's close."
Dae Gu swallowed thickly. "Arasso...Arasso, I'll be careful now. Thank you." He hung up and sighed deeply, leaning against the wall. He looked to the side and began walking back to his desk.
"Dae Gu! Taeil caught something!" Soo Sun called out, waving her hand. He looked up, seeing Gook and Soo Sun behind Taeil. Dae Gu immediately made his way over there and leaned over a little to examine the screen-shot presented on the lap top. His eyes widened and he gasped softly. Chief Kang was right.
"That's..." He mumbled softly and they looked at him, confusion written on their expressions. "...him."
"Cho Hyung Cheol." A sudden voice boomed from behind them. They turned all turned around in alarm.
"Hyung Cheol? You mean the guy who attacked Dae Gu?!" Gook exclaimed.
"And the top suspect in school nurse murder case." Panseok nodded, folding his arms across his chest. "It's weird really. I don't get why he'd suddenly show up. He has no ties with the victim."
Dae Gu paused briefly. "Wait...didn't the victim say he was going to testify?" He asked. Panseok
