Chapter 3
Not So Different
Even though you had a rough guess on what it was, you were still reluctant to believe until you get a confirmation from it. When it made the first nod, you waited anxiously for the second one.
Please nod the second time, ensure me that you are a harmless canine instead of what I suspected.
But it never came. No matter how long you waited, it never came. After the first nod, it just sat there and stared at you with those curious eyes. Seeing the slight fear flickering in your eyes, the canine whimpered and looked at you with puppy eyes. Inching closer, it nudged its fluffy head under your palm, assuring that it meant no harm.
Upon the contact, you stiffened and it did not went unnoticed by the wolf. It nudged your hand even more, urging you to pet it.
Deep down you knew that wolves had the potential to kill, it was in their nature, but it was hard to believe that this cute puppy right in front of you being so affectionate and caring would be able to kill human beings. You retracted your hand, needed some thorough thinking. Your instinct and logical thinking was rebutting each other.
Your logical thinking was urging you to just run to somewhere safe or just chase the poor wolf out. Your safety mattered the most.
