I honestly think the prequel/spin-off is better. More time is focused on the development of their relationship (not having to focus on 2 Chanyeols and 2 Kyungsoos probably helps) and personally I think the author enjoyed themselves more than when they wrote the first one. Like I could feel their enjoyment even if the chapter wasn't happy...if that makes sense. There's also less time focused on "special elements" (to me this is a very specific area/topic that requires research and is good at showcasing the author's intelligence. In 10080, this would be the number writing...I am blanking on what it's called...), so I enjoyed that. The story doesn't really need a "special element" because the author is great with characterizing and interactions.
