A Peril To Remember ~Night 1~

Wolf Academy (늑대 아카데미)

Tell us how this chapter is in the comments, we'd really like to hear the feedback! Oh, and as a lil' treat for waiting [sorry about that, kkaebsong..] this chapter is quite long! Yehet!!

"Welcome to this pack of wolves, where we just had created it today and nobody seems to notice that there are traces of wolves in this school!" Kris elbowed Tao in the rib for saying such ridiculous things. "Bad impression, Tao, bad impression." Kris, don't be so mean to me!

Opening the wooden door as the sounds of the creaks echo throughout the hallway, Kris and Tao were continuing on in Minseok's and Luhan's perilous adventure. Currently, they felt a sense of danger tingle throughout their bodies, but they also felt excitement and lots of actions that were going to take place. The bright light emitted into all of the fours' eyes as the sounds produced inside the room had only gotten 100 times louder.

Wolf-hybrids of all kinds of sizes were wandering across this room, hanging out with different groups and sharing a joke with one another. Some howled for fun, while others were running like maniacs in the distance. Luhan had counted 8 wolf-hybrids, with the exception of him, Minseok, maybe even Kris and Tao.

"Hey, Tao, who are these two?" A tall figure surrounded them, his smile crooked and his ears enormously large. His fur looked a little bit lighter than Minseok's, and supposedly had been uncut, since the hair of his ears and tail almost covered both Minseok's and Luhan's entire faces. "Oh, hey Chanyeol. These are two additional members, Minseok and Luhan." Minseok was startled, and Luhan was just suspicious of them. How did they even recognize their names?

"Hold on, cold guy." Luhan spat out. Kris knew it was meant for him, so he turned around to face Luhan while the others, including Chanyeol, just watched peculiarly. "How did you even know we could transform into wolves in the first place? Did you even see us transform? And how did you know our na-" Kris pinched Luhan's lips abruptly, causing Luhan to moan in frustration and earning Minseok a little giggle.

"Okay.. I asked the principal about the new students, so he said there were twelve people going to be admitted. He showed me the list of names (there were twelve), and I saw the names Minseok and Luhan. I already saw all the other newbies like me before you two came, so I assumed that you two were left to be introduced."

"So how did you know we were wolves? You didn't answer that quest-"

"Coincidentially, all the other newbies had wolf powers when I met up with them and I noticed something strange about their eyes. So, we decided to meet up occasionally in this room, and while me and Tao were walking, we saw bright flashes of blue and white light beneath the open space of your door. Who has the power of snow or that stuff, anyway? Your frost slapped my cheek in the face." Minseok blushed slightly and turned away.

Luhan nodded approvingly. "Well, thanks for telling me now than before. I should've learned it while we were walking!" he said sarcastically, but also in an angry tone. Kris just sniggered and rolled his eyes. "You're welcome."

"Hi there! I'm Chanyeol!" The taller being now walked up to just Minseok and Luhan, hugging them to death and squealing at how adorable both of them looked. "Wah! You didn't transform yet! Come inside, quickly!" Kris immediately shut an locked the door with an engraved metal key that he removed from his pants pocket.

What Minseok noticed was that the key was rustic with the tints of copper and metal, but what really made it intriguing was the design of a wolf that appeared at the handle. The eyes of the wolf seemed to glisten with a bright red tint the more the brightness had reflected upon it. The fur of the wolf was the color of pure snow, it's texture shimmering upon directions. There were glistening snowflakes surrounding the wolf like he had a barrier that protected him. For Minseok, why did this key's design look so familliar before?

"Hey, baozi, what are you looking at?" Minseok turned around to see that now the wolf-hybrid Luhan was staring at him intently, wondering what he was looking at. Shaking his head involuntarily, Minseok replied, "There's this key that Kris was holding earlier. It looks familliar." Luhan poked his head to peek secretly at the key that was literally about to fall out of Kris' pocket while he didn't notice. Cold guy, you idiot!

Minseok changed into his werewolf form as well. And while doing that, Luhan noticed this..

What really made it confusing was that Luhan had seen a different perspective of what the key represented. There were streaks of neon blue upon its chest while its eyes were shining an electric cyan. The wolf pose was different as well- it seemed like the wolf was glaring exactly at Luhan. There were different rows of objects across the wolf, like it seemed like the wolf was moving the objects on his own. His fur was delicately grey besides the streaks. Why did this happen, anyway?

"Do you mean the wolf with the cyan eyes? Seems pretty cool to me." Luhan shrugged it off, pretending it was not important, but he knew that it was. Maybe he found the importance in the pit of his stomach or something like that. "What do you mean, cyan eyes? I mean, I saw the wolf, but it had red ones." Now they both knew something was going on with that key.

"We'll find out later. Act like we never saw that key." Another wolf-hybrid stared at Luhan suspiciously, like he had heard everything that Luhan had spoken about a moment ago. His fur wasn't as bright as Luhan's fur was, but it seemed to be a little bit darker than his. Walking up with a straight, solemn face, he tugged him by his collar while Luhan growled back in annoyance. "What key are you exactly talking about?"

"Nothing, now zip it." The hybrid smirked menacingly, his eyes clouded with a piercing red. "Now watch it. I'll let you off the hook for once, but I'll also keep an eye on you." Chanyeol, who was listening to their conversation, tried his best to supress his laugh, and others just watched in curiousity. What a stalker, Oh Sehun.

♦♦♦♦

The last few minutes just passed like that. Nobody started speaking after the threatening and funny words that Sehun had said to scare Luhan. Stares, audible coughs, fumbling around in their current states, and moving around were all the more uneasy to bear with. Some snickers were spread across the room when someone had attempted to make everyone laugh, but it had just ended after a few seconds. Not taking anymore of this unbearable silence, a being sitting next to Chanyeol just grumbled and screamed. "I can't take it! Let's do something before we die of boredom!!"

"Baekhyun, don't be so rude.." A quiet but hollow voice replied. Heads turned to face to a hybrid with heavy eyelids and a weak smile, looking as if he was not doing anything. Baekhyun sighed and continued to speak. Raising an eyebrow, Lay shook his head, preferring to sleep in an uncomfortable position where he sat. Slowly cringing in irritation because of Lay, Baekhyun accidentally shot off a blast of pastel yellow light on the ceiling out of his palm.  The ceiling chipped off some rust and wood. "Uh.. oops." Minseok assumed he had the power of light.

"You're an idiot, Baekhyun-ah!" Chanyeol accidentally gripped his hands a little too tightly, causing fire to be produced, the dancing flames sizzling around both of his hands. Everyone widened their eyes, because the remains of the fire that had stopped had now gotten on Baekhyun's sweater. "Yah! Stop it, put it out, Suho, please put it out!" The name by Suho rushed over to Baekhyun and moved his hands around like he was clasping a ball. Eventually, after that happened, water had formed into a sphere, the little waves rotating gently to support the rest of its form. Initiating enough to stop the fire on Baekhyun, he released it, the fire now gone.

"Control it more, Chanyeol, so that you don't catch other people on fire." While Chanyeol grumbled in displeasure, a hole had now appeared on Baekhyun's clothing, but overall, he was unharmed. Both calmed down and sat in their chairs while a bunch of heard chuckles could be heard from Kris and Tao. Impatient, Tao complained to Kris. "Let's see that again! Haha!" And with that, Tao snapped his fingers loudly, while the clock inside the room ticked its way counter-clockwise until the moment where Chanyeol set Baekhyun's clothing on fire. Concealing his giggles, Tao smiled oddly.

"Ah, Sehun, geez, why're you blowing so hard? Don't cause a tornado or a wind storm here." The one filled with boredom and ignorance feigned their advice while blowing on his hand. Slowly but surely, everybody could see that wind were composed, causing chills to the hybrids next to Sehun as he blew harder. Trying to prevent the silence from occuring, another one had teleported from his chair all the way to Sehun as he smacked him in the head playfully. "Kai hyung, will you stop that?"

Kai absentmindedly continued to teleport in all different places surrounding Sehun while everyone watched in amusement. "Sehun, until you stop catching attention because you want to, then Kai will stop!" Then Sehun lost his temper and sulked, slamming his hands on his lap and pointed to another wolf. "Bother Kyungsoo, then I'll really stop. I'm the maknae, after all." So he's the youngest, huh.. Luhan thought, that's why he's acting so much like a baby.

Sehun rubbed the place where Kai had smacked his head, whimpering that it hurt so much. Turning to face Lay, he made a cute face, pleading in a tiny voice for him to do something, but Minseok couldn't make out what was it. Sitting up, he surrounded the sore part, moving his fingers that caused a soft green glow to be visible. The glow somewhat shimmered, reflecting the part of his head as the pain instantly flew away. "Thanks Lay hyung!" he said sweetly.

Minseok distinguished the names of the people he had heard of and their powers so far. Baekhyun with light, Chanyeol with fire, Suho with water, Sehun with wind, Kai with teleportation, and Lay with healing. (He didn't know about Tao yet.) Six members so far, and Minseok wondered what the next members are going to do. This didn't seem so bad.. actually, he started to like their presence.

Suddenly, footsteps of an unknown prescence could be heard while everyone stood at the same spot, unmoved. There were devious laughs and unusual deep, raspy voices that suddenly echoed throughout the room as Baekhyun snapped his fingers as the light switch deactivated. Motioning everyone to hide in a safe, unnoticed place, Kris pushed all the members where he thought no one could find them. Unfortunately, the sounds were all the more too clear to be heard. While Minseok and Luhan squished together uncomfortably in the same corner, they both heard the beings voice this:

"I smell werewolves. I knew this place had a mystery to it."

"Don't be so sure! We need to find out first. I feel as if it is coming from that room!"

"Should we tell him? He's the one who told us to search anyway."

Clasping the doorknob, one of the beings opened the door, sticking his head out. Suspiciously sniffing his nose like he was another wild animal, he also growled in dismay, which totally wasn't a good sign for all the members to perk their ears up to this sound. "Come on. We'd better look somewhere else. I'm getting a certain vibe here." Closing the door, the darkness now filled the room while all members negatively filled the atmosphere with silence once again.

Baekhyun quickly snapped his fingers once again as the switch the light. Minseok already knew that he was going to encounter some troubles this school year.. and, oh, was it going to be great. Wrapping his arm around the tiny waist, Luhan squeezed Minseok tightly, snarling in uncertainty and a need to protect this baozi of his. While everyone was watching Minseok blush crazily, Kris sighed, thinking about what events were going to occur next. Perhaps.. are they wolves, too?

Suho discontentedly shook his head, promptly telling everyone to change back into their human forms. "This isn't good.. suspicions are already made because of us, and I already don't want anymore trouble. C'mon, let's go to the dining hall, and try your best not to notice anything." Obediently did as they were told, the members kept their mouths shut and never said a word after they quickly changed back into their human forms- well, besides a perplexed Luhan who was buzzing around Minseok, asking him questions that Minseok knew could be answered, but not at a time like this.

The time was now an hour past the bell, and students who sat in the dining hall were almost ready to finish their appetizers and main courses. When all the boys arrived, they had seen that an empty table with plates of untouched food had been set there, and they sat there, calling this table as their own. Luhan was as hungry as could ever be and chowed down straight away after he sat. Sometimes, he bothered Minseok by shoving a mouthful of food near his mouth, telling him to open wide. "Baozi, open wiiide~" All the junior year students would eye them weirdly whenever everyone laughed really loudly. as if they were freaks of some sort, or just the weirdest people they've ever seen.

Minseok couldn't help but submit to this delicious food that Luhan had been giving him, and he couldn't help but give up and let Luhan call him this ridiculous nickname. Luhan was awfully sweet to him- much sweeter than Minseok expected he would be, which meant that it is awfully strange. "Luhan, you're too nice. Is there something going on with you?" And Luhan just flashed a crooked smile, almost wickedly.

"Why, Minseok, I've decided to call you mine!" Wait. What did Luhan mean? They've just begun to know each other on the first day, and now Minseok was taken? "W-What!? Why!?"

"Don't you know how the wolves with magical powers roam?" Luhan cooed, "It runs in every wolf's blood!"

Minseok cocked his head to the side, confused. Luhan squealed at the sight of Minseok looking like this, and explained the reason. "Many different wolves have many different color schemes of their fur. Depending on how bright or dark the fur is, a wolf-hybrid with powers like us can obtain more dominance or more obedience. The brighter color of a wolf's fur means that they can obtain more dominance, while darker colors of a wolf's fur means they follow rules for the ones that receive more dominance, silly Minseok! So that means.."

Minseok evaluated what Luhan was saying and how this applied to him right now. Since Luhan's fur is lighter than Minseok's is, then that means.. Minseok, though older than Luhan, had to follow Luhan's rules..?  Flushed badly, he sat there and let his head hang down. Luhan cackled, ertedly thinking about what to use Minseok for. This was going to be a wild ride.. and it definitely was going to be fun.

♦♦♦♦

The minute Minseok had finished eating, he'd set his plate exposed and left without saying goodbye to Luhan, while the other came up running to him, smirking in a dirty way. "Minseok, don't worry! I won't hurt you, I promise!" This time, Luhan meant his words. He was serious.

Hugging him at the back with his hands folded around his waist, Luhan prevented Minseok from going any further, while some members of the table, excited as they were, watched their actions unnoticed. Minseok turned to face the pretty boy's face, and saw those same, gleaming and sparkling eyes he saw when he had first brushed shoulders past him. "Sorry about that.." Luhan said, a little bit disappointed in his words. Minseok just smiled gently and released himself for personal space, forgiving Luhan just like that.

After all, he knew there was much more to encounter later on in future events. Besides, wasn't enduring a deer who babbled about your appearance 24/7 enough already to exert yourself?
