04. Presents
Tinsel, Presents and Other Christmas ThingsIt’s early Monday morning, and Donghae decides to roll over to snuggle into his blankets even further. The air is cool and crisp, and he decides that it’s the perfect day to sleep in.
Only a few more moments go by until he hears the very familiar slam of their front door, and Donghae opens his eyes quickly.
Hyukjae isn’t in the bed with him.
A slow but sure grin spreads across Donghae’s face, and he allows himself to roll around in the blankets a bit more, shaking out the weariness in his bones before jumping out of bed. He easily throws on the Christmas sweater that he made Hyukjae buy for him (as well as one for himself, matching, as couples do) and runs downstairs.
“Hyukjae!” Donghae yells loudly, running down the stairs, bare feet flitting quickly down the cold wood floor. He has no time for that though. Not when Hyukjae has bought presents.
“Hyukjae!” he exclaims again upon seeing the man sitting on the couch in the living room with a casual smirk on his face. Donghae knows he’s too late, and he frowns despite feeling warm and giddy inside because Hyukjae is wearing the matching Christmas sweater and a sweet maroon beanie that makes him looks extra festive. His shoes are off, and it looks like he’s been there a while. “The presents?”
Hyukjae puts down his steaming cup of hot chocolate – remind Donghae to ask for a cup; Hyukjae’s hot chocolates are the best – and smiles at Donghae.
