PROLOGUE
A black crow descended near them. Its soft cawing piercing the tense atmosphere. Its bead-like eyes following their every move.
‘I treated you like a brother.’
A man stood in front of the semi-conscious body of another. He had his hand on a silver handgun, a subtle yet effective weapon, and was preparing to shoot. Yet, through his calm demeanor, his voice did not hide his pain.
‘Hyung.’
The man’s cold gaze was suddenly met with pleading eyes, but it only caused him to tighten his grip.
‘You should’ve killed me when you had the chance.’
Slowly, his fingers wrapped around the trigger. The shuffling of feathers that followed hid the sound of two empty shells falling to the ground.
Ring-ring-ring.
‘I’ll get it.’ A young woman rushed into the living room to take the call.
‘Hello? Yes, this is her. Yes, he’s my brother.’
‘Unnie, who’s that?’ Another woman peeked inside the room, but her words fell on deaf ears. The woman on the phone had now broken down in tears oblivious to the world around her.
