Chapter 7
On Your Shoulder2 days before Yuri’s departure…
Yuri and Sica were going out to the town festival. It was their first time going there together. And they found a lot of interesting things in that place.
They walked together around seeing a lot of stuffs offered there. After walking for a while, they stopped in front of a merchandise stall. Sica stand still and stared at the couple bracelets. Yuri soon noticed it.
“Wanna buy some, Sica?”
Sica waved her hands. “No. It just makes me remember about Taeyeon and Fany. You know that they have couple necklaces, right?”
“Aaah. That padlock and key necklaces?” Yuri tilted her head.
Sica nodded. “They are really cute, aren’t they?” Sica mumbled.
“Why don’t we get a couple too?” Yuri smiled.
“We?” Sica looked at Yuri.
But Yuri didn’t answer her and instead talked to the seller.
“Please make it for us.” She took two bracelets and gave it to him.
After waiting for a while, he gave Yuri the bracelets and she paid for it.
“Nah Sica, this one is for you,” she handed over the red bracelet, “and this one for me,” she used the white one.
“Mine is ‘Yuri’?” Sica wondered.
Yuri nodded. “Yes, so you’ll remember me,” Yuri gave a dorky face.
Sica giggled. “So yours is ‘Sica’, right?”
“Of course,” Yuri said proudly. “Now, are you happy?”
Sica chuckled. “Gomawoyo, Yuri-ah.”
“My pleasure, Princess.” Yuri smiled.
After that, they went to ride a ferris wheel that located on the center of town festival. It wasn’t that high, but could reach the height that overlooked the beautiful night scenery of their beloved Seoul city. The two young girls sat side by side on one cart. The cold blast of night wind swept over them as they slowly ascending to the top.
“Look Sica, isn’t it so beautiful from here?” Yuri nudged Sica as she gazing far away at the lightful night, full of splashes gold here and there that refined the black night into a cheerful one.
“Glad we come here.” Sica answered with a smile while she also followed looking at the distant horizon. The girl was smiling mesmerized by the beautiful scenery in front of her. Then she shifted her gaze to the brown haired girl beside her. As they were getting higher to the peak of the ferris wheel the taller girl lifted her arms to the air that met with the cold blast of high wind.
“What are you doing?”
“Try it, Sica. You’re gonna like it,” Yuri said before started screaming wildly into the evening air.
With an amused chuckle, Sica did what Yuri was doing that immediately welcomed by a cold breeze which embracing her with its chilling arms. Sica giggled in response.
“Like it?”
Sica nodded in amusement. As they were now descending down, the girl also taking down her arms to put it on her body as she rubbed her hands against her arms to soothe down the chill feeling she got before.
Yuri noticed it and automatically took off her jacket and put it around Sica’s shoulder.
“I’m alright, Yuri-ah,” Sica chimed with a smile as she pushed Yuri’s jacket lightly.
“No, no, just wear it, Sica. Better safe than sorry,” Yuri replied and put the jacket back on the blonde girl’s shoulder.
“Thank you.”
Yuri replied with a soothing smile and her smile just getting even bigger when she felt a certain weight on her shoulder. She let the warm feeling seeping through the contact they shared. Her hand searched for the other person’s and intertwined it as soon as she found it. Their fingers fits together in just the right way and the feeling of Sica’s hand against hers was really nice and perfect like a lock and key made for each other. The taller girl couldn’t help but feel really happy for that moment.
They almost reached the lowest point and the ferris wheel was preaparing to ascend again one more final round to the top of the circle. Sica shifted a bit to make herself more comfortable.
Yuri looked at the girl who was still leaning on her shoulder before focusing her attention back to the view before her. She didn’t know how it all started or when it gradually built up, but the feelings for the girl was there in her heart, wanted to be acknowledge. The words were ready to spill out from her lips, but just then, the voice of another girl stopped it from seeping out.
“Yuri-ah,” Sica called with her gently voice.
“Hmm?”
“Yuri-ah,” she called again.
“Yes??”
“Nothing,” she answered with a chukle. But not long after she called her again. “Yuri-ah.”
“What is it, Sica?”
Sica shook her head lightly before smiling. “Just wanna called you.”
“And why is that?” Yuri asked curiously looking at the smiling girl.
“I’m so happy right now,” Sica answered while she tightening their intertwined hands and scooted closer to Yuri.
Yuri couldn’t help but blush by Sica’s action just then. She was smiling wide from ear to ear. Her mind was filled with a lot of beautiful things she wanted to do with the blonde girl. All good things that she would do for the girl she adored. She was happy to just imagine being together with Sica. The words that was blocked before started to built up on again after the encouraging action from the other girl.
“Sica, I…”
“I’m so lucky to have a bestfriend like you, Yuri-ah.” Sica continued again before Yuri being able to finish her sentence.
All her well-built confidence before crumbled down upon hearing those simple confession from the blonde girl.
“I know I have Taeyeon and Fany. They are a really nice bestfriends. That’s true. But you’re different, Yuri-ah. You seem to know everything about me. In a better and nicer way. And you never fail to comfort and cheer me up. In your very own way. Being around you, I always feel happy and comfortable. I never feeling so lucky and blessed before just for knowing someone,” Sica spilled out what she felt about her bestfriend.
If only Sica hadn’t said about any ‘bestfriend’ word, Yuri would assume that Sica was confessing to her. But just like what Sica said before, no, it was not. She was only a bestfriend for the blonde girl.
“Thank you, Yuri-ah. I hope we can be bestfriend forever,” Sica said again and smiling obliviously to her brokenhearted bestfriend.
Yuri eyed the smiling girl and although what just happened was not what she was expecting, but seeing Sica smiling so beautiful right there because of her, she in the end shook off all the bad thought and chukled along.
“Yeah, I hope so.”
“Maybe this was for the best, at least I can still befriend with her,” Yuri said in her mind.
The ride finally was done and they got off from the carts. They continued their night walking together around at that town festival.
“I want ice cream, Yuri-ah,” Sica caughta sight of a nearby Ice Cream Stall and pointed at it.
“Cucumber Ice Cream?” Yuri teased.
“Yah!” Sica punched her arm and Yuri just chuckled at her.
“Just kidding, Sica. Vanilla, right?”
Sica nodded.
“Nah, this vanilla is yours and mine is chocolate,” Yuri said as her ice cream.
“Yummy,” Sica enjoyed her ice cream like a kid.
Yuri took a glance at her and saw Sica’s mouth was full of ice cream. She giggled.
“What’s wrong, Yuri?”
Yuri pointed at . “You eat like a kid, Sica.”
Sica blushed.
“Here, I’ll help you.” Yuri gently put her thumb on Sica’s lips and slowly wiped it. She was staring at her lips intens
