Minho's Thoughts 4
Blueberry Stars
Today it was raining, and it was supposed to go on all weekend. So, early that morning Minho decided nothing made the rain better than a warm fritter. He made several batches hoping that it would be popular and he wanted to have enough to last until 4pm. He baked them in little ceramic bowls and garnished them with a dark chocolate drizzle. They looked comforting and delicious. The store was packed from open to well after noon and Minho watched each little tray slowly disappear out of the case. Around 2pm they were almost all gone much to the owners delight. But a certain knot of nervousness settled in Minho’s stomach. With out anyone noticing Minho snuck one of the last fritters out of the warm case and nestled in the back of the warm oven for safe keeping.
4pm came and went, but the boy didn’t come in. The rain continued to pound away outside and it eventually became so bad people stopped coming in. The sky was dark like it was night and Minho felt uneasy.
“Guess the rain was enough to even scare away some of our regulars today,” Amber was chatting with an elderly woman who had commented on her surprise on seeing the shop so empty.
“I guess your right, the news is saying that it’s been dangerous, some of the busses have run off the roads.”
Minho felt his stomach drop and a sudden coldness settle in his chest. He ignored the rest of their conversation and went home early that night.
