☽Of New Friends and Nightmares☽

  The entire journey was silent; with static from the radio occasionally interrupting the quiet. Dana assumed that Kai was probably still mad; but honestly, it wasn't totally her fault. It wasn't as if her nightmares were a light topic to talk about in the first place. She herself hadn't realised how bad they had gotten until she had woken up crying in the middle of the night, with Yura comforting her.    The car pulled over to a halt and Kai turned towards the girl, his lips parting to speak. "You might need a little more time getting used to the pack. They don't exactly behave like adults."    He hopped out of the car and slung her backpack over his shoulders. Dana wordlessly stepped out, rubbing her hands together as the cold wind brushed against her body. Kai stared down at her hands and felt his heart swelling by the tiniest bit.   She had worn the gloves he gave her a while back.    "Nice gloves." Kai muttered, trying to lighten her mood as he started walking ahead of the girl. He honestly couldn't find himself staying mad at her for long. After all, Dana did admit that she needed him by her side; and that itself was enough to extinguish the angry burning flame in his heart.    She muttered a small thanks before following suit. Her eyes flickered up as she heard the faint call of her name. Dana stopped in her tracks to scan the vast meadow. She blinked twice and in that short few seconds, the familiarity of this clearing and the memory of the meadow in her nightmare clicked at once.   She fell to her knees as another riptide submerged her into unconsciousness. Tiny black spots danced in her vision and her ears stung with a piercing ring, numbing her senses. A pair of hands caught her figure in an embrace as she felt herself being lifted from the ground and closed her eyes, leaning towards the warmth. Her hearing abilities were returning as they neared the house and she cracked an eye open only to realise that her face was buried in Kai's chest.   Kai effortlessly unlocked the door with a single hand before putting Dana down the moment he walked through the doorway. He bent his knees, examining her dilated pupils and rested his hand on the small of her back. "Are you okay?"   Dana nodded curtly. "That is one hell of a twilight zone."    Kai gingerly guided her towards the living room, his ears perking up in alert at the unbelievable quietness of the house. His werewolf instincts told him that the pack had gone off somewhere to have some fun and had brought the mates along with them.    However, there was a presence in the house.   Lara.   She was probably somewhere in the manor; he could feel her magic bouncing off the walls. She had been waiting for him to bring Dana over. He had a strong friendship bond with Lara and he trusted her to take care of his new mate when he was out hunting. So he might as well make Dana and Lara comfortable around each other.    "Get yourself something to drink in the kitchen, I'll go put your bag in my room." Kai spoke and Dana nodded obediently. The girl wandered around the house, in search for the kitchen. The mansion was so much bigger than she had expected. There were practically rooms at every turn of her head; game rooms, sports hall and even a library. The cream coloured walls showered the house with a sort of warmth as pictures hung on the empty spaces, showcasing memories of many happy boys in one frame.    Curiosity had taken over as Dana took a small step closer to the wall. The familiar brunette with bedroom eyes had limbs strewn all over his body as the werewolves piled themselves on top of each other to fit into the photograph. The grins on their faces stretched so widely that they were all practically beaming from ear to ear. Dana let out a small smile at the adorable sight and wondered how it would feel to see Kai smile like that again.    Suddenly, the hair on the back of her neck stood on its ends. And Dana twirled around at the rush of unease surging through her veins. Her eyes darted all around the hallway searching for the owner of unfamiliar aura blanketing her surroundings.   "It's quite stunning how you could sense a witch's presence before I even entered the halls."   Dana spun around, meeting a gorgeous set of ebony eyes and dirty blonde hair. She strutted down the halls elegantly, her heels clicking with every step she took. The short concave bob she sported framed her sharp gaze perfectly as the new addition to the pack was under her heavy scrutiny. The most capturing part of her was not her slim body, but the massive scar slashed across her cheek. Dana's line of sight faltered when the said female chuckled softly and snapped her fingers, lighting up a stick of fragrant incense which hung on the wall.    "Please excuse me, the house was just starting to smell like dog."    Dana eyed the witch warily, as she stood before her. The witch brushed past Dana and grasped her wrist, her magic creating the familiar surge of energy that Daia provided when the two siblings hugged; only, this one was much more powerful.    "Come dear, let's take a little tour around the house and I'll show you my favourite place. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you."    Dana hadn't even spoken a word of greeting. She was slightly overwhelmed by the confrontal meeting with such a powerful witch. Who could blame her? This witch had exquisite beauty like no other she'd seen before. Not even her sister could compare to the glow that her radiated from her skin.    "Where are my manners," she started again as she offered Dana a glass of orange juice the moment she walked into the kitchen. Dana silently bowed and sipped on the cold beverage as the witch recited a Latin phrase; revealing a secret passageway which led to an underground room. "I'm Lara, witch and first mate to join the pack. Welcome to my work room." That name rang a bell somewhere in Dana's mind, Kai had spoken of her before.   Lara nudged Dana down the stairwell as the latter blinked her eyes to adjust herself to the dim lighting which engulfed the room with a romantic glow. Dana's heart palpitated in excitement the moment her eyes caught onto the open grimoires on the massive wooden table. There were different coloured potions on the shelfs and various potted plants which housed different healing herbs & flowers. The strong scent of burning incense filled her nose once again and Dana turned to see the room now slightly brighter; as light reflected
