The Dark One

Description

Joonmyun laid in bed, staring at the wall. He couldn't sleep. He could never sleep nowadays. It seemed as though everything was out to get him. Whenever he would close his eyes things would be moved when he'd open them again. Joonmyun knew that things had been moved because of the marks left behind. There would be open patches that were surrounded by dust, where the items previously were. There were even scratches on the floor from furniture being shifted from one side of the room to the other.

The worst thing, though, was the shadows. Whenever Joonmyun would go outside or be near any light source he would see the shadows move, following him wherever he went. The ominous shadows would bring a sense of fear to Joonmyun every time he saw them. He'd start breathing heavily, eyes darting around him for anything that may help him to get away. But when he looked back...the shadows were gone... It was as though they were never there, even though the fear lingered after the shadows were gone.

Now all he could do was stare. Staring was the only was he could preserve his life. Shelter himself from the creatures threatening to rule his life. To fill him with so much fear he could never leave. He could never move. He could only watch in horror as his very being was being torn apart.

All because of his mind.

Joonmyun continued to stare at the same spot on the wall. Nothing changed. Nothing moved. Everything was the same. Everything had been the same for the past six hours, but he was not willing to chance anything by sleeping. It would gnaw at his brain knowing that things were moving. Knowing that something else was there.

Something he couldn't see.

Something he couldn't hear.

Something he couldn't protect himself from.

Something that would never leave him.

Joonmyun felt his eyes starting to sting and he realized that he had been so deep in his thoughts that he had forgotten to blink. Although the thinks it is more from his fear of closing his eyes than it is that he had simply forgotten.

What was only meant to be a quick blink turned into a twelve hour sleep. Of course Joonmyun hadn't realized that he had fallen asleep, it just kinda... Well, happened!

Joonmyun pulled himself into a sitting position. Bringing his hand up to his forehead, he gently rubbed his temples to soothe the pounding that had seemed to start as soon as his eyes had opened. He sighed, closing his eyes trying to ease the ache, forgetting, momentarily, about the creatures that were driving him insane. His mind was too clouded by fatigue and that damn headache that just wouldn't go away with any simple movement of his fingers.

The next time he opened his eyes he was in a dark place. It was already dark in his home, but this place was definitely not his home. Not at all. This place was old and withering. The wood was splintered and showed signs of previous burns and stains that could've been blood, but Joonmyun hoped they were just red wine stains from a party that may have gotten out of hand. Although he's been told that he thinks a little more optimistically than most people would, especially for his situation.

Joonmyun quickly decided to find out where he was so he could hurry home and hope to any God, that there may or may not be, to have everything in the same spot as it had been in. He was seriously started to lose hope for himself, but Joonmyun knew that he would not let anything overcome him and take everything away from him. It was his life, and dammit he was going to live it how ever he wanted to.

Foreword

I'm just testing this out. I'm still trying to cope with what's been going on and nothing has gotten better. I've tried, but at least I have two more trust worthy friends who deal with the same stuff I deal with.

well, anyways. Ignore my little rant, please. So, I'm not sure if I'll continue this or not. It's up to you all. Let me know if it's a good idea or not.

thank you.
