There are so many things wrong this manipulation. (Sigh.) But I like the idea behind it. When I think about something precious, I see it as being locked and hidden away where they can't be taken. Because we live in such a materialistic world, said precious thing is usually an object, but in many instances, they're people too.
Humans are selfish like that.
