Purification
Description
"Do not pretend to be blind, Taemin," was all Minji had to say to bring the universe crashing down on Taemin's shoulders.
Foreword
Heavily inspired by an anime called Psycho Pass, I combined sci-fi and crime fiction to the best of my ability to create "Purification." I hope to be able to explore the meaning of justice, liberation and free will as well as that grey area between black and white in this story.
(I'm giving you a brief synopsis of the story because I believe the plot is quite confusing and I want readers to understand a bit of it before delving into the actual story and drowning in its complexity.)
In essence, a Purifier is a chip inserted into the brain that causes paralysis to people who intend on carrying out illegal actions. Despite this, law enforcement still exists because of an anti-Purifier minority group called Modifiers (Mods, for short) who are free from Purifier control and use violent means in attempt to bring down the Purifier and the government supporting it.
Enter Lee Taemin, an officer demoted from Investigator rank just as a leader rises to power and unites the Mods. Despite strict orders, he's determined to end their rebellion. But several encounters with their leader shows him the Mods aren't entirely wrong and that the makers of the Purifier and the government hasn't been telling their people everything.
Not even close.
