Lost Innocence

Description

When you look back in life, maybe innocence is the only thing you'll smile at.

"The dove was trapped by her own shadow. And the shadow trapped in itself."

"People don't realise how precious a smile is, in this world of pretense."

Foreword

Here's your son, Miss Yeong.

The beautiful baby slept peacefully, his tiny hand curled around his mother's finger. Tenderly, she reached out to touch his soft wisps of dark hair. "You look like him..." she whispered, still his hair. A warm tear landed on the baby's hand and she wiped it away with a tired smile.

Closing her eyes, she said, "I shall name you Jun Hwa. Yeong Jun Hwa..."

Outside the ward, a boy, no more than seventeen stood watching through the glass. His eyes blurred as he thought, "Heejin-ah, I'm sorry..." Inside the baby woke up and whimpered a little. The mother's eyes crinkled when she laughed, at the sight of her child. It's my son... The boy thought. "I'm really sorry," he heaved, trying to control his tears in the corridor. A tight sensation filled his chest, one with guilt and worry.

Minki, you still can go back to her.

No, you father will be furious. Remember he asked you to tell her to abort the baby?

There's still a chance, Minki. If you love each other, then it would be fine, wouldn't it?

Nonsense! It was only puppy love, the stupidest feeling of all. She'll do fine without you.

The baby is your son, Minki...

He was a mistake.

Don't listen to him. Minki, you still can go back. You can have a family with her, protect her-

The boy stumbled a step backwards, backing away from the door he was about to open. His heart raced with confusion. No. He had already decided. Goodbye, Heejin. Take care, he thought numbly before running off into the corridor, unable to take the growing intensity in the atmosphere. You're a coward, Minki. A coward.

A/N: I just wanted to acknowledge all the young teenage couples out there who are having a difficult time. Puppy love may not be true, but the person is still your first love. Sometimes, other people will come by to help you, but you just won't be able to forget. Time will never wash your first love's name away. And, I want to also tell people out there to appreciate their family, because when everything else fails, they're all you've got. Ultimately, the choice is up to you.

The storyline is not pointed at anyone in particular and all coindences in the storyline is unintentional. I just wanted to write an inspiring story (I hope this can pass as one).

Enjoy~

Of course, this is also written as part of r i g h t i n t h e f e e l s • a writing contest. Do participate if you're feeling up to it!
