Chapter 6

It was another day in Roommate house. Dongwook went down to the kitchen to see Sungwoo and Chanyeol already hovering over the stove cooking breakfast.

“Good morning you two,” he greeted the two of them.

“Morning Dongwook,” the main chef in the house greeted, giving him a brief glance before he went back to stir the soup he was brewing.

“Good morning hyung,” Chanyeol greeted with the familiar cheery smile of his.

“What are you cooking today? Can I help with anything?” He asked, observing the younger male chopping some onions on the chopping block.

“I’m brewing the bean sprout soup,” Sungwoo said. “The rice is already cooked. If you want to help, you can take the apples from the fridge, wash and cut them.”

“Alright,” Dongwook agreed.

It was not long for the meal to be prepared and soon everybody available at the house came down for breakfast.

“Where’s Bommie and Gayeon?” Dongwook asked Sora who took a seat beside him at the table.

“Gayeon will come down in a second and Bom is still sleeping. She came home late last night, so she must be tired,” Sora supplied.

“She works too hard,” Sungwoo muttered, worried for that particular member of the house.

Dongwook nodded his head in return. “I’ll bring the breakfast to her then,” he said as he gathered some food on a tray. Then, he proceeded upstairs to wake the sleeping alien.

In his eagerness to see Bom, Dongwook nearly bumped into Gayeon who was coming out of the room.

“Oppa, you startled me,” the younger girl said.

“Sorry,” he whispered. “Is Bom still sleeping?” He asked as he balanced the tray properly before its content crashed to the floor.

Gayeon nodded looking behind her back towards the famous singer who was still sleeping soundly with her comforter blanketed around her body.

“Breakfast service?” She inquired with a cheeky grin.

“Yeah,” he said with a cheeky grin of his own. Minwoo had done this before to wake Bom up using food and the result was hilarious. “Are you going down now?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’m hungry,” Gayeon said as she held the door for him to enter. “Bye, oppa. Good luck with your mission,” she said trying not to laugh out loud at the situation.

“Okay,” he said before he stealthily stepped closer towards his target who was still dead to the world. He circled the bed and placed the tray on the table situated in between Gayeon and Bom’s bed, trying not to make too much noise.

He looked towards the pretty head peeking under the covers. A smile automatically grazed his lips as he looked at the sleeping figure. She managed to look cute even when she was sleeping. Her hair was tied high on her head. It was a little messy as a few strands managed to escape the tight bun. And Poong-poong was ever present clutched tightly in her arm as she slept.

Dongwook lifted the bean sprout soup from the tray and carefully brought it closer to her, fanning it with his hand so that she could smell the aroma wafting from the bowl. There was some reaction from her as she frowned a little in her sleep, unconsciously bringing her face closer towards the soup.

“I’m hungry,” she suddenly mumbled in her sleep making Dongwook froze on his spot. He placed the soup back on the tray as he collapsed on Gayeon’s bed clutching his stomach trying to suppress the bubbling laughter in his throat.

He sat on the edge of the bed looking at Bom who was still asleep though. He looked at the camera on the dresser and went towards it.

“Everyone, this is the real Park Bom,” he whispered with a chuckled. “I’ve never met any girl like her before. She really is an alien,” he said conspiratorially to the camera before he went back to her.

“Really, what am I going to do with you Park Bom?” He mumbled with both his hands placed on his waist. Then an idea struck him and he kneeled beside the bed. He took a piece of the apple he cut earlier and brought it closer to her lips so that it touched her lips. Her upper lip twitched a little and she suddenly nibbled the apple and munched on it stretching her limbs in the process but still she didn’t open her eyes.

Dongwook palmed his hand around his mouth to keep himself from laughing. He thought he was dying from suppressing the laughter inside. Really this girl was so funny. He looked at her face and suddenly he was met with eyes looking at him with confusion.

“Oppa, what is this?” She yelled out as the realization dawned on her. She took the edge of the comforter and placed it over her head, hiding her face from him.

“Bommie-ah,” Dongwook tried to pry the comforter from her but she wrapped it tighter around her form, getting entangled in it. “What are you doing? Hurry wake up and eat,” he said.

“You’re not supposed to see me like this,” her voice was muffled but he could hear her loud and clear. “I’m a mess in the morning,” she whined.

“What do you mean you’re a mess,” he countered. “You look beautiful as always,” he said as he unsuccessfully tried to untangle the comforter from her. “Hurry, get up and eat.”

“Finally,” he succeed in ripping the comforter from but Bom reacted by burying her face on the pillow determined to not let him see her face. “Seriously Bom, why are you hiding your face from me? I already saw it earlier when you were sleeping. Come on get up,” he coaxed her.

“Why did I taste apple on my tongue?” She suddenly asked with a questioning glance towards him.

Dongwook couldn’t hold in his laughter anymore seeing her innocent face. “You ate a piece of apple earlier when you were sleeping,” he said in between his laughter.

“NO!!!” Bom cried and buried her face in the pillow once again. “My image, it’s ruined,” she cried harder.

He could only snigger in glee at her response.

.

.

“We’ll be going now,” Dongwook said towards his housemate as he closed the front door with Bom in tow. They get in the car and Dongwook drove away towards the store.

It was unusually quiet in the car and he glanced towards his companion beside him. She was looking pretty as always with her favorite gray hoodie over her black tank top and skinny jeans.

“Why are you so quiet?” Dongwook asked the slightly pouting singer sitting in the passenger seat.

“What is there to talk about?” Bom replied, crossing her arms across her chest in a defiant manner, not looking at him.

“Are you still mad about earlier?” Dongwook asked.

She didn’t answer him, opted to glance outside of the window instead, refusing to look at him.

Dongwook sighed at the silent treatment. He admitted that he probably deserved it but he couldn’t help but . “Bommie, I’m sorry if I hurt your feeling. I don’t mean anything bad about it. I just want to serve you breakfast,” he prodded gently, hoping to make peace with the sulking alien.

“Oppa always play prank on me,” she muttered sullenly, turning towards him with a cute glare that didn’t faze him at all.

“I can’t help it because you’re just so adorable,” he said with humor.

“Oppa!!!” He saw Bom whined at him with a frustrated gaze, making him laugh at her antics. “See, that’s what I mean. You would always play prank on me and treated me like a child,” she pointed at him with her finger accusingly.

Dongwook thought it was time to stop his teasing for the time being. “Okay, I’m sorry,” he said apologetically to her but she only met his gaze dead on with a scowl on her pretty face.

“Humph!” She grumbled, puffing her cheek in annoyance.

Dongwook shook his head in return. He really thought that she needed to work on her intimidating skill because it was not working at all. She only managed to look cuter with her conduct.

“I’m really sorry Bom,” he coaxed. “If you forgive me, I will buy you some corn later, and I know this place that sells the best homemade corn pudding ever,” he said enthusiastically. He saw her eyes glint excitedly at the revelation.

“Really?” She said, turning to look at him with a new light. “You will do that?”

“Yeah,” Dongwook nodded. “I will treat you to anything you want. So stop being mad at me okay,” he uttered with a smile.

“Of course,” she said with her own smile. “I’ve never tried homemade corn pudding before,” she muttered before her eyes glazed over as she was lost in her corn-land.

Dongwook on the other hand, chuckled when he heard that. He should have use the corn card earlier. It solved everything related to Park Bom. But all in all, Dongwook was glad that she seemed to be in her usual bubbly self. He didn’t like it when she was angry at him.

With a smile on his face, Dongwook continued driving away towards their destination for groceries shopping.

.

.

It was ten minutes later when they finally arrived at their destination. They shopped for the groceries with no problem at all, but leaving the place had become such a hassle when their presence attracted some fans and they gathered outside the store to see their idols. Their exit had been blocked by the fans waiting outside.

Both of them were grateful to see that they had so many supporters out there but they couldn’t help but feel sorry sometimes for they had unintentionally become an inconvenient to the other customers in the store.

As for the fans, they went crazy when they noticed the two of them together. This only fueled the ‘Bodong’ feel that they portrayed in Roommate. The ‘Bodong’ shipper went crazy for them.

Bom and Dongwook proceeded to exit the store while bowing and greeting them and the fans started to gather around and came closer.

Dongwook didn’t expect that their presence would attract so many fans here. He suddenly felt anxious, afraid that the situation would get out of control. A glance towards the PD in charge showed that he felt the same way from the worried look on his face. He too didn’t expect this to happen. It was crowded and fearing for Bom’s safety, he put his arm around her and drew her closer to his form, ready to protect her in case something happen. It was a precaution in case there was some fanatic fans tried to do something.

Unbeknownst to him, his action only made the fans became more thrilled as they yelled with excitement at the gesture.

Dongwook sighed in relief as they finally sat in the safety of the car. He didn’t know how Bom dealt with this situation in her life. She was calmed throughout the ordeal while he couldn’t stop fearing for her safety. There was this one male fan who dared to grab Bom’s hand and said how beautiful she was, but she took it all in one stride and calmly thanked the fan. He however couldn’t help but glare at the male fan for his action.

“Now that groceries shopping are settled, let’s go to the restaurant I’ve told you about for some corn,” Dongwook said as drove away from the scene.

“Yay!” Bom yelled in excitement because of her favorite food.

.

.

“Wah! This is so delicious!” Bom exclaimed excitedly as she continued to eat the corn pudding with passion. “You’re not joking Dongwook-oppa. This is truly good.”

“Bommie, is that okay for you to be eating so much,” Dongwook said. “We’re being filmed you know. Won’t your trainer see this? I heard he was a tough one.”

Bom gasped in horror. How could she forget about this? “Oh my God. What am I going to do?” She said panicking a little. “PD-nim, can you cut this scene?” She asked the PD standing behind the camera man. “You need to cut this. If not, I’m dead,” she said dramatically.

But the PD in charge only smiled evilly in return and Bom whimpered, burying her face in her hands with doomed expression.

“Don’t think too much about it,” Dongwook said. “Just eat the pudding, there’s nothing we can do at this point.”

“You’re right,” Bom quickly came to her senses when she heard the word corn and continue eating like her little break down earlier didn’t happen.

Dongwook smiled at her act as he too enjoyed his treat. He really was having a good time today. He hoped that they could be like this forever. Being with Bom like this in a normal outing, eating and conversing casually made him feel content. It felt right. He really loved spending time with her and he secretly wished that they could be more than they were right now.

Was it wrong and selfish for him to hope that she felt the same way too?
